    Excellent video. This is information that enables people to weed out the bad contractors at the first meeting, before sinking money into a doomed project. If you consider the cost of all the repair work done by contractors hired to repair badly installed drainage systems, that cost in the country as a whole would be in the many many millions of dollars. How much work does that dollar amount represent in terms of work and income on the part of the homeowner? That's a direct transfer of money from the homeowner to a contractor that shouldn't be allowed to take your money. This channel is a AAA+ channel. Thanks.

    How deep should I bury perforated virgin pipe in gravel to allow me to drive over it? Planning to lay two perforated pipes next to each other for a French drain in front of my house along the gravel road. Idea is to function like a ditch for storm runoff… but I have to drive over it? What depth will prevent crushing the pipe?

    • @FRENCHDRAINMAN
      @FRENCHDRAINMAN  2 месяца назад +1

      You need to use 3/4" crushed stone and bury it 2ft

    I see you have internal corrugated to 4 inch PVC couplers. But do you have external corrugated to pvc couplers? Here is my planned setup.
    Downspout -> FDM Downspout Cleanout & Leaf Filter -> Corrugated -> Sch40 PVC under concrete driveway -> Corrugated -> Exit
    The connections will be wrapped with 200 year tape. But I don't want any debris to get caught in the the Corrugated -> PVC.
    Thank you.

      That coupler you're referring to springs tight to the inside of the pipe. I've done many videos on it. Unfortunately, RUclips will not let me share a link in shorts

    FDM should have a cabinet position in the White House, or work in the Dept. of Justice to enforce regulations or to create an office that cleans up the garbage contractors in all the trades. It's an almost completely unregulated industry that thrives in the ignorance and fears of homeowners who don't know how build and maintain properties. Like I said in the comment below, the amount of money that the country throws at contractors that don't deserve to take that money is in the many many millions of dollars. When real estate and land values skyrocketed in the 80's and value adding manufacturing jobs either went overseas or were automated, speculation as a way to "get rich" grew in the US like a cancer tumor. The rapid acceleration of land values brought with it a removal of community programs across the country that served as local coops, similar to farm coops, where people could borrow tools from their local coop much like a lending library.
    This created a vacuum. Enter the bogus contractor. If anyone is old enough to remember the TV show "Green Acres," they will know who Mr. Haney. This is the bogus contractor basically. It will take a while for this country to right itself, so to speak. This channel is helping that to happen.

      Drainage is a Gray area, and I really don't even know how to enforce any kind of code. Like I always say read the Google reviews.

      @@FRENCHDRAINMAN I do read all the reviews I can, but there aren't many. Sounds crazy, but it's true.
      I have recently reconnected with an irrigation guy who I used to know, so things are beginning to take shape.
      The NY area where I live is such a busy market.
      My mom was from the mid west. I know it very well - Missouri and Indiana. Good contractors are much easier to find there. Here in NY it's a snake pit.
      Thanks for your replies to me! The great thing about your videos is that you are 100% consistent. You're like a sports coach. Excellent stuff.
