Yes they started students offers from 30 September 2020 till 30 November 2020. They give 2 x 23 kgs of luggage (totally) and 10% discount

Bcoz as per air India baggage allowance it 2 x 23 kgs and they have student baggage allowance also. So you can carry 3 x 23 kgs. I have enquired with people who travelled recently.

“Hey everyone, reached UK. I came through Air India from Chennai to London via Delhi. Both the flights were on time. No food in the chennai to Delhi flight. Packed food on the Delhi to london flight. In flight entertainment worked but you'll have to carry your own earphones to use it. Just have to fill the UK passenger health form 48 hours before leaving. No Covid test required. Air India also allowed me to carry 3 pieces of check in luggage ( 3 x 23Kgs each) and a hand baggage of 7Kgs (you have to mention that you are a student). Would definitely recommend Air India as they were the only one allowing so much luggage for 37K. Hope this helps. Cheers.”

You can bring oil upto 3L. But you cannot carry any diary products like ghee.

I know One person who went to UK with ghee in checkin baggage. But I got caught in Edinburgh airport. You can try if you are lucky u can get through 😅 no big prob though.

Update: I had a word with BA customer care guys and as per my booking I can carry cabin bag (55x45x25)cm upto 23 kg and hand bag(40x30x15)cm upto 23 kg...2 checkin bags of 23kg each.
Considering the dimensions of hand bag and cabin bag...one can’t put 23kg stuff in them...I assume...
