Are these eBay ballasts really 200W?

- Today we're taking a quick look at some HID ballasts that claim to be 200W from eBay. They're actually pretty impressive.

Hi James great vid. It would be cool if you could heat test the bulbs as compared to halogen bulbs. I want to go with the highest wattage hid kit without damaging my housing. I figure if a housing can handle a 55w halogen it can handle a higher wattage hid kit, just. It sure what wattage
Don’t know if it’s a requirement but many of the kits that sell 75 watts per ballast or more, also use ceramic bulb bases, glass and metals for the build materials. I figure this is so they don’t melt the bulb base and destroy the output characteristics. But I also wonder how well these would do in housings for more than say 15 mins at a time. Because I imagine that these would heat up a headlight housing or a projector, very very hot!
EDIT: I realized that he mentioned the ceramic based bulbs midway through the video lol. So my comment matters much less. Glad he brought that up since they get very hot!
Would want to put those 100watt hid on a separate relay harness directly to battery, stock light wires not made to handle that much wattage
This become over heat or not after use3 4 hour?
Hey James, wondering if there is such thing as an amber hid bulb in h8 form factor? Looking for roughly the same color as the high pressure sodium street lamps
If you get an HID bulb that's rated for 3000k at 35watts, and run it through a 55watt ballast, the color will shift downwards and give off a strong yellow orange color, should be able to find them in H8 size
Bro have u tried the 350 watt ballest?
Thank you very much for thr video
the 350w ballast is available with stage light projector bulb it is a short arc mercury lamp that uses 85v ac power like a car xenon
Also I assume most people have figured out that they mostly list the total wattage for the two ballasts combined. So if you see a 150 watt hid ballast set it’s probably 75 watts each, if it’s 300 watts, then it’s 150 watts per ballast.
150w hid ballast use with osram p-vip philip uhp maybe better than cheap car xenon
But the rated 55W ballast actually output 49W or so.
@James: Wait a second... Isn't this Xentec 55w ballast the same that's in your other video where you established that it was only 35w ?? (using 2.5amp) ??? How come it's running at 3.5amp now?
The one in my early video was sold as a 55w but clearly wasn't. This one was from a different seller and turned out to actually be the correct wattage. I meant to address it in my vlogs, but I honestly forgot. I need to see if there is a way to tell the difference without having to measure them.
@@Jamesthelightguy ok I see, well exactly it would be great to know them right away and distinguish the 35ws and 55ws before buying
what do you prefer for low beams? Led or HiD?
I used to say HID for low and LED for high beam, but LED technology has improved so much (check out the ToAuto, S&D or Light Moses reviews) that I now prefer LED for everything.
Does we use any hid bulb with any blaster , I mean you have connected same bulb with different blasters , please answer .
Yes all HID bulbs use a ballast. Some OEM cars have them integrated into the headlamp housing while there are a variety of options for aftermarket retrofit kits. It is best however to match the bulb rating with the ballast (a high power ballast could cause premature failure of the bulb and a high power bulb may not reach full brightness when using a crap cheap ballast. I recommend purchasing both bulbs and ballasts together).
Can we put a 65w hid bulb to 75w ballast or vice versa? What will happen?
Una balastra de 75w puede manejar una bombilla de 65w sin embargo la balastra de 65w no podrá ya que no está fabricada para trabajar en potencia mayor de su capacidad
What's the best LED bulb to use in a projector housing without dark spots?
HID IS THE BEST FOR PROJECTOR
DDM HID KIT
I waste money to get LED bulbs, but not of them are not good for projector
If you put them in a projector and not reflector would they be fine ?
defenitely dont put these in a reflector housing and still they can burn a projector housing aswell cause some projector housings are cheap cast, i would do a bench test with these in a projector housing over night to see what happen, if it burns the projector housing then these are a no go so defenitely dont put these in your car or you'll have a fire hazard
If this remove the chrome, why use it ?
Any HID system "could" remove the chrome plating on the reflection surface inside the housing if the bulb gets to hot or if the housing is "cheap" and the plating isn't bonded well to the base material.
With a high quality housing, with proper cooling, these are capable of producing insane amounts of light.
can we use 55 wats AC bulb on 100 wats AC ballast
If you want the bulb to die an early death, then go ahead.
95 x 100 is not 950🤣
