krumhorn=16th century kazoo. I just discovered this channel. It's great. I love the sense of humor, combined with the period instruments and the skill with which you play them. Very, very nice!
I see you as pure genius. Thank you for keeping 'Early Music' alive at a time when these delights are not appreciated as much as they should be. Wow...fantastic.. to be able to play so many instruments... I say again pure genius... and many thanks.
Very beautiful indeed! I love this kind of music! And you are a real multi-instrumentalist! I have actually found four crumhorns at my school here in Sweden. Haven´t been used in ages, my teacher says. Anyway, This is high quality stuff! Keep up the good music!
Oh, I am overjoyed!!! I can't wait!! I have a number of recordings I could suggest for reference. Two good ones are here: search on RUclips under "Les baccanales" and "Michael Praetorius (1571-1621) Ballet des Baccanales". For one with only crumhorns, "Michael Praetorius - Dances from Terpsichore" (begins at 3:58, and is connected to several other dances). Anyway, whatever you do with it will be better than anything else. :-) Once again, THANK YOU for even considering! Warm regards, Joel Rian
This is fantastic - thank you! (also, I'm laughing because at first I was thinking - gee that's great so many young men interested in playing this music!) I have subscribed - so glad to find you on here.
I stumbled onto your channel looking for videos of crumhorns and I'm completely floored by your talent with older instruments. Makes me want to play crumhorn now. Very well done!
Very enjoyable. Such unity of tone and feel. And what's it like being one of such gifted septuplets? ;^) Rehearsals must be complicated, working out who is whom.
Quel merveilleux souci du respect de l'authenticité, vous inspire, Eduardo ! Merci pour votre belle contribution aux plaisirs partagés de l'écoute de la musique ancienne !
These are cool :D! My first thought of the sound was like: huh, an otomatone sounds like that quite a bit. I love old wind instruments. Like the racket.
For your consideration, here is another idea: "La Bouree - Michael Praetorius" uploaded by 2ndPyleOfVinyl, performed by David Munrow and the Early Music Consort of London (Angel, 1974). This album has another example of Baccanales on crumhorns "Suite De Ballets - Michael Praetorius", although it connects to two other ballets with horns. I like just the "baccanales" part on crumhorns. Once again, thanks for even considering. I have become a huge fan of all of your work. Warmly, Joel
Beautiful composition! I have heard the Crumhorn in Chip Davis & Mannheim Steamrollers music but never knew what it looked like. I think it reminds me of the Recorder that I played as a youngster. I'd love to hear more :)
Brilliant job! My wife and I got both got a real kick out of this video, and the music was excellent as well. I was just researching some early music tonight (cornamuse and Glastonbury pipe, specifically) and happened to find your posts. I'll definitely be listening to all of them - keep it up!
Yesterday I had no idea what a crumhorn was. Today I am just a little bit smarter. And much happier for this sprightly music. I thank you from my heart, Eduardo.
@JonnyTenebrous Hello Jonny Thank you for your words! It´s really very good to listen those kind of incentives! I will be thinking in the next project, wait it soon =) ! Kind Regards from Brazil and thank you!
Hello! Thanks for enjoying. The instruments played in the begining are called crumhorns. In your language should be cromorno or cromorne :) Saludos de Brasil!
Being a Baroque musician (Cello), I LOVE this--Crumhorns are simply too cool!!!!!!!!! Great work...ich liebe alles was ich gehoren hab'....Ausgezeichnet!!
Well done! Very lovely and a refreshing change from modern stuff. Question - how do you ensure that you don't rush or drag at all in terms of tempo when you've recorded yourself playing seven different instruments? Do you record one instrument first, then record the next while listening to the previous recording and so on and so forth?
Absolutely amazing, both musically and technically. You really ought to bring out a DVD of these wonderful videos. Where did you get the music for this Castell'Arquato? I can't find it anywhere.
Hello Roger! Thanks very much for enjoying it!. I never found this score. I just take it from ear listening a regal recording from youtube and then just wrote the inner voices. Would you like the score? (i must check if i still have it). Send a e mail to eduardoantonello@gmail.com and i will reply you. Best regards, Ed.
Greetings dear...(?) ! Thanks for youe enthusiasm :) I´ve been a little busy and away from youtube but i should upload something in the next weeks. Ballet de Baccanales is a great piece and love it to. I must check the possibility to play it with crumhorns but this is a nice sugestion! It will take some time but im gonna try it if possible :) Regards and thanks!
Greetings dear Joel! Your enthusiasm "infects" me" Thank for all your instructions. Im gonna watch it and see what i can do :) Regards and thanks again :)
Thank you Ben! Very kind of you! For this video i used all plastic reeds but depends. I´ve been trying some combinations and sometimes i mix them. I live in a place that kind of reed are not avaible so i dont have much option. I think there is a big sound difference between the cane and the plastic but i think the plastic is much more pratical. Usually i think the cane is much harder but oscilates much less. I´ve already listen some people saying that sound wasn´t so much "buzzle" Regards!
Okay, this is something I know about. Crumhorn’s are NOT kazoos, they are reed-cap instruments. There is a double reed, like an oboe or a bassoon inside the cap they are blowing in. That is nothing like the kazoo, which is sung or hummed into and has a membrane inside that vibrates. Kazoo’s were known as mirliton’s at that time (see Tchaikovsky’s “Dance of the Mirlitons” from The Nutcracker, often mistranslated as “Dance of the Reed Flutes”) and in the renaissance the closest thing was a Eunuch flute, it looked like an instrument but inside the cap was spider web which would buzz when the instrument were sung into. They were used to equalize voices and to instrumentalize the voice when performing consort music.
Sorry, Eduardo, but you are brazilien and not playing samba?! Deepest respect to yourself and your countryman Nana Vasconcelos, who worked magic (solo) at a big concert hall in london when I saw him. Almost brought the roof down! By the way, I really love samba too. And as a fairly old man, I'm very happy to see that gifted young musicians don't care much about how new or old the music is (fashion). I 'm english, now living in Brittany, France. There are plenty of young groups keeping traditional breton music alive and kicking on electric guitar and saxophone. Good music is eternal, don't you think?
Ray Kent Hello Ray! I completly agree with you! Music is eternal and there are good and bad music. And that´s it! I must tell you i´m not a typical brazilian who enjoy football and samba. I know the importance and value of a good samba but i still prefer XVII century french music =P .Anyway, i´ve been in Brittany last year and it´s an amazing place. I´ve loved to walk in Saint Michel´s bay. Best wishes!
Dear Eduardo, I absolutely love your videos! Truly high class. I wonder. . . do you entertain requests??? I'm a big fan of Praetorius. One of my favorites is a simple, earthy piece called "Ballet de Baccanales". There are other RUclips versions, but I wonder if you would consider doing an "Eduardo version", with crumhorns? These are just ideas, but I would personally be overjoyed. I look forward to anything you produce. It is truly masterful and the best.
I think this is brilliant!. I'll never tire of watching and listening. My friend and I are trying to learn the Crumhorn and having a lot of fun in the process. It's such a fantastic instrument and this is an inspiration to work hard!
¡Hola Eduardo! He descubierto tu canal hace unos días y estoy enganchado a ello. Gracias por tu buen gusto. Te escribo desde Bilbao, España. Creo que entenderás bien el español. Si lo prefieres podemos estar en contacto en ingles. Un saludo! Jesús
Like and subscribe these kazooooo guys??? =P
Crumhorns, not kazoos.
No wonder they liked these in olden times, such a unique sound, almost like the first synthesizer.
I think this timber works perfectly for video game music aswell :) Best
I have recently acquired a full set of crumhorns - would you happen to have references to pdf downloads of scores? @EarlyMusicinadifferentway
I just love that crumhorn sound so much.
Indeed it´s very cool :)
clyde bink if acapella and kazoo had a child

When you can't find enough Crumhorn players for your jam band so you play all the parts yourself
Hahaha that´s is the point!
krumhorn=16th century kazoo. I just discovered this channel. It's great. I love the sense of humor, combined with the period instruments and the skill with which you play them. Very, very nice!
It sounds like a mix of the kazoo and the otamatone... I love it!
Glad you like it!
I see you as pure genius. Thank you for keeping 'Early Music' alive at a time when these delights are not appreciated as much as they should be. Wow...fantastic.. to be able to play so many instruments... I say again pure genius... and many thanks.

I love the idea of a school with stray crumhorns
Oh, I am overjoyed!!! I can't wait!! I have a number of recordings I could suggest for reference.

Hello! Glad you like it!
Are crumhorns chromatic instruments? Thank you for posting videos of this rare instrument. Nice playing, and nice outfits as well!
Thanks! They are chromatic but some keys does not work very nice as they are not tuned in equal tuning. Best
Your matching costumes are great! You got costumes for each of your clones. lol
I love how the bell of the tenor crumhorn and drum gets cu off while you are trying to make it look like you are conversing with yourself.
Well the video is only half the entertainment. The rest is the sound, and you got that down packed. Great job. I like it.
I stumbled onto your channel looking for videos of crumhorns and I'm completely floored by your talent with older instruments. Makes me want to play crumhorn now. Very well done!
Thank you very much! Crumhorn should be played by everybody. I´m glad you decided starting on it :)
All the best!
Very enjoyable. Such unity of tone and feel. And what's it like being one of such gifted septuplets? ;^) Rehearsals must be complicated, working out who is whom.
Hahahaha indeed. Those guys are not easy... Best!

We love it when you play with yourself! What fun. Thanks.
