The 143 car is the very first all new design to hit the Eastern division since the Multiple Unit articulated cars.
Even the R16, when new,still looked like the IND design beginning with the R1.
The 143 was a recognized approach to the needs of the next generation of subway riders, making use of space comfort and the passengers need of being informed.
The R110B was a test for the R143

They were on the M in like 2006 and not today. The J/Z has them occasionally. The L is the only line that has them in regular service.

Only thing is, only the east and the C line operate Eight car trains.
So R143 cars will basically stay in the east, since they were built specifically for the Eastern division lines, And specifically for the L.
However,once the four car R211 cars arrive, the 143 can move around the system, particularly the M line since it will be a CBTC route along 6th Ave and Queens Blvd.
By the way, the entire Eastern division is NTT cars only, now.
If the sets Are broken up into ten car trains, the ideal line for them would be the C,due to its fleet requirements.

Its the same propulsion and that is an r143 not r142, r142 has a different propulsion
The R143, R142 and the R188 trains sound like the British GWR Hitachi high speed trains that we have in the UK
I think the R160As and some R160Bs have the R142 propulsion, and the R143 has the R142A propulsion.

I see R143 almost all the time I think it’s mostly common in the L line try waiting for a L train Approaching New Lots Avenue I see most of those there
