Broken down on the highway with a loaded semi

- This is definitely not the most fun I’ve had trucking corn. Come along for the ride as I get towed off the shoulder of the highway by the biggest tow truck I’ve ever seen. Also, I try to use my new stock dog, Ruby, to load a bull into a trailer and it’s the beginning of maple syrup season!
All you need to do is train ruby with a “come behind” command so that she comes around and gets behind you, so you can start over.
Yesterday we visited a friend in town that has a custom built sugar shack. He taps 75 or more trees. In the shack, he has a huge stove made out of two oil tanks fashioned to burn pallet wood. Next to the shack, he had an insulated bin packed with snow to keep 10-32 gallon garbage cans of sap ready to boil off. For him is is a fun diversion.
In a season he does many gallons of syrup but gives most of it away because he does not want to deal with state and county regulators.
I'd love to make a wood fired boiler! But, then I start to think about how easy my current setup is to start and stop and I start to "lose steam" LOL
Thank you Carl another enjoyable video.
Glad you enjoyed it
I always get a little jealous when you start your maple syrup. As usual though, I’ll be heading to a sugar bush this weekend. Great video, Carl.
It always feels like things are coming alive when the sap starts to run.
You guys are still having winter. Here where I live in NC the maples are blooming, the daffodils are blooming, the willow trees have pale green cascades, and the forsythias are beginning to bloom and most of the flowering shrubs have very fat buds.
Punxatawny Phil shouldn't try to predict the entire country's arrival of spring. It's a no win situation.
Haha yeah he can't be right for all of us can he?
man a good set of chains on the front of that pickup are gold on ice for sure
no shout out to mcdowell truck repair
I forgot to ask if they were ok being mentioned so I didn't.
Frustrating enough, I'd rather one ride in the tow truck than Ron's oil pressure sensor troubles!
4 sure
Soo...is there a 'preferred' side to a tree trunk for tapping?
Ideally you would like the southeast side which catches the most sun early in the day and starts to thaw out first, but you end up having to space them out anyway. I've never noticed a difference in volume from one side to the other.
The are a lot of videos out there you can watch
Hey! Do you have an email address?
Sure do. dodgebrothersfarm@gmail.com
I liked the shot of the other grain truck passing you while you were being towed.
Yeah I bet he was getting a good laugh
A great video and enjoyed watching you get towed LOL. Over all my 30 years of trucking guess I was lucky only had to get towed in only once.
I hope I can be as lucky!
You should have bought that fancy semi you borrowed last year…..
Really wishing I did before the price went up
You’ll get Ruby right before long. There’s another channel that is starting to use Precision Planting parts on their planter. Might be a good collaboration.
Who's that?
@@dodgebrothersfarmandranch9206 10th Generation Dairyman he has around 400k subs. One of his recent videos had him installing Precision Planting parts.
I don't know what kind of dog you got, but I guarantee you, border collies that chew and destroy everything need more human interaction to get rid of their crazy chew everything energy
border collies need almost an hour every day of running after sheep or playing fetch to burn off energy
Yeah, Lucky is a one year old border collie and she loves to play.
work on trucks the last 14 years n14 are gret but there getting older great engine simple to rebuild good luck with the syrup
You like Cummins?
Yes I do! But just the older stuff. I wouldn't want anything after the N14
Don't worry your dog will soon have you trained
Haha yeah
You have to teach her to drive she was gathering to you
I have learned that gathering is a border collie's natural instinct. I need to work on teaching her some specific directional commands so I can send her where I want her to be.
@@dodgebrothersfarmandranch9206 yes and teaching her to drive will be a challenge but fun she has a lot of instinct she will do well
