- If you haven't watched my review of my GLX-5600 then here's the link • CASIO G-SHOCK GLX 5600... and in that video I mentioned that I might replace the bezel and strap with full metal... well today is Judgement Day and in this video I show all you need to know with a full fitting tutorial
I bought the kit from Aliexpress, and as prices and build varies it's good to search around, so make sure you review the feedback from the seller to see how others are liking them. The kit supplied is nicely made, but I have to add, this isn't on the level of G-Shock, it's an aftermarket kit that's good for modding like I've done, if you want top notch quality then CASIO all the way!

Nice evolution. I've spent hours hunting for spring pins in the carpet.
Now a good tip to find small things on thick carpet... place a light sock over the Hoover nozzle and hold on to it tight, and the rest I'm sure you'll workout... a clean sock is recommend, unless you love the smell of Nacho cheese LML :-P

You laughed, when you looked at the bracelet link. Me too. I would call it Chi-Shock. But the result is cool and absolutely presentable. But I have to tell you honestly, I would be very afraid of ruining the soft screw thread with the new screws. But if everything went well, it's ok.
Well, you know me by now, I zoom upon those little details, but this isn't that bad once on the wrist, and it's not going to break like that cheap resin bracelet I reviewed, that was nasty :-P

Had to pop in when I saw the splash screen in my feed. I have metalled one of my G-Shocks like this and love it but what caught my eye was the C70. I have owned both the soft-top version (an '04 HPT) and the last year of the hardtop, a '13 with the Polestar upgrade. Cheers!
You're the second to mention the C70... well that belongs to Mrs Rangeman, and it was me that mentioned VOLVO, as she wanted a comfortable hard top convertible... the really funny thing was when she drove it on her own for the first time, was the engine sounds broken... I ran outside to hear it, and what she didn't know, that her last car was a 4 cylinder, and the C70 is 5 cylinder... that really worried me, as I looked a few before picking the one she has... really low miles too at 37'000m so pretty much like new all round :)
I'm a big fan of VOLVO, and would be my second choice after my SUBARU Forester... do like the older square shapes too, but don't see them anymore :(

@@WatchUP69MrRangeman Yes, I owned three Volvos in total, those two C70s with an S60R in between, and the 5-cylinder "thrum" is an acquired taste. Always wanted to put an exhaust system on the C70 as I heard some that really sounded great. Volvo isn't as into the way an engine sounds and that was a shame. And I agree about the hardtop. When I sold the C70 I upgraded to a 435i and love it! Now that BMW has gone with a softtop on the 4 series (as well as a snout only a mother could love) I will have to go with something else for my next ride unless they come to their senses!
@@davidrosenblum2178 Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the VOLVO 5cyl engine used in the FORD Focus RS? now that would make a great sound with good exhaust ;)
I've seen a few of the C60's but they get more and more rare to spot now, but something about the solid build of them. I did recommend the MX5 hard top to Mrs Rangeman, but she wanted 4 seats, and I must add, even my legs fit in the back of the C70 ;) She was looking at the BMW's too, so my bad for making her look at VOLVO'S instead, and once she saw the C70 it was a must, mainly because 70 is her birth year, mine too and not 69, that's our birth months if you didn't know ;)

In fact searching here for "Volvo C70 exhaust" almost has me wishing I'd kept mine and put a system on it. It was pristine when I sold it. Great video,see loads of finished ones on eBay for around 150 with the watch,if only they did a screw on back conversion.
I've seen many from the 5610 series, but nothing from the GLX-5600... I've not actually looked if anyone has done it, as I didn't want to spoil it for myself... I would totally recommend the GLX-5600, and the metal kit too... but for now, it's staying in my collection :))

I have that exact strap and bezal set on my 5610 and like you loved the full metal look but wasn't up for the £300+ price tag so mine cost about £130 all in. Love it my fave watch by far. Only downside is it blinds me everytime I wear it driving on sunny days!

I had twice the B5000 version, and flipped them before I wore them too much, as they really do go down in price when marked! They were hitting the £800 on the secondary market, ouch if you bought one back then... but the kit makes a huge difference, and it feels better, as it's not going to lose money, as the kit can be used on another G-Shock... can understand it can blind, just roll the sleeve down :-P

You make want to mod a square G myself.
It looks like a very satisfying upgrade.
That kit looks like top quality.
I could even buy a tatty second hand square and make it look better than it ever was!
The clasp looks better than the one on my GST-B200D.
They even used Casio’s brilliant springbar adjustment system, very nice.
Coming from Seiko watches and a Citizen, I really can appreciate the no nonsense adjustment Casio implemented.

This kit from Aliexpress is good, I've had slightly better, but overall it's good quality for the money... easy to adjust and fit most importantly, and the afterglow once it's all fitted makes a huge difference... I'm not into white watches, so the silver kit is more suited... The GLX-5600 version I have, already has those Geneva stripes going on, so it looks like it's factory rather than a mod :))
You can make any dull square look great again, and there are some great colours to choose from too... mine cost about £100 all in with the watch just to give you an idea... if you're not sure what bezel kit fits which square just ask me and I'll make sure you choose the correct one, as it can be a minefield which one fits... cheers :))

The metal kit has really made it feel more manly as the white even though is nice, does have that toy side... if I was younger I would wear the white, but these days I seem more to edge with Batman blackout LML :-P

I've tried chatting to a few people thinking they're into watches, and they just leave you hanging, so really it's for you and your mind thinking it's to be shared which is a rabbit hole for sure... there's only a few good watches that can be spotted from a distance... and that's why I also enjoy watch group meet ups... think there's a watch fair coming to Birmingham this year, and a great way to really meet nutters like us LML :-P don't take the Mrs, they'll just roll their eyes LML :-P

Nice vid! I lol'd at the Seiko vs Citizen & the more "sssccc" then cut 😂 These days Citizen for me idc. Anyway just gettin into square G Shocks & got myself a GW-B5600. Its Bluetooth & I assumed I needed to choose 5610 on a conversion kit BUT it sure looks square vs rectangle like in your video. Its hard to say for sure as I dont have the other model type to compare. AliEx always has a drop down fir 5600 or 5610. Ty brother

@@sebw3964 I have a kit on my website for sale LML :-P it's the rainbow heat treated version, and I have to add, it's the better version than my silver GLX-5600... there must be many factories making these, but some just have a little more better fit and finish over others. The kit I have for sale has a 'G' on the inside of the bezel, and my GLX has nothing at all, wonder what you have on yours? ... feel it can be pot luck when buying from Aliexpress... but why CASIO don't make these kits themselves I have no idea???

@@WatchUP69MrRangeman yes there are a couple of Kit making factories on AliExpress but I have no Clou about which makes the best.But I'm happy with my i'v got.I unscrewed my bezel and there is nothing on the inside.You can buy original casio steel parts but only the bezel for a 5610 is more expensive like a whole Kit from AliExpress 😂 it's crazy
@@sebw3964 The original metal bezel is very expensive for sure, thus why I went to AliExpress LML :-P I'm happy with mine too, but the one with the 'G' inside just has a little more refinement, not much but next to each other you can feel the difference... but after it has been worn a few times, then it really doesn't matter :-P
I was looking at the GW-9400 metal bezel, but after seeing a video, I'm not impressed at all, feel the squares are best at the metal bezel side :))

I have to be bias too, the GLX version I have really makes the metal kit work as if factory... I've seen a few pictures of others that have done the same, but I was intentionally not looking as I didn't want to spoil it for myself... yep, am really liking it! :))

Cuando compré mi GLX-5600 por primera vez, lo primero que pensé fue que un bisel plateado y un brazalete funcionarían bien ... y verlos terminados fue pura satisfacción ... Lo he estado usando principalmente en todas las buenas ocasiones a las que asisto. , y es bueno que yo sea el único que lleva un combo así :))

Cheers buddy... have just measured the widest part... so that's beyond the case, past the end link just hitting the first link edge on the bracelet, which is 58.7mm... the case is 46.5mm long and 43.1 case width.
As the links can manipulate back on themselves it does fit more close to the wrist, as the resin strap does have that pre-curve that can't be pulled down tight if that makes sense.
I really don't see the difference in size with regards to the lug to lug measurement... I'm not going back to resin and have no intention to flip the GLX-5600... way to useful and that Timer is brilliant, plus it has the tide which I like very much... if you have the same model like mine, then the silver really does work... it's like it was meant for that kit :))) I did think about the other options, but the polished silver just suits the Geneve surround on the dial :))
It's one of those nice G-Shocks that you don't mind if the tough gets going while out on a nice occasion :))

With the end lugs being solid this will in fact improve the stability, as on the GW-B5600, that uses the same principle... That NOKIA does power up, but it's SIM free, so won't work with a call... the Samsung is still fully functional and I did use it not so long ago... the days when it was about being small LML :-P

@@traviswalker8933 I can be such a tart sometimes... ok, this GLX is now my favourite square LML oddly my DW-5000c isn't :-P
When on the wrist, the actual load is still between the case/lugs and spring pins, but if you look at it upon scale, it can take a lot more than the kit... now those adaptors can put more stress on the lugs, as the gap between can no flex, and with the GPR-B1000 a few have broken their lugs because of those adaptors... jaysandkays nonsense again most likely!

I was concerned about that since I had seen some people who had broken lugs on their watches and seeing that the metal bracelet mod on the GA2100 has the bracelet attached with the bezel.
@@traviswalker8933 Well with my experience with jaysandkays they've proved themselves as being arogant and all about making money, and really have no care if watches get damaged... look at their responses in eBay to buyers, that's just balls out nasty with some of their replies, and no need for it... it's not just about the product, it's about who you're buying from too, and there's no way I will support such a company... in my opinion with my experience, G-Shocks are better left alone, but modding using their own parts is the best option.
I would like to know how these lugs are getting broken, the plastic cases are solid, so are they getting broke in extreme cold temperatures? Anyway, my GLX with its chrome finish will be having a very luxury life now unlike my other regular G-Shocks, so chances it'll get to see mud would be if I spun and tipped my car over, flying out of the windscreen landing in a farmer's field LML ;-P

Hi, I made exactly the same thing with my old 5600 glx cause it's strap was ruined from have been used hardly. The mine has a blue/orange finished display that really make it noticeable over it's new metal case. But I prefere the Yours...and above of all I'll prefere it with its original plastic light and more sporty strap.bye!
If we look after our favourite G-Shock Rangeman as I have the same favourite as you, how long do you think they will last as long as we treat them well ?
Even if you treated it badly, it'll last... the only things that start to get worn are the resin bezels and bumpers, but if you treat it caringly, then it'll last for many decades... super cool you favourite the same G-Shock :))))) Cheers!
I bought one G-lide + metal kit for 90€, i already have a 5600 with a gold metal kit.
Well that's a good deal all in for €90... seen the prices for the white GLX-5600 increase a little, not from my video, maybe I just got mine at the perfect time... but what a module hey, and the LCD looks so HD :))
I've not seen anyone wearing the gold kit, and to think about it, don't see anyone wearing the silver only, where are they all??? LML :-P
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman The G-lide i bought is the black version, still watch + metal kit for 90€ shipped is good IMO, a 5600E where i live is 70€ (Italy) I usually wear my golden 5600, the only thing i don't like about it is that draws much attention, a friend of mine said he saw the watch sparkling under the sun from 200mts away while i was walking towards him :)

You'll have no regrets my friend... I bought mine from Aliexpress, and as prices keep changing it's best to search for the best deal at the time... the one I have is good for the money, there are more premium ones, but the difference isn't going to be the deal breaker, so for £50 or so for mine, or hitting towards £100 for the others if you want a little more refinement with finish.

It will increase the lug to lug, but not by that much... sometimes you just have to ignore what watch guru's tell you, and just enjoy what you like... finding the perfect fitting watch will need to be tailored made and built into your wrist... the 5600 design is still being made today since they started back in 1983, so that just shows how in demand it is today... I say risk it all as it does turn the watch into a new watch, and all for £50 almost :))

Just a quick reply to you, yes, the 5610 is what will fit... just check the space between the buttons, the 5610 is wider than the 5600 bezel, I know it's confusing, but if not sure you can also send me a picture and I'll confirm via my website... cheers ;)

just look at the space between the buttons, yours is short and that's really all you need to look for if you're not sure.
