I used to love the 3spd Tamiya transmission but they are bulky and have a lot of free play in them so now I make and sell my own single speed transmissions now which make the trucks drive at a brisk walking pace with lots of torque. Combined with the new Hobbywing Fusion Brushless Motor/ESC makes a really compact set up so you have more room for electronics.
SLOW is King with my Rigs.... I've put 4-1 Gear Reduction Units in all, with 35T Crawler Motors, with great results! All Tamiya 3-Speeds. Da thing about the LESU dat I like, would be that they lock when stopped. I carry HEAVY loads (50-75lbs!!) 😳 The ability to hold on a Hill, would be good. Thing about Grease..... If you can find "Super Lube", buy it! It's A synthetic Silicone Grease, plastic safe, but best of all - dey STAY on the Gears!! 👍👍 No flinging off, like nearly every other Grease. Not expensive either. I have one Hercules Hobby Truck. People love to put them down..... People who DON'T have one! Unlike Tamiya, they actually come with BEARINGS!! Good stuff. I LIKE your "spare parts" Dump Truck! Hopefully I can find video on how you built it.
Tamiya's good point... reliable. They will run for YEARS. I know Leslu is awesome stuff, the gearing is definitely correct. I'm running a Tamiya 3 Speed with a 4-1 Gear Reduction Unit, all Metal.... NOISY!! But the Tamiya is WAY too fast on its own. I also have a Hercules Hobby Truck. LOVE that dey use Brass Gears instead of Aluminum, which turns your Grease into silver PASTE. (Worst thing about Tamiya!) I'm happy with the Gear Reduction Unit, but I do want to try a Leslu
Cool vid and very nice trucks! I'm looking for a 2-3 speed transmission for my king-kong ZIL-130 project. Which transmission (OEM tamiya or lesu 2 speed without transfercase) is the fastest and the most quiet?
What's your overall opinion on Hercules Hobby trucks compared to Tamiya? I'm wanting to buy a Scania, and Tamiya has always been the best in quality and detail, so I dont mind the fact they're a little more money. I'm just impressed that the Hercules trucks come with bearings, opening cab doors, and some say better axles..... What is your opinion on the 2 brands? Pros or cons? Thanks for your great info on these trucks.
Well I love my Hercules hobby arocs , but it dose have a few quirks but nothing crazy , I my self is for a new truck I'm thinking of getting a scania 4x2 from Tamiya . Overall I think it's just as good as the Tamiya , after you take care of the few Chinese model stuff but ya by one you'd like it
I use 35t and also stock silver i know they suppose to be slow but drive my trucks on a very large area and i need little speed so they dont take a long time to cross it .
can u please show more . another look at the lesu box. all set up how u have it . mine is messing up . and shift is at the back dont know how to swap to front mate help please
They are from a old tamiya monster truck called a tlt mini gear . but they are getting really hard to find the tlt-1 is a mid 90's truck so tbe parts and axles for them are getting really rare

They are meant to be slow, it’s a truck
What turn motors do you use?
I use 35t and also stock silver i know they suppose to be slow but drive my trucks on a very large area and i need little speed so they dont take a long time to cross it .
lesu is more life like and has the strong ur paying for that metal gears more pulling power .
Ya I get that but still high price for everyday guy, I'm actually looking to get o e of the 2x4 tractors
can u please show more . another look at the lesu box. all set up how u have it . mine is messing up . and shift is at the back dont know how to swap to front mate help please
Some are like that . it seems it depends on the box and what lesu put it on. I rather of use the back shift. But it wasn't available when i got these.
hi mate . where did u find the front axles. i cant find anywhere at all
They are from a old tamiya monster truck called a tlt mini gear . but they are getting really hard to find the tlt-1 is a mid 90's truck so tbe parts and axles for them are getting really rare
hi mate i have a lesu motor and box . duz your gearbox make a loud sound from it. . mine is and i dunno whats going on. . i have a lesu box 8x10
Ot did it was loud , but i took it apart and added some good hi molly gease and its smooth now .
a link for axles would be nice thank you
Look on ebay they are getting hard to find because the tlt is a really old discontinued truck.
Try locking the Tamiya transmission in 2nd gear
what colour is it on the bottom of your trucks .
Three are black and the 8x8 is a warm grey 90%
