HI, I'm waiting for my UK student Visa. I'm planning to book ticket of Air India Airlines through MMT (kolkata-manchester). It's been written that Transit Visa required. Is Transit Visa still required for my since there are no Gulf countries as layover options?
If it is a direct flight or if you land in UK directly from INDIA then you don’t need a transit visa
@@BritIndians no. There are 2 stops. One is delhi and 2nd one is Paris or Germany. I’m not getting any gulf country layovers from Kolkata
If you are having a stopover in Paris or Germany then you have to get a Schengen transit visa.
If you have a U.S. visa or Canada visa then you don’t need to get the transit visa.

You have to apply for the Schengen visa through the respective website - either france visa website or Germany visa website then you have to visit vfs global website to book the appointment for the visa. The visa will take atleast 15 working days.
If not then you have to find a flight that doesn’t go through Germany or france.

Actually you can contact air INDIA and ask them. They will ask your student status and your ticket pnr.
Mostly this is available during sept intake but you can try for Jan as well

It’s 2 x 23 kg = 46 kg
But check the allowance when you select the fare.

If you have UK visa then there is no need for Transit visa. May I know for what purpose going to Glasgow. Since Im also from Chennai going to Glasgow for studies.
