    P.O.W. House rent averaged $90 to $125 a month, plus a share of utilities. We ranged from 8 to 12 people living there, depending on the month. The last time I counted (late '93?), the Wall of Fame had 147 full page photos of people who had stayed at the house, and were good enough riders to have a full page photos in some magazine. That doesn't include the P.O.W. residents wall, which had all the official "residents" who lived at the house, and there were 22 total.

    1:29:00- Bordello's- Ricky Rachtman's club. When we first started going there, it was a Red Onion restaurant during the day, then a club Saturday nights. Todd would wander off in every club, exploring. He went into the kitchen area, found an office, and found a stack of about 100 "Get in free before 10PM" passes to the club. We got there about 9:58 every time after that, and 8 or 10 of us would walk in, and the bouncers would ask, "Where the hell did these grungy guys get the passes? Those are for women!" We got in free, and poured beers from an unused tap all night, every time, after stealing a bottle or mug for the first beer.. Until people started getting kicked out, a couple months later. Thanks for the good times Ricky R.! Thanks for the passes T.L.!

    I worked for an SE/Fuji dealer for many years but around 2015-2016 SE blew up I couldn’t keep any of the models on the showroom floor. It was so crazy but so cool seeing all those kids coming in buying them to ride with their friends! I do wish I knew more about Todd Lyons though and his story super cool to learn all this and loved this pod a lot!

    In 96 I definitely got DQed for a 360 during a heat race. I was not going to place in the race so I just threw it. The ABA rule they claim I broke was not keeping a forward momentum. My friend and I would go to the track every Saturday night for a couple months. Ultimately we got in a brawl with some rich farmers and we ended up with a track ban. We would be racing guys in the full head to toe matching gear. I was a street and dirt jumper and thought it looked fun. We did not take the racing seriously but would contently place in the main and they hated that. The guys with the paper plate number plate beating the fully kited out guys was not a good look. It was fun while it lasted. We would get wormed up for our heat by pouring a 40oz and a clamoto into a 64oz cup from ampm. PK ripper was the only bike I ever broke. One of the original loop tails. It was a awesome frame and fork supper light compared to what I had ridden before. I totally think I would love to have another one but I would not risk it. I don’t hammer bikes like i used to but now I way twice what I did so probably would not chance it. They do look amazing though and definitely brings me back to the days.

    1:54:00- OK I lied. The Irvine Spectrum Troy McMurray/Deegan fight. There was an early scuffle that day. Later, during the Metal Mulisha's demo, with maybe 1,000+ people watching, the Mulisha guys, 5 of them, stopped mid demo, got off their bikes, climbed a chain link fence, and went after Troy, in full gear (full face helmets, boots, leathers). One ran by me, and I grabbed him from behind, had him so he couldn't move (total luck). 3 or 4 were fighting Troy. I pushed the guy away, and he turned to fight. I wound up getting my head stomped on by 3 or 4 of them, Troy faired better. I left soon after. My head was sore for 5 weeks, lost about 80% of my hearing for three weeks, think they cracked my skull a bit. A BUNCH of people shot video of all of that, never seen any of it. Long time ago, water under the bridge...

    As far as the #bikelife thing goes, when I started freestyle riding, the top pro racers all said freestyle wasn't BMX. They came across as dicks. To me, BMX is a type of riding, not a bike. Anyone with an issue with #bikelife riders needs to go ride with some of these guys. They are talented and have amazing bike handling skills. It may not be traditional BMX but these guys can ride! They deserve our respect. If you are a BMX rider and complain about the #bikelife hijinks, you're a hypocrite. Look at all the trespassing and property damage BMX'ers do. Sure, swerving at cars is stupid but so is doing a 360 down 10 stairs into traffic or parked cars.

    • @ArnieJames666
      @ArnieJames666 6 месяцев назад

      Wheelies on glorified hard tail mountain bikes in giant groups holding up traffic is lame as f*ck no matter what, it is not at all representative of BMX. Sorry not sorry. I don't hate Todd but I hate that bullshit. Those bikes are ugly as f*ck and their riders are simply annoying, it's just redundant, the same ole sh!t with different neon colors and some annoyingly loud speaker blasting techno trash sh!t music. I keep my mouth shut but I just wanna throw thumb tacks in the street when they come by all loud and cocky. It's all the worst elements of skate and BMX culture rolled up into one and exacerbated by how dumb people have gotten with the advent of social media making people even more annoying for "clout"... This is not what I am about as a nearly 40 year old, life long, extremely dedicated BMX rider, real BMX!!! Not lame ass wheelies to shitty techno.

    “Is it BMX?” Of course it isn’t….
    But neither is Anything on this channel anyways but yet you call the channel Our “BMX”…. BMX is an abbreviation for Bicycle Moto Cross. Bicycle Moto Cross Means Racing!
    The same thing could’ve been said back in 1983-84 when the “trick riders” were what they were referred to but you claim is BMx freestyle…. Which then evolved into different subcategories like BMX street and BMX dirt and BMX vert, and BmX park, etc… it’s all just having fun on bicycles and really has nothing to actually do with actual BMX.

    • @OurBMX

      You have the quintessential old guy take. Definitions of words and “sports” evolve over time, which is why asking the question is important. I truly don’t know if it is BMX or not. Hell, I see half of what dudes doing on MTB bikes as being BMX…but that’s probably me having an old guy take, as well.

    Want to listen to hear his side of the story but Todd has a bad taste in my mouth. Some of the kids he sponsors are nothing but trouble and tried to rob me for my 20in a few years back. Luckily a kick to the kids front wheel made a pile up enough to get out of there but I always feel some type of way I see those same kids posted on SE and with Todd. Never met Todd personally but if those are the kids he kicks it with and puts on makes me question Todd himself.
