Building the RUDDER - for a Vans RV 14 Airplane Ep4

In this video I build the Rudder for my Vans RV-14 airplane. The video is a complete start-to-finish for this section of the aircraft. In addition to the rivet squeezing and bucking, this video also covers back-riveting the skins of the rudder on to the stiffeners in the substructure. Another new topic covered in this video is the rolling of leading edges.

I think the Vertical Stab is built with RV7 parts (VS 7xx) and that’s why they aren’t final drilled. Same with some of the rudder parts (R-912). When you get to the 14xx, and most of the 10xx part numbers, they are final drilled. I’m enjoying the series, thanks for putting these out

That makes sense. Thanks for that. So far the vast majority of the HS parts and skins have all been final sized. Glad you’re enjoying it!

Really nice Bob! Excellent details and diagrams mixed in with the cut out parts. I know how hard it is to record while building and then go edit in your “free time”. If I ever build a 14 I’ll be referencing your videos for sure!
