Walt Disney was furious when he saw this cartoon and he wanted to sue Jay Ward. It took a while for his lawyers to convince him that that was a bad idea.
And yet it said that it still got banned 😅😅😅😅. Good thing we got it again now before becoming lost media 😅😅😅😅
@@men_del12 #TakeThat, Walt!
Sure he was. That film was groundbreaking. First full length animation film. Pretty impressive. And Walt was a serious guy when it came to his characters. Sure he created and originally voiced Mickey, but his real love was animating those feature-length films in the late 30s and 40s.
I love the slap De Santis got from Disney a couple days ago.
I watched Rocky and Bullwinkle as a kid and thought these were hilarious! But I can see why Walt Disney didn't. Not much of a sense of parody.
@@waynejones205 NO!
How so? Sleeping Beauty is a fairy tale from hundreds of years ago. They don't own it.
I terribly miss Fractured Fairy Tales and many of the Jay Ward cartoons.
Yup. They came on with rocky and bull Winkle 👍
@@user-kp1pz6zv8y ..💀..Yup.., Very "otherworldly"..even, kinda surreal..ya know..?!
@@Maldoror200 Radical for the times.
The opening intro fairy lady book slam is a classic icon.
I am so happy this is being enjoyed lately by new fans of Rocky and Bullwinkle
This is one fractured tale that caused a stir, but I'm glad it was posted here. Loved these tales from years ago and enjoying them again now. Joe S
It doesn’t shock me at all that these are better than ANYTHING on TV today.
The voice talents of June Foray, Paul Frees and Bill Scott created a world of humor for Jay Ward's show. Edward Everett Horton was the narrator.
I believe Edward Everett Horton Lane is, paradoxically, the shortest street in Los Angeles.
Paul Frees was a master of mimicry.
They also used other voice actors for some episodes, including this one. IMDB credits Daws Butler here, and the voice does sound the same as Hokey Wolf.
@@oneeyedman99 Butler was a regular on Fractured Fairy Tales. However, since Rocky and Bullwinkle were sponsored by General Mills, and Butler was also starring in Hanna Barbera shows that were sponsored by Kellogg's, he chose to remain uncredited in the latter show after its first season.
I really wish I would have had a bowl of cereal while I was watching this, just like when I was a kid. Good memories.
I literally paused it and went and made a bowl to watch these.. I’ll take a bite for you 😇
Cereal and Saturday morning cartoons: two things that the do-gooders ruined in the early 70s.
What? Tell that to Ron DeSantis..., !!!
("Sgt.J."). "Yes! The bowl of cereal... How did I, Forget That." Lol. Hey, Evan The Russian Spies were Funny. "Boris and Natasha." I, May try. And, Watch the Rest of these? ✌️🕊️.
Lol.... actually so did I! ❤
" I'm not really a prince, I never joined the union".
Thank you so much for taking me back in time with these timeless cartoons !.
Boy has television declined since then. These were works of genius, and arguably one of the best shows in the history of television. Bring back Rocky and Bullwinkle, Fracture Fairy Tales, Boris and Natasha!
"Doze Doll Does Wiz Biz" slays me every time. (A parody of show biz trade paper slang)
Definitely taking the Mickey outta Walt with a spot-on caricature. Glad it didn’t reach the courts as Mouse v Moose and Squirrel.
I loved this as a kid in the mid to late 70s. My mom always laughed at these. I wouldn't get it and she'd explain it sometimes.
Great childhood memories! Thanks for posting.
My favorite!! “…the city makes us do it!”🤣🤣🤣🤣
The vocalizations are delicious. I remember trying to copy them.
The X Y and Z coupons make fun of the admission tickets you needed to get on certain rides at Disneyland before this was discontinued in the 1980s for a general admission fee. It's where the term "E-Ticket" comes from.
love these too. interesting to look at them from adult perspective
Talk about a walk down memory lane. Love it, thanks for bringing these back to life.
Great Memories! Also: Rocky, Bullwinkle, Natasha, Boris, Mr Peaboby and his boy Sherman, and let's not forget Gidney and Cloid the Moonmen. Ah, yes. Hilariously Great Memories!😂❤
Metal Munching Moon Mice.
Whoa..the Moon Men!! I had forgotten about those two. Thanks for mentioning them. I do recall Chauncey and Edgar, which I think inspired Jim Henson's two old timers in the balcony routine.
Aesop and Son.
Before there were the Moonenites, there were the Moonmen.
And the prince actually IS a caricature of Walt Disney.
And he was extremely angry about it
😂😂😂
I loved fractured fairy tales growing up good to see one again, thanks
There are several popping up on YT lately
Ironically, when Rocky and Bullwinkle came out on VHS, it was distributed by Buena Vista (Disney).
These were hilarious-satire for kids. A shame most of today's kids wouldn't get it.
Walt has been dead for a while now. Kids have their own funny.
Sadly, most of today's kids wouldn't get why firemen wear red suspenders.
I used to watch and enjoy them as I kid
They'd ask who was "Walt"?
Kids didn't get it then, either.
Most cartoons are like that.
“They don’t make broad swords...like they USE to...”
Suhword 😂
I remember watching this one, now I can truly appreciate it
Man, as soon as I heard that theme song it took me way to when I was a kid in the 60’s watching this on Sunday morning. 🙂
In case you may not have noticed, the voice of the prince in this cartoon is Daws Butler's impression of Phil Silvers' Sgt. Bilko character, which he would also use for the Hanna-Barbera character Hokey Wolf.
Thanks! This takes me back. Bugs Bunny is always my favorite but I do love these. It's a shame the world is so "fractured" for real these days.
I remember the days when something really spectacular was referred to as an E ticket ride
OMG. I haven't seen one of these since I was a small child. I'm a giddy .
I remember these hahaha.
Early Saturday mornings used to watch them all the time.
I have not seen this in a dog's age. Thanks for posting! :-))
"I just wanted to see if I could make it in showbiz" :-D
This episode was banned when it came out originally due because it was based on Walt Disney. This is probably one of the hardest episodes to find. It was definitely made to make fun of Walt Disney and Disneyland
Had no Idea but sounds right
There still is no shortage of reasons to make fun of the Disney's, especially WDW!!#Wokeland #WokeCanChoke!
@@waynejones205 What was that you said, incel loser? I can't hear you with Andrew Tate's micropeen stuck in your mouth. You and your three butt buddies that up voted your comment need to take a dive off a tall building before you contaminate the human gene pool with your useless, weak genes.
See everyone- this is what being a rightwing idiot with woke derangement syndrome will do to you- you'll be an incel loser for the rest of your life just like @Wayne_Jones
I figured it was because of the "hog flogger" remark.
@@waynejones205 so you’d rather they not have poc and women as leads, cut problematic stuff from past films, and stand up for marginalized people? Or what does “woke” mean?
Hard to believe these cartoons were only about five minutes long. As a boy, these cartoons felt like major motion pictures.
I love ❤️ fractured fairy tales
I remember seeing this when I would watch Bullwinkle and Rocky. It's as great today as it was back then
Very funny! 😂😂😂I loved this!
Just Gold. Pure silly gold.
i recall delighting in this series when I was a child in the '60s. i might have missed the resemblance but i saw his face every Sunday night so...I don't remember any hype but kids weren't clued in like they are now
I’d never seen this before but it was in one of my English professors lectures, these are awesome!
Fractured Fairy Tales was great, I remember these very well, would come on during Rocky and Bullwinkle
I loved this great memories.
Note the prince's resemblance to a certain animation and theme park entrepreneur...
which?
@@OneWeirdDude Walt Disney
Who just decides to build a Sleeping Beauty castle attraction
Yeah it’s Walt Disney and that is why fractured fairy tales are still good in this modern age because they know how to use satire jokes without hurting anyone.
Classic Tales.
Thank You. 🥰🥰🥰
grew up with the VHS's by Beuna Vista of the Rocky and Bullwinkle series, out of all of the shorts, this was one of my favorites, I now appreciate it more for Vincent Prices work
My father made waffles for us when this show came on.
Born in 1960 I remember these, with Tennessee tuxedo, Bullwinkle. Thank you.
That guy was the Snagglepuss in disguise
One of my favorite cartoons ❤️👍❤️❤️👍👍👍
Well, they didn't call these "fractured" fairy tales for nothing.
Shrek like humor before Shrek! These were so funny when I was a kid!
The original Perrault was terrifying. Talk about mother-in-laws!!!
("Sgt.J."). Wow! Those were on the Bullwinkle Show. "Abc Network." U.s.a. I, Kinda miss that show. I, Think i would still laugh at some of those.😅. 😊
This and mad magazine was my favorite. Rocky and bullwinkle hour was my favorite...
Walt's issue was the lettered tickets. How long since you heard reference to an E ticket ride? And as Yogurt declared that the real money is in merchandising.
Moichendizing!
I think my phone is listening to my conversations. I just had a conversation about these “twisted fairy tales” with my husband a few days ago. 😂
1984. Read the book. But the author was ahead of his time. Everything that is possible to voice command, is keeping track of what you say. Just test it out….
@@j.haulum2444
Oh, I’m aware. Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut is another one fully ahead of its time. Both are very relevant today.
I never saw this one. Wonderful!
And don't forget Dudley Do-right, Nell and my favorite, Nell's father!
I ❤ed these cartoons when I was a kid...got the humour and message then and my kids got it too all those years ago 😊
I showed Fractured Fairy Tales to my 8th graders. They are great to begin cognitive dissonance.
that's a total fracture of a fairy tale, indeed🤣
I'm not really a wicked fairy, I'm just wicked.
I just wanted to see if I could make it into Show Business priceless.
Daws Butler and June Foray with two voices for her on this one. the prince is a caricature of Walt Disney.
Brilliant satire.
oohhh i never watched this cartoons!!!are so entertaining👸🤴💍
Fractured Fairy Tales was always good. But Commander McBragg was genius.
I'm 72 and remember this cartoon, so funny !
Basically it's a riff on consumerism and exploitation.
The satire and content of this is phenom!!! I loved it as a kid but it freakin kills me now 😂😂😂😂thank you!!🤣🤣🥰🥰🥰🥰
"This Sleeping Beauty cowboy lasso" 😂
After not seeing this cartoon for many many. . . Many years!!!! It makes more sense now. 😅
Now that's a show I've not seen in a long long time
Thank you Obie Wan
I remember this from back when I was just a kid.
i love these fractured fairy tales there is one called three ugly sisters and invisible prince.
Oh, so this was the notorious "hog-flogger" episode...
I remembered this! But I haven"t heard about it for so long
This is giving Walt Disney and from the comments, I read it right.
you have to be older to get these - even the old Looney tunes
The Prince sounds like Sgt. Bilko.
Fabulous!
What the heck is up with his face at 0:35? Those pointy teeth, the spider eyes? Wow.
What should have happened on The Disney Version Of Sleeping Beauty is when that Prince Phillip was going to kiss Princess Aurora, but then that Prince Phillip decided to let Princess Aurora sleep forever, it's because that Prince Phillip decided to make Sleeping Beauty Land with Sleeping Beauty Comics, Sleeping Beauty Hats and Sleeping Beauty Bubblegums with people having fun on Moat Land by swimming on the moat and looking at the moat, people having fun on Entrance Hall Land by walking, touching the knight's armor and looking at the entrance hall and the knight's armor, people having fun on Stair Land by walking, running, sprinting and rolling down on the stairs and looking at the stairs and people having fun on Princess Aurora by touching Princess Aurora and looking at Princess Aurora which would how The Disney Version Of Sleeping Beauty would end.
LOL 😂😂😂 Go figure-- everyone was a fake and they were greedy just trying to get some money… hahahahaha
It ages me that I recall "E ticket rides." As referenced.
I always liked these cartoons better than Disney. When they aired in the seventies, they weren't really censored or edited, so you could see all the dark and racist tones. Years later many people who worked with him spoke about his racist, sexist, and anti-Semitic comments and actions.
Classic. I grew up watching reruns of this in the early 90s. I never got that this was mocking Disney until now. I always thought the joke was just how the story always takes a sharp turn to be something different. And the whole thing wasn't dependent on topical humor of the time, so it had a much longer staying power. Like how Looney Toons can seem horribly dated because its humor was based on Hollywood and current events from the 40s.
The original "Shrek"was also a parody of Disney too.
@@u686st7 So?
I grew up watching these reruns in the early 70s.
Love it
I can see why Disney was furious. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
Taran was never known because he wasn't even born yet until either in 1964 (according to the release of the book) or 1985 (according to the release of the movie. If that fractured fairy tales was released somewhere in the 1980s, and Taran heard about this, he would come in there and kill that money grabbing prince.
Weren't these part of the Rocky and Bullwinkle show?
As kids, we didn't get the satire. Originally "Rocky and His Friends" was prime time and enjoyed by adults.
Well, it’s not as worse as what the Prince did in the book
You're thinking of 'Sun, Moon and Talia', not 'Sleeping Beauty'.
i would like to know on if you might have the Fractured Fairy Tales cartoon the Frog Prince and should you do then could you please Post it here on youtube,
I love these
❤
Really good message in their about the greed in Mouse land!
How would the comic book thing work?
