Going into Pyro, you're sort of 'forced' to compare it to Stanton, and you realize: What we've been playing for the last ten years is just the table scraps, fallen from the meal prep of what they're *really* cooking for us. It's going to be so hard waiting for dinner now.
@@danielc9967nah, in pyro everything and I mean EVERYTHING looks lived in. Used. You feel like parking a far distance out and working your way in is not a waste of time. In Stanton, everything looks empty and cookie cutter. Totally different experiences. You'll definitely play the game differently in Pyro. You'll be more cautious. You'll explore 10x more. Just in the station alone (Checkmate) I was finding alternative paths in air ducts and loot boxes. Explore the Galleria area. There's more to it then you first expect. You'll need to search. Not going to spoil Easter eggs. Sniper rifles and SMGs are going to be your best friends. Especially sniper rifles. Shadowfalls (i think is what it was called), my first time going there I got stuck in the middle of a huge gun fight between a carrack crew and some other crew lol 🤦🏼♂️ I just low crawled behind rocks and watched it unfold. Picked up the scraps after everyone died lol I heard gun shots here and there and started sneaking through a crashed caterpillar section and then tracers flew over my head so I hit the dirt and hid out. It's very immersive because there are no crime stats. I'm sure once reputation comes into the game with different factions, you won't want to shoot another faction member cause you'll risk losing rep and access.
I think the best way to describe the 2 systems is that Stanton is functional and made for a space sim and Pyro is made for an actual game. Just the difference in art direction alone is crazy. Go on to any planet or moon in Stanton and all of the outposts outside of the main cities feel so fake and just placed there for pure functionality, but all of Pyro's areas are made with intent and feel like actual towns from a real ass video game. I think the new bunkers they showed off at citcon are a good move in the right direction for updating Stanton but as it stands now Pyro is just so far ahead.
Watching this video I'm realizing that the main thing the game needs to be fun right now is some kind of super aggressive alien creature they can spawn in the caves, probably some kind of insect. These cavern settings with the eerie lighting could be put to great use if there was something actually in the shadows. If there was some "thing" we could go after in the PU they could also add these to the prison mines and instantly make the game like 100x more fun to play while they work on other things. Something that could hide underground or in the walls and ceilings then crawl out like the insect things in Starfield would be amazing.
Dude first thing I did when I got in was one of the cave missions. Had only one FS-9 mag on me and wasn't expecting much hostility. Those aggressively pushing AIs are impressive! I barely made it out alive :D
Thanks @SaltEMike for this summary view of your first Pyro session. Useful for those of us where the initial session times are a bit awkward. I managed to have a go for 30 mins of Pyro preview before work in the first session, but neither stayed up late enough or got up early enough to have a crack at the second window. There's at least tomorrow evening and Sat morning, my time
Re: only being able to EVA to the maintenance area. There is actually an elevator from the galleria, it's a non-obvious 1 jump puzzle to get to it. The elevator is in the area with tons of trash and a sort of path through the trash to a lower level (the elevator is up above this to the right).
Mike, this is the most genuine and amazing Pyro playthrough I've seen so far! Lil bit of PvP, bit of PvE, some genuine exploration. AMAZING stuff, solid "real" organic gameplay simply cannot wait for Pyro to hit Live.
So happy they put all guns on sale. I got them all in large numbers. But this will stop gun trade for extortion price for others who have less time ! I soooooo love it.
I would hope they either jack up the price on the rarer weapons in the shops or we can hope they just put all that there for the sake of allowing you to quickly gear up for the short time you have on the Pyro playground. I mean, look at quantum fuel values on ships right now.
@0riginalFIR3 I wasnt talking expense, I was talking quantity in the fuel tanks on your ships. To that point however, I bet QT fuel would and should be expensive due to rarity, especially in Pyro, especially considering the R&R gangs control a lot of it and unfairly jack up the price knowing full well the stranglehold they have on that market
@@0riginalFIR3 what @schlagzahne6741 said. It would add realism that this would indeed be a lawless system. Only place to find fuel would be the pirate heaven base or some small pockets of civilization, hidding from anyone due to piracy. Rarity = Higher Demand = Higher prices on average. Obviously, a balance needs to be there so the game is still playabe. But this is an opportunity for refueling and exploration vessels to shine (having capacity for large quantities of fuel).
I kind of like the solar flare thing, especially when you fly decoupled 😎 No comm Array is a good incentive to play multicrew ships and have escorts, had a blast last night with the org.
as long as they adjust the prices, i think that getting weapons and stuff back to stanton will be profitable for people who want to avoid going to pyro for them
LETSGO. I was here for this and was a funny experience. I did feel like it was Red Stanton but there is definitely differences. It was hard surviving for how hostile things were but it was a fun challenge and immersive
So Mike discovers a loot box with clean water, and is like same as Stanton, Copy Paste. I was like you forgot the toxic water you took up at the start of the stream. That would be a legendary find in Pyro. Still, this is Red Stanton as Mike explained, they need to dial in what makes Pyro dangerous.
what makes Pyro dangerous? Have you not seen the massive solar flares that will make you fall out of the sky? Or even kill you if you get out of your ship?
I heard rumors that new water fx stuff was in, but couldn't check on Bloom between bugs and crashes (and a fat-finger incident with camera modes and key maps) any chance you guys were able to confirm or deny?
Why does SC inventory icons aways bug out? I laterally quit the game when I tried it. Are they ever going to fix this? Edit: "Who want's some noodles?"
They seemed to have increased the TTK, I was did mission and took a lot of hits but didn't die. It feels better balanced now because in Stanton I would have been incapacitated after the first burst of bullets.
ngl, I'm super tired of everything in 'immersive' games being foggy. The real world isn't so goddam foggy all the time. Well, outside of the UK and the Pacific Northwest, at least. The lights on the suit are almost counter productive because it lights up the fog so much.
@@myrchantkobold8268 The reason the fog exists in games like this is fog helps cover up LOD pop in and texture tiling on the ground. It has nothing to do with realism or atmospheric composition. So I'm a bit more forgiving there, but it still is not realistic. My complaint is that in areas where LOD's wouldn't be an issue, e.g. Caves, the fog is an aesthetic choice that art directors need to get over. It's stupid. It isn't realistic. It actively impedes gameplay. Also, Nitrogen is 70% of our atmosphere and it doesn't reflect light like that. Smoke is likewise not a valid excuse away from a source that is actively producing said smoke. This is an excellent example of overly permissive head cannon bullshit.
@@jackinthebox301 The planet is was hit by an asteroid, smoke and dust are normal. Pyro 3 has very little fog etc. If it's to save you from seeing distant assets why would that one allow such long visuals?

Pyro is not even worth playing in. In the current state of PVP. It would be wildly different if there was actual internal systems and armor with a recalculation on how damage is taken so our ships aren't just blowing up within seconds. A tier one ship can take out anything.
