  • Although this home is in Redwood City, the renovation would apply to just about any ranch home....anywhere. This dated ranch home was renovated from a 3 bedroom to a four bedroom. The homeowner made the kitchen and living area into a beautiful great room space. This is a fantastic template for how to renovate a standard 1950 through 1965 ranch home. The beauty of a ranch home is that it is typically one story, and very livable. They were constructed with modest kitchens and separate eating and living room spaces. By combining all three, you create a very desirable home. The use of the master bedroom suite as a getaway is a nice touch.

I too, prefer my sink in the island. I don't want to miss a play when watching football. :-)

    Anne,
I love this house! Unfortunately, I live on the east coast but the idea's your video gives will not go wasted. I've been looking for almost a year but am holding out for a ranch that I can upgrade like yours. Will you be posting other ranch homes? KenR

Hello East Coast House Hunter! There is another video where they made a similar but larger home ultra modern. Personally, it is a bit too pristine/sterile for me, but same idea. The REAL benefit is that you can live in a one story home.....pretty much forever. I am delighted you liked the video.

Sony HX9V fitted with a lens by HDHat.com
They have an excellent wide angle video camera that is far less expensive. This camera takes great photos.

Anne Arjani I also own a ranch, a little bigger than this one and I always wanted to know why can 2 homes the exact same cost drastically different prices depending where it's located?

Denise, I will take a WILD guess: This is the Silicon Valley where it is expensive to live and work for EVERYONE. My guess: $175K

My own mother would love a laundry room. But this is for my own mother middle sister & my niece not for me.

The master is very tight and the closets are child size. They should have went with less bedrooms to obtain a larger master & walk in closet.

sweetmsroslyn yes, I so agree, but this is in the very expensive area of the San Francisco Peninsula, close to Palo Alto and Stanford University. This home has doubled in value in the past four years.

Lauren, You are right, this is a "somewhat busy" street in Real Estate Parlance. This home is in the Silicon Valley. I has appreciated 43% since I made this video in 2012 from about 800K to about $1,248K. We just have no new housing or place to build, so although it is a busy street....it really doesn't matter.
