  • In this video I turn Natural Edge Vessel from a root of a Yew tree , It was quite a challenging turn with all the dirt etc that you find in root balls and there was a massive amount of hand sanding involved but Its a stunning piece to look at and full of character .. I finished it with danish oil ..

@@AndyPhillipWoodturning 100% agree. I'm not creative in the slightest and have an odd dislike of earthy tones, but the colours in that wood are unbelievable!
Out of interest, how much, typically, would a piece like that sell for?
PS This isn't a "muh price" type of question. I'm always amazed when I watch genuine craftsmen produce a piece of work and, more so, the amount of time that is put into it. I work in tech and don't even want to think about the amount of money the company I work for would charge for that amount of time D:

I have been watching several of your videos and i am truly in awe. You give a whole new meaning to wood turning/carving and it is absolutely beautiful. I have fallen back in love with wood because of you but i am now 70 and know it wouldn't matter what equipment i had i could never dream of producing what you produce. You are a wood artist. The root has been shouting that she is beautiful from the beginning. Beautiful earth work. I like that you didn't choose to destroy it with resins. A lot of work, obviously a lot of sharpening on your chisels but the result has rewarded you.

one of the most beautiful results I have seen. A metaphor for life…beauty in the ugly, or going through a process to get to the best part of life etc. I would have that on my display any day, beautiful grain.

the before and after is just jaw dropping. I would have loved to see the holes filled with epoxy resin. But It's a matter of taste. But also ensure that it can be used, not just look pretty.

Thank you. I never tire of watching an artist at work and waiting to see what transpires. I think that is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen made. It should be in a museum so that many people can see it and admire how beautiful wood is and how wonderful that there are craftspeople who can use modern machinery to bring out the beauty in the world. Thank you again I shall enjoy watching this video time and again

Randa basoola etc I watched them long to work like mending our "charpais, tables chairs and so many other jobs which they used to did by their hands. I realy love to watch.
