Fernco to corrugated pipe must be glued on the inside. No matter how much you tighten it, water will find a way to leak out unless you seal it.

I've read PVC can be damaged over time by UV. For that foot or two that sticks up and connects to a downspout, would you recommend painting it? Thx.

I love the design engineering the French Drain Man has been doing, but his downspout adapter is problematic if your system MUST move leaves. That screen will clog at every rain event.
I've got pin oak trees and they dump leaves twice a year and pollen once, and I mean DUMP. I am designing a system to go underground to my swales. I think I need to use properly graded SDR35 the whole way and daylight it so the leaves and pollen can flush through the system. Thoughts?

Interested in the answer here as well. Did you make any progress or actually build your drain?

@@jstnnnnn I set up an above ground run of SDR35 using the common pieces available in the landscape area at HomeDepot. I'm finding that if the leaves and pollen clusters make it into the downspout they have zero difficulty flowing through the entire run and exiting. Now, since it's above ground with a direct daylight exit, I have not tested his pop up emitter. Daylight is always going to be better than the best emitter.
But regarding whether 4" SDR flows debris? Yes. Very well. But still make sure to install wyes and tees for cleanouts at the proper areas.

@@jstnnnnn P.S. I'm in the FL panhandle. So heavy rains and a basically non-existent frost line in the soil.
