@0:17 Right-hand drive conversion, but keeps the gear level & e-brake on the driver's right side.. Quality conversion. 10/10.
One of the coolest automotive channels out there. Keep up the good work!
How to turn of the airbag light (works for any car):
1. Pull out the speedo.
2. Remove the lightbulb for the airbag light or cut the cable
3. ...
4. Profit!
"moog taste test", I cannot believe you guys know those two crazy Aussie's.
We love Moog's automotive archaeology!
You can't believe they know the most popular DIY car show on YT?
lol i'd be upset if they didn't know
I'm glad I saw your video. Now I know what to expect when I switch seats and steering wheel. Thanks for education
Take the light bulb out of the back of the gauge cluster. No more air bag light. Or stick black electrical tape over it ;)
did this with the ABS light in my truck, good solution lmao
It may come to that!
add a resistor in the empty srs clip and voila no more air bag light
also the reason the momo resistor isnt working is because you have a yellow srs plug in both seats so they will need the same resistors
Appreciate you guys showin them goofs in addition to all the work.
I have a momo prototipo in my miata. I picked it up from JRP in Mississauga and i've never loved a steering wheel more.
really enjoying this series !
shifter on the door panel?
It's a new trend!
Lol, you beat me to it.
That was going to be my first ever comment
Lane Pulcini ford had it on the old cobras
Lane Pulcini right 😂😂
It looks dope, so much more racecar now
To disable the airbag light you need to find out what the standard resistance is of those airbags and put in the appropriate resistor as if the car still has them in it.
Haha "moog taste test" good to know they watch mighty car mods!
those nikes that peter's wearing are probably the comfiest and most excellent shoes of all time and I need another 2 pairs
For airbag light, get the 2.5 or 3 resistor on the wheel hub, and get install the loop in the seat conector, check wich ones is the right
Now you have a peso for when you go to mexico 👌🏽
The autel 619 scanner does srs codes and its pretty cheap (about the cost of taking to dealer once, plus u have it for later) keep the good work Guys!
1:44 That's what we always are lookin' for in our car
Quick release would work well. Moves it closer, and easier to get in & out with the new buckets.
That's our plan!
Talks about the convenience of buying prepackaged nuts and bolts to install seat....still needs to find a bolt and nut for the seat belt buckle haha there is always something
Next episode you should put the Mullet Mustang on a diet! Gut as much as possible including rear seat, all the carpet and sound deadening, interior trim and door panels etc. I bet you guys could pull an easy 300-400 lbs out!
Pull the srs code. see wether its for steering wheel airbag or seat buckle
-Resistance check the 2 terminals on the old airbag and use a resistor that matches the same ohms
- if worse comes to worse . Electrical tape over the light
fuck off
Wrench life 604 testing resistance on the air bag is not a safe thing to do
how so ? i do it all the time
Wrench life 604 resistance testing applies a bit of power to the circuit which has the potential to deploy the air bag.
not to shit on you or anything but thats total bro science
Yes you are correct. Always disconnect the battery before you remove airbags, but first turn the ignition on and then remove the negative cable from the battery. As youre connecting the battery you dont blow the airbag to your face because the ignition was already on. Safety first guys!
That MOMO steering looks sweeeeet ! Nice job SA
keep em coming boys!
Absolutely love the Mustang!
My last name is mullet and I approve this build
Thanks Mr. Mullet!
Subscribed because of Mullet Mustang... awesome project. Hated the wheel though. Need a deep dish!
Awesome, love this Mustang build!
i love that mullet mustang intro
I have the same car love what you guys are doing plus you guys occasionally crack me up lol. can't wait to see what the cams add.
Cams are on the way!!
i have a tip for the air bag light... don't look at it or take it out of the cluster :)
You guys should bring the mullet mustang to a ToppDrift event this year and do a video there!
That's the plan!
I love this channel
good Canadian boys
OMG PT SWALLOWED THAT PENNY WHOLE. (Working clickbait title)
Opportunity missed on the clickbait title! :P
There goes the turbo upgrade...
why keep the rear seats in with these seats in the front? they would be inaccessible.
That's a good point. Time for a rear seat delete.
Yes and then install an half cage with harness!
010FSL101 they do have sliders. The rears wouldn't be inaccessible; just really inconvenient.
i see your point but still... there's no reason for them to be there if it's gonna be used at the track.
I know. I wasn't saying they should keep them. Just saying that for someone else doing this kind of project they could theoretically keep the rears if they wanted to
that steering wheel in the mustang reminds me of the scene from DeCaprio's Howard Hughes movie where's he's picking out steering wheels for that huge airplane he's building
Hey guys, have you heard of, cars on fire at tremblant this summer? You should check that
Black paint over the airbag light.
Anyone else notice PT pulled the hand brake on the wrong side? Am I really at that sad of a point in my life?
Beakz_ there are a few cars that have the e brake on the door side of the seat. The early C4 corvette for example.
true... Still doubt it was intentional.
Beakz_ it was for sure a brain fart moment
check the resistance on the DAB you removed and match it
If the steering wheel is to flat, Techno Toy Tuning sells spacers in various sizes to space put your steering wheel closer to you.
seat position sensors are impossible to beat
If you disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes and reconnect, it should forget the airbag light. As long as you get the wiring resistor sorted.
you could just get a steering wheel spacer to bring it closer. Techno Toy Tuning makes a really nice one in 50mm and 75mm in many different finishes
One of the aims or objectives in any Mustang is to try to lower the curb weight by 300 to 400 pounds. You should have weighed the existing (seats, bases, tracks, bolts, washers) versus the new. How much weight saving did you accomplish? I heard that some OEM seats weigh 80-100 pounds
Mesuring the resistance of a airbag is a bad idea because your multimeter send voltage in the airbag to get a resistance reading. Anyway keep up the good work guy!
A multimeter has a very high internal resistance, so it is very unlikely that it can emit enough power to trigger the explosive. That said, I still agree with you that you should never connect anything to an airbag, as static discharge can trigger the explosive. Airbags are no joke, they are high power explosives and can cause serious harm. When handling an airbag, keep your hands away from the surface, store an airbag with the explosive facing up, and new put anything (tools) on top of an airbag.
Léon Melis you're right but I would not take the chance anyway. Like you said even static can cause you trouble
Avoid testing any air bag with an Ohmmeter or touching air bag terminals, it is possible to detonate the air bag explosives and there are too many cases where has caused severe injury.
There is an independent shop near me where a technician was testing an air bag out of the vehicle in his lap with a meter and it detonated, he experienced several broken ribs, bruised heart, punctured lung and impact damaged lungs, ruptured bladder, explosive concussion, lost his spleen, had multiple surgeries to repair his bladder, pancreas, liver, intestines, spent over 3 weeks in ICU, spent another several months in the hospital, many months of rehab and is now permanently disabled and unable to work.
His initial hospital stay cost over $400,000 and last I heard the insurance company was trying to not pay for anything because they say he was negligent.
Measuring the resistance with an Ohmmeter is not necessary.
The vehicle specific factory service manual usually lists the resistance the SRS computer expects.
If you cannot find the resistance specifications, contact a dealer or contact the vehicle manufacturer directly or the seat or steering wheel manufacturer directly, explain what you are doing and ask for the specs or their approved procedure to satisfy the ECU/ECM/PCM/BCM/SRSC when the air bags are disabled, disconnected or removed.
Look at all that change under the seats, that's good for at least a few Tim Hortons trips eh 😂
Double Double and a few maple dip donuts for starters.
Maybe a quick release would bring that wheel out enough.
Yup, we were thinking the same thing.
Just put a potentiometer in and manually adjust the resistance til the air bag light turns off
those yellow connectors where seats where will need resistors I can't remember size but with them unplugged u get a pretensioner code or a zero wheight sensor code I forget to be honest
hello! try potentiometer (adjustable resistor) i had fixd same problem few times with it.
I swapped the seats in my A4 and drove for a while without a passenger seat. The seats have airbag sensors I guess in them and my airbag light turned on. It wouldn't go off even when I put the seat back in and plugged all the sensors back in. Not even if I disconnected the battery to reset the computer. I have scan software and I could not clear it.
I didn't have to go to a dealer. A shop down the road from me invested in thousands in diagnostic equipment and they were able to turn off the airbag light for me and it cost me about 42 bucks and I got a 3 page printout too of all sorts of diagnostic information that you normally can't access with a consumer grade scanner.
I wonder what the weight difference is between the powered seat and non powered momo. I think a rear seat delete would work good for this car. Cool episode.
The weight difference was 8 lbs per seat, so we saved 16 lbs total. We may do a rear seat delete at some point, perhaps with a roll bar :D
I CANT WAITTTT
I was going to say isn't there a side air bag in the seats? if there is that would cause the same light to be on.
the factory seat probably has a weight sensor that would trigger the light
Nice!
I would prefer the wheel to extend towards the seat much more. Are you guys removing the rear seats to continue that racing look and audio feedback in the cabin?
Agreed, we need to space it out, maybe with a QR hub. We may delete the rear seats and do some other interior tweaks soon.
pop the cluster and remove the light for the airbag....... easy fix
Which Super cup size you picked up? Normal or XL?
maybe measure resistance of the parts removed.. and use a resistor of the same value?
Can't you just pull the fuse to turn the airbag light off ? I've been thinking about changing the wheel on my gen 4 Camaro , so it would be cool to know how to get rid of that light .
If only it were that simple! Pulling the fuse will still trigger the light.
From what I've always been told and understood, "deleting" or removing any part of the SRS safety system; deactivates the rest of the system and shows "faults". Basically anything in yellow 🙄😂
while you had the seats out why didn't you put a bolt in roll bar.
Took long enough for this episode
moog taste test haha, i thought before you said it lol
Are you guys running the original seat belts on those fixed back seats? I didn't know the seatbelt would work due to the raised sides of the seat!
They are a bit low to buckle in but they still work.
Dave, please tell me what boots you have! lol they look very nice
Blundstones. Love em, super comfy with the sheep's wool liner.
Thanks!
be careful with those seats you dont want to get jaked
Anthony Perez Jaked*
is it gonna hold them up? hate to see what other side looks like
Don't know the capabilities of your diagnostic tool. In case you wanna read the ABS Module for fault codes, FORScan Lite for Android should be able to do this. It can read most modules hocked up to the CAN Bus.
Thanks! that's a great tip.
did you disconnected the battery before removing seats and wheel safety first guys
Yessir.
Are these standard seats or XL ?
Nice video continue the good work guys ! Just a litle question,
Why didnt you strip down the back seat, speaker etc ?
Rear seat delete does seem like the logic next step. Stay tuned!
I always smash that motha fuckin like button for you guys!
Also I am surprised you guys didn't talk about how much weight you saved. I am sure rear seats are coming out since they are pointless and when they do please break down the weight of everything.
sadly, we actually shot a clip of us weighing the seats but we gapped and didnt put it in the video! As for removing the rear seats, the little weight it saves it's not going to add up to much other than make the car that much louder.
maybe a dumb question but i thought rails on bucket seats werent as safe as the buckets being in a fixed postion?
We've never heard that. Maybe there's a slight chance they could come apart but I would assume that would have to be a very high impact. Recaro certainly tests the rails for crash standards.
maybe if you install a quick release the steering wheel come of a little bit.
Don't like the Wheel at all :P
What's the size?
Its a 350MM and QR is on the way!!
That's what she said 2:03
What was the weight difference between the new and old seats?
8 lbs each
So what was the total cash count?
so many double doubles under that drivers seat
will you guys run this setup at the track? stock 3 point, seats, and an aftermarket wheel? (no harnesses)
We talked about adding harnesses in a later episode which is the plan. If we have bucket seats we always run them with harnesses.
This car is more racecar than those stupid because racecar stickers on random si's and wrx's that sit in parking lots...
UnderAchievr LP lmao that's so true
when a light doesn't go, you tape it black or remove the light. lol that what i did on my s14
Take the cluster out and take the air bag out so you will never have the air bag light on
is there a reason you didnt take the back seats out?
how many lbs weight reduction with the new seats ???
anyone else waiting for another Targa Newfoundland?????? please
We would love to, but need a big sponsor for that because it's a pricy event.
great video guys. just out of curiosity I was wondering if there was any way of fitting the seat to the factory auto seat track, or if u guys even considered that route.
There might be a way to do it, but it would require a lot of work and would likely result in the seat sitting too high since the power mechanism on the driver side in particular is quite bulky.
I hate it when I find the wrong socket in the right slot too.
fuck yea i picked upa momo for my celica a while ago
Y not put an RB motor on the SR 20
take the light bulb out from behind the dash for the airbag light ;)
Just pull the airbag light bulb, boom problem solved
Would you be willing to donate the driver seat covers and the plastic cover that holds the seat controls to a new fan? My red drivers seat is split to heck and my plastic button holder is cracked off.
also will you sell those old seats?
that wheel looks super tiny
It's a 350mm wheel, which is pretty typical of a race wheel, but we agree it looks a bit small in the Mustang. We'll give it a try for a while but may end up going to a larger wheel with some dish to get it in a better position.
Oh wow lol that's insane, I guess the interior makes it look like that.
What size was the momo super cup seats. And too bad they don't come in red.
The size is the stanard, not XL
If moose is ever going drive this thing he will not fit, maybe a bathtub will do it. ;)
