The characters in the cartoons make _off-the-cuff_ remarks about something that resonates with the comic sensibilities in adults; whereas the same words could leave kids being a bit puzzled about what was said.

Way back in the mid-1970s I was doing delivery around Los Angeles. One of the places I would go to see was behind a store at the top of the Sunset Strip was Dudley DoRight's Emporium. A great little store with everything Rocky and Bullwinkle, etc. available. I would have to go to the back because that's where the artists were who created Rocky and Bullwinkle and Boris and Natasha, Duddley DoRight Nel and Snidley Whiplash, and Sherman and Peabody, as well as all Fractured Fairy Tales had their studios. The artists were a group of fun guys to be around. One thing I do remember well was the large ice cream freezer in the back room near the back door. It had at least 10 different flavors of ice cream in 5 gallon vats to choose from. It was one of my fond memories of a somewhat low time in my life.
