I can't believe that you don't have a vet that will come out to you for such large animals.
Vets that care for Large Stock in this area can cover *500 Square Miles. So, Ranchers and farmers have to be self sufficient.

I'm really surprised that Doc has not set you up with a first aid kit with necessary medications to keep on hand for this type of situations. Having a good relationship with a vet willing to give you prescription meds to keep on hand is crucial with any livestock. I hope by now this critical part of your bison ranching has been taken care of.

Yes, this was 2 years ago. If I remember correctly, they thought she had eaten Johnson grass which poisoned her.

That heifer looks and acts just like I did when I suffered heat stroke. Hoss was great in this "crisis". I hope she does OK real soon.
Didn't we see this one in a different episode? Didn't she eat the wrong kind of weed out in the field and it poisoned her and made it made her sick ??
I was thinking the same thing, 2 summers ago when he lost a bison, that ate a poisonous plant.

Not sure where you live but vets some to the farm. You dont have to take the animal to the vet. Hope it isn't contagious.
I do like watching all these videos. However when I first came across the 'original channel' I was very confused as I couldn't work out where you started as I wanted to watch from the beginning onwards. As your video's are all over the place. You've started compiling them here by season which helps newbies now. Another point is you quite often refer to previous videos when talking in a current video-it would help if you could link it in the video. It's impossible to find as you don't have a system, just names for videos.

I'd sure worry about her respiratory rate. I'd think toxicity...something in the pasture or in the hay. I don't have bison but I have had a horse find a toxic plant (lantana) and nearly die of liver damage.
Could be magnesium deficiency.
A cow that is out panting in a field full of her herd in this heat won't move wont get up doesn't startle AND YOU JUST GONNA WAIT AND SEE? I have horses goats hogs and cows. If an animal is sick, you do what you can to help being her water try and move her to shade . She suffered for hours needlessly.

Doesn't your vet do farm calls? Anytime my horse is off or injured, I call the vet and they make a farm call, it's not free, but better than the loss of my horse

In dogs, it looks like gastric tortion, (bloat). Wonder if bison get that. It happens fast and can kill if not gotten taken care ofimmediate;y.

Do you know I’m just gonna say it you guys found her at 2 o’clock here it is late in the afternoon. You could have got Kevin out there. Y’all could have grounded her up put her in the trailer and taken her to the vet but no you want to sit around in him and ha About what to do what not to do what you think it is what you don’t think it is when the doctor already told you that she needed medication that irritates me the carelessness you wouldn’t sit around and wait if your daughter was sick before you decided to take her so why do it with an animal?
