Fantastic Ad! Well done LNER, probably my favourite ad in a long time. Can’t believe some of the negative comments - I’m assuming they’re from ‘Statler’ & ‘Waldorf’ (the grumpy old men in the balcony of the Muppet Show!)
Aww man.. I love puppets!! ANd I love the history of the LNER. But the animation (puppetry) of this character could've been a LOT more expressive. I'm thinking Kermit-like long arms :(
7/10 for the advert. Would be ideal to introduce a new service to other places to expand your network even further. Such as to Scarborough, Hartlepool and of course Cleethorpes.
This absolutely has to be a piss take. Currently sat on the LNER from Edinburgh to London. WiFi is useless and for some reason on thier trains your phone can't get signal, taken me 10 attempts to post this comment. Lumo is fine. Unless you want to be stuck is a metal cage of your own emotion for 4.5 hours take another service. We can put a man on the moon, have WiFi on planes and these guys are still stuck in the dark ages.
Maybe think of making your trains comfortable and on time before making adverts that say you can have an actual enjoyable time (which you cant with those uncomfortable seats on the Azumas)
The Azumas are dreadful things. And latest is that LNER are bragging about bringing London Edinburgh journey times down to under 4 hours, when they were under 4 hours when BR inaugurated full electric services in 1991.
With the removal of flexible off peak tickets on slected routes, i expext this advert would not comply with the advertising standards authority rules. Listen to the soindtrack.
Not freedom all the way when you have to go to the rail ombudsman to resolve issues with the service of the company who seemingly don't care in the slightest about customer experience as a result of staff giving misleading information and bugs in their app they refuse to acknowledge and resolve. Freedom doesn't really align with such shysters.
Unfortunately, I have no choice but to travel regularly by LNER. This hideous advert doesn't do anything to make the experience any better. Why not spend money enforcing quiet in the quiet carriages and providing more luggage space instead?
Seriously, there are already doubts about the running of the railways and you put out an advert with a muppet in it, you do know the meaning of the word muppet right!?

I miss the 225s, which were comfier than the Azumas, but their new trains have quite a lot of luggage space.
