Between Deere’s over use of electronics, shoddy workmanship in the factory, and a dealer who should have inspected that new corn head pre delivery all spells major trouble that should never happen!
I’m going to mirror everyone else’s sentiment. Your dealer should be ashamed of themselves. Hopefully that’ll be the end of the problems. Thanks for sharing, Carl. Another great video.
Sorry you are having so much trouble to start off the harvest. It is a real shame that there is a lack of pride in workmanship and service these days. I do pray that you have a safe and successful harvest in the end. Stay safe and God bless.
Carl, those new heads are shipped vertically and attached to a steel shipping frame, and stored at dealer same way, explains the accumulation of dirt underneath and the paint rubs. What’s concerning is that head was obviously not pre checked at all by your dealer prior to delivery. That’s unacceptable! I’m a 76 year old farmer, seen a lot in my day, obvious to me your dealer failed you totally, and Deere quality has gone down considerably. Their greatly increased use of electronics has caused way too many issues with tractors, combines and planters. Last spring there were numerous headaches with their planters because of electronics, lost valuable planting time. Deere needs to get their act together!
Working out a few bugs at the start of harvest is par for the course. It looks like you found a whole swarm of bugs this time. Hope things improve for you soon. Thanks for the video Carl!
Sorry that You are having trouble. I know that Farm Machinery is Expensive to fix. My Parents are retired now, but We used to raise Chickens for People to eat. We always had The Occasional Beak Down. I understand what You are going through. Best of luck on fixing it.
Personally, I always ran all IH then Case IH. Never had such shoddy issues as those. My dealer wouldn’t let any machine out the door that had not been thoroughly inspected, adjusted, cleaned, paint touched up, lubricated, test run, prior to delivery. They always had a tech in my field on first run day to make sure all was correct.
You seem remarkably good natured about this so far. Off camera were you fuming mad? Interesting thought that the electronics that many are complaining about are not the problem. The dealer owes you a big explaination about that head.
I work for a Deere Dealership and we have been having some issues with the new equipment, and a lot of the same things happening with your head has been happening with others as well right from factory
That is really unfortunate that JD did that didn't try to make your new head experience a better effort. As much as equipment costs it shouldn't have rust or dirt on the new piece. Unfortunately we just lost a john deere store of 75 yes to corporate who wants to make 1 large company to have so many store that they have forgotten customer service
Well Deere has been on strike . Neighbors of ours don’t even have their equipment yet. I’m on my second Chevy truck this year so I think it’s the new norm . ???
I guess Electronic and Computized systems are supposed to make things better, but they can be a real headache if they don't work like they are supposed to.
You may get a number of excuses why there are problems with the new corn head, but when it is harvest time and the clock is running, only one thing counts and that is performance. I would be looking for reliability data on Deere and competitive equipment and be talking to people who make other colors of equipment and make sure the Deere dealer knows and understands that. It reminds me of an old southern saying, "that dog won't hunt".
@@dodgebrothersfarmandranch9206 They certainly one of the best. In my view the dealer failed as well. Unless they worked around the clock from when it hit the lot until delivery to you and it came wit a list of exceptions, their standards are lacking. They need to get that message! That was part of my point.
Well I would say you definitely ended up with a deere that's got that chronic wasting disease, hopefully deere makes it right ,but it honestly shouldn't have even been sold in that condition but ya better have something lined up because you can probably guess the outcome of this disaster,
No idea how much a header costs but if I bought something new and it was in that kind of shape for that amount of money ... My anger would be at stroke level.
I hate to say this but it may be time to upgrade to IH. We run JD with the exception of our combine which is red and white. I can't imagine how disappointing that is for you.
Perhaps this is another reason to buy red, and not green. Walker Farms has this atitude. And, I am surprised that MillennialFfarmer still sticks with John Deere.
@@lonepine5596 I goofed. Majority are made in US with some from Germany too. I misread an article talking about how some JD's tractors are assembled in China. Still, from the problems shown on this head in the video, it makes me wonder.
All of the problems you are having do not speak very well for your local John Deere dealer. I would be absolutely livid and on someone's butt big time. Completely unacceptable.
John Deere, as a company needs to reflect on what made them the best American made ag-equipment manufacturer worldwide. I know that lenders have failed to recognize that the quality of the equipment reduces maintenance and retains value far longer than other manufacturers. Lenders make money on input financing and less on equipment. They should be examining this as well. And John Deere should be shouting from the "roof top" the value of their equipment. So poor marketing on Deere's part has affected the company's ability to afford quality control and supervision of labor. Short-sighted on each party... and who pays the price? The American farmer.
That's what happens when you get product from another country you never know what brand or what germination or length of days it could be all mixed up you could have 90 day you could have 120 day all in the same bag is what I'm trying to say
I am not even sure you can call those a John Deere issue, kid of sounds like more of a John Deere dealership issue. Seems like you might have got a head that someone else returned.
Seems that this is a this year is something going on it seems like everybody's having this problem I don't know if it's the GMO that they messed up this year or something that went on but everybody seems to be having this exact same problem between at least 10 to 15 different channels that I watch and obviously there's thousands and thousands of farms out there so it's just a 15 or so that I watch you're having this problem and I'm talking about the exact same problem All Over America from one end to the other you got to imagine all the other forms that are not on RUclips or having the same problems and then you got to wonder why is it just this year that these things are like this something happen and the shop the manufacturing of these things I mean something right seems like something just as weird about all this especially since everybody's having the same deal and let's face it when most people are using the same you know seats for the most part so it's a little strange and it's actually very strange
Deere has really gone down hill since 2005 we run 4 9250s and 2 S790s and those 9250s blow away the competition Deere is 40 years behind in the rotary combines

'Not the ideal day' yes but you pay for something better than that - props for pushing through and staying positive.
Wow, your job is quite the adventure! Thanks for posting.
Rust and wore off is from shipping crate as they are shipped on edge.

Quality workmanship has suffered last decade or so. You got a good attitude since downtime is costing money.
Can you give the name of the yield picture app. Looks like a great tool.
Geez, that’s a NEW piece of equipment! Oh hell no.
Wow that's some pretty shotty workmanship, is there another jd dealer around there. If I was a part of that dealership I'd be so embarrassed.
I would like to know the app for the kernel count
We had the exact same problem with our new head. Apparently it's more of I widespread issue than we thought
Your head was stored and transported vertical, explains the wear marks on the water ponding under snoots.
As long as you were shut down did you find out what's wrong with your fuel or did you call back to check that out
That corn head should never gotten out the factory door!
and the way it looks, I am not sure what year it came out the factory door and yes I have read the many other comments.
Probably assembled by scabs when Deere was on strile.
Hello from hurricane ravaged Sarasota Florida
I work for a Deere Dealership and we have been having some issues with the new equipment, and a lot of the same things happening with your head has been happening with others as well right from factory
Just unacceptable. With the prices they get for this equipment it should be top notch.

To me it looks like a reman/franken head built from odds and ends to get a 'new' head out the door.
Good content. 👍

John Deere have the head made in chyna?
Paint issues were probably from the crate/stand it was shipped on.
Wow I'd tell em to take that green piece of junk and stick it

It's ok you can say it Case IH is far better company then JD its just a fact
Time for a red combine?
Amen
@@ROCK-s1t my brother is a farmer and is green everywhere except his red combine.
Time to upgrade to a Drago Corn header.
Personally, I would demand it be replaced by a new one!
I agree but no guarantee the replacement will be any better.
It took them a year to make this one ☝️
Deere factory quality control has serious issues!
The GMO corn and beans are bringing bad luck.
I typed out a message and then I deleted it… If that was on my dime… sigh!
Best to stop here.
❤❤❤
My wife just walked in fussing at me. Oh boy!
"Nothing runs like a deer", I didn't know they meant the fluids all over the ground.
Deere has lost all credibility it's time to make the switch
Looks like maybe it's a not so new head, or just new to you...
Poor seed quality on the soybean seeds, looks like another maturity variety got mixed in the batch
Id be sending that head back. That's ridiculous
Someone with red is having the same problems with there stuff they said they weren't the only one
Looks like Deere hired a bunch of former Burger King employees. Just go ahead and call your local CaseIH dealer.
You can't change these brain washed Deere brains. It's green or nothing !! They will pay that extra money just to say I own a Deere !!
Seems like you should be getting a new head, for free
With what those things cost that was ridiculous.
Is there a lemon law on corn heads? That head is terrible.
Perhaps this is another reason to buy red, and not green. Walker Farms has this atitude. And, I am surprised that MillennialFfarmer still sticks with John Deere.
one of the biggest reason is that MF has a dealership in their back yard.
I would send it back, that shouldn’t be considered a new front. I think JD are losing the plot
Boy, JD quality control is not good!! That’s very disappointing for what they cost. Your Dealer really let you down IMO! Deere better shape up!!!!
I'm pretty sure all JD combines and heads are made in China now. Seems all they make in the US anymore is mowers and small tractors.
Totally wrong!

Could be an ex - demonstrator head
time to go RED
Absolutely
