It’s not just plays in space to the sideline, it was also deep throws down the middle that the OSU coaches absolutely refused to do against Michigan. Also, the defensive back Burke who has been burned all year did not play at all. Against Michigan, OSU played not to lose, instead of to win, especially with the Michigan secondary in shambles. To note, Smith had 5 catches for 35 yards against Michigan. He got that many yards on one catch against Tennessee.
We SEC fans are going to lose our warm weather advantage if bowl games start being 50% cold weather & 50% warm weather. I looked through the history books and it shows that all 4 times the SEC had to travel up north to play Ohio State, the SEC team lost to Ohio State. The only reason we had a great record vs. Ohio State is they had to travel south for 95% of the games we played against them. Will 95% 5% become 50% 50% ?
ESPN is a f*ing joke. They overstated and tried to make it appear that there were way more Tennessee fans in attendance than there actually were, and painted Ohio State fans as overly fanatical and unrealistic, who actually had surrendered the season after the Michigan debacle. They persistently aired anti Buckeyes signs in the crowd, as well as Tennessee fans a majority of the time, even selecting a Volunteer fan to kick the FG for the $, who failed miserably by the way. ESPN is in bed with the SEC, as we all had already known, but this was a pathetic and disgusting display. The Ohio State should officially sever all ties and any affiliation with Kirk Herbstreit, whose blatant bias call of the game, and comments made during it, were both completely unprofessional and exaggerated. He should be banned from setting a foot anywhere near the campus and barred from all university activities. If his Xichigan bound son inherited his abilities, he will most definitely end up a third rate, below average QB just like his father, who threw twice as many picks than TDs, and was one of the worst starting QBs in Ohio State history.
man u cant blame herbie - that guy bleeds scarlet and gray. he is a huge credit to ohio. if anything he is trying not to appear to be biased to keep his job. if you want to be mad at somebody be mad at ryan day for not motivating his team to beat a 7 and 5 michigan like he did for this game.
We knew Ohio St should have never been an 8th seed. And leaving Bama out, SMU in. These lesser opponents ranked higher total mismatch for them. The committee got the seeding wrong
@damianpresha9833 we all know if SMU played Alabama, who would be th clear favorites. Just because you got beat by a lesser opponent during the season doesn't mean you are a bad team. If you been watching college football, upsets happen all the time. Michigan had no business beating OSU (fav of 20 pts). But they did. Does that mean Michigan ranks higher than OSU? Absolutely not. Teams like Indiana, SMU, Boise, Arizona St, great story but they are not the big dogs. Sorry!
Yes upsets do happen. But what happens on the field has to matter more than Brand mattering. Think about it. Xichigan should be in by brand logic. Defending National Champion Blue blood program. Bama lost to many games. Mathematically you’re out with 3 losses. I know it sucks. But learn and grow from it.
The thing I noticed in this game compared to the UM game was tackling. Michigans defense, at least in the highlight reels, tackled very well. To me that is a huge factor. We all knew OSU was going to lean on outside and mid range, because they excel at that. So did Tennessee. They didn't have very good tackling at the first point of contact. I dont know the exact stats for that, but that is what I saw. I am definitely not an expert.
You didn’t notice us throwing the ball all over the field as opposed to running into a future NFL D-line over and over? I feel like that was an important change in the game plan vs what we did with TTUN.
Sure hope they don't forget this style of play next week ! --- Oregon may have a tough time keeping up with this too ? Knowles will be at his best I believe against Gabriel. The players think they can play much better this time against them ! So looking forward to this game.
Defending Oregon is a tall order for any defense. They have positional speed with a plus one. An elusive QB that can run like a barnyard chicken when a play breaks down. That would worry me more than anything if i were Knowles.
All part of the plan to give Georgia (SEC, SEC) the easiest path to the championship. Seriously, when Oregon as the #1 seed gets OSU and Texas in their side of the bracket, while Georgia as the #2 seed gets Notre Dame and Penn State? And also putting the two best Big 10 teams on the same side of the bracket, while splitting up Texas and Georgia into opposite sides of the bracket to have a better chance of at least one of them getting to the championship game? Tell me their isn't an SEC bias and a plan to get an SEC team as national champion again.
That and are preventing the possibility of it being a BIG 10 match up in the National title game. But hoping Tennessee or Texas can win and make it a sec match up.
Now ppl see why the Buckeye fans were so upset! Bc we all know how talented this team is, & to go out & run a delay handoff on 3rd & 10… MULTIPLE TIMES! Not to mention the 3rd & 8’s and 3rd & 7’s. You run headfirst into their only good position in the D-LINE with a Freshman WR that would get Drafted right now, & try to live off a Kicker that can’t make a 30yd FG… me & my family were almost wondering if the coaches were throwing the game it was so hilariously bad gameplan
One thing that has driven me nuts about the buckeyes this year is their passing game. All that talent, all that speed, plus Will Howard, they very seldom utilized crossing patterns and drags over the middle 5 to 8 yards out. Those are high percentage passes as far as completions, they are quick deliveries, and you get those receivers already in motion running. They are also the type of passes that you can connect on if the offensive line breaks down. All year long I was bitching about it. They hit four or five of those kind of passes against Tennessee . And when you hit those kind of passes, it opens up other aspects of the passing game and the running game. It’s been aggravating to see Chip Kelly not utilize that method and hopefully they continue to do that from here on out.
@Jleed989 They can win the natty and ill still bring up the horrible playcalling play execution of that game till I die. That was embarrassing on another level...
Is Tennessee's defense looking at the sideline/out of position a side effect of the DC in the box? They had major issues keeping up in the Georgia game and OSU wasn't as fast last night but the same issues resulted from it. So many plays a defender was a step or two away from making a play.
Regardless of how this season ends for the Buckeyes...This season will ALWAYS be measured by the fact that they lost to the worst Michigan team in 15 years. That is fact.
Homefield advantage means nothing to Ohio State, if it did they would have trounced Michigan and Nebraska like they should have.. This years OSU team is so unpredictable and thats scary as a fan.
Last time they played they were double teaming Smith and mugging him all night. He was visibly frustrated Hopefully they don’t just key on Smith but use the other talented wideouts
Will Burke and Igbinosun rise to the occasion? Will Knowles play man? I like the creativity with the front 4 to get more pressure. I still say that if Day fails to win it all, he needs to move on.
It’s going to be epic… Oregon is really good but tOSU even in hostile environment can beat Oregon… wishing both teams the best! But the worst place to play is Penn State at ‘home’
Love this rematch for my Buckeyes. Now need to play fast and in space like against Tennessee we will win. OSU has the hardest road to the championship but we want to play the best. Penn st has easy games till they play ND or Georgia

NFL FCS AND DIV 3 have platof systems that work because they take teams that earn on the field and not a bunch of aholes in a room making decisions who goes. The field decides if you belong or not.
it was a great performance. we already knew they had among the best rosters, because they paid 20+ mill for it! so i still don’t understand why they play soft against a garbage michigan team, that made ryan day sweat bullets for the first half and coach like his life is on the line and then had a smile once they were leading by 3 TDs. and i also don’t understand why people thought tennessee was supposed to beat if not keep up with ohio state when 1 the way they play defense in the secondary doesn’t work with all teams, 2 they have a freshman who still can’t consistently manage reads and throw the ball quick, and 3 they had 5 new DBs against NFL draft pick WRs on ohio state. so because of that they slander the conference, lump them with SMU, IU, and Clemson, and say they don’t belong. so who does? Miami?

Oregon has a lot of speed and the best QB in the country. Will Howard is as good as anyone on a good day. On Saturday night he played to his potential that I thought he had from watching him with K State
Ohio State with $20.5 million roster has rebranded as the underdog! There is not another roster with this many NFL guys that can line up with them. If the National Championship doesn’t end up Columbus something will have to change.
NIL spending 1. Texas $22.5 million 2. Ohio State $20.2 million 3. LSU $20.1 million 4. Georgia $18.3 million 5. Texas A&M $17.2 million 6 Michigan $16.3 million But what team do people love talking about and NIL, the 🌰’s LSU with a $20 million roster too sitting at home.
College Football fans are way too reactionary and emotional. I get Ohio State looked bad against Michigan and people don't like Ryan Day but it was always laughable to me that people thought Tennessee had a chance. Remember when Ohio State lost to Michigan and then took Georgia to the wire? Stop overreacting to one game when Ohio State's body of work shows they were significantly better than Tennessee
This proves nothing. If this was last year, they won a bowl game. They couldn’t beat michigan, therefore Penn st. became the east rep against Oregon. The playoff is about second chances. College football needs to return its former self.
SOLUTION TO COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF CONUNDRUM This is a college football playoff point system for a 16-game playoff format. Based on wins, not losses. All teams must beat good teams if they want a playoff spot. This eliminates the chance of undefeated or low loss teams(deceptive) who haven't played good teams getting into the playoffs over better teams which have beat good teams. Best teams with most points get into 16-team playoff tournament. 5 big conferences awarded 3, 2, 1 for each team winning conference opponents. Non-conference teams awarded said points if beat conference teams. Conferences are weighted by points awarding better conferences more points, generally speaking, as a conference as a whole. SEC- 3 POINTS per win, 0 points for out of power 5 conf. wins. (exception ND, UCONN, MASS, which are 1-point rated) ACC- 3 POINTS per win, 0 points for out of power 5 conf. wins. BIG 10- 2 POINTS per win, 0 points for out of power 5 conf. wins. BIG 12- 1 POINTS per win, 0 points for out of power 5 conf. wins. PAC 12- 1 POINTS per win, 0 points for out of power 5 conf. wins. "No conference" and Non-power 5 conference teams only get points from beating conference teams. No conference team's value is 1. i.e. Notre Dame = 1 point, ND penalized for non-conference affiliation. Ex.: if Notre Dame beats Texas from the SEC, they earn 3 points. Texas gets 0 point. If NIU beats Notre Dame, they earn 1 point. If OU beats Bama, OU gets 3 points, Bama gets 0 points. Once conference play starts, must play remainder of season against conference opponents, or power 5 conference opponents. No "off week" by playing lame duck team, like, for Ex: Bama cannot play Mercer week 10 of season. Ex: Bama played OU at OU late 2024 season. OU would've got 3 points, Bama would've got 0 points.
Teams with most points earn spot I 16-team playoff bracket. Most point teams get 1st round bye. Again, based on conference: Conference champion winner gets 3, 2 ,1 point respectively. Looser gets 2, 1, .5 points respectively. Ex: Georgia beats Texas in SEC championship game. Georgia gets 3 points, Texas gets 2 points Ex: Clemson beat SMU in ACC championship game. Clemson gets 3, SMU gets 2 points Ex: Big 12 Championship ASU beat ISU in Big 12 Championship. ASU gets 2 points, ISU gets 1 point AP rank assists in seating of playoff spots.

His other son goes to OSU right?
Kirk Herbstreit ESPN basically ripping OSU fans the entire game
@@prattacasterYes. But two things can be true here.
man u cant blame herbie - that guy bleeds scarlet and gray. he is a huge credit to ohio. if anything he is trying not to appear to be biased to keep his job. if you want to be mad at somebody be mad at ryan day for not motivating his team to beat a 7 and 5 michigan like he did for this game.
@@prattacasteryeap. He plays clipboard!
We knew Ohio St should have never been an 8th seed. And leaving Bama out, SMU in. These lesser opponents ranked higher total mismatch for them. The committee got the seeding wrong
Alabama got routed by Oklahoma what you talking about ? SMU lost to a great team Alabama lost to guys fighting for bowl position.
Bama lost 3 and got routed by Oklahoma.
I am ok with the 12 teams picked
@samreed2066 That explains why Alabama and company didn't make it. They not big dogs foreal only name value nothing else substantial.
Michigan's D line is far better than Tennesee's, that's obvious.
@@rapid13Michigan. You can type it. It’s not painful
@ No thank you.
Yeah. Tackling at the end of a 30 yard pass. Not the point
Oregon beat Michigan by 3 TD's. Oregon isn't getting boat raced
Nice hat
Day finally coached a college style game and NFL style!!
Too bad Oregon and OSU are on same side of bracket
Dude fr! Next week is the natty
I think the OL issues were much deeper during the UM game there was three weeks of prep time after that for CFP.
Sure don't see Burke getting toasted like he was the first time around...
Watch more carefully.
The loss to michigan was the best that happened to Ohio State-woke them up
You mean they were sleeping? Shame
Perfect assessment.
As a vols fan our offense has been weak against actual Teams I believe we can win it’s just up to the offense
Michigan fans can enjoy there Miracle Whip bowl… enjoy👏👏👏👏👏👏
I will in 80 degree weather. Thanks for thinking of me. I thought maybe your mind would be on other things, but nope, we’re still in your head
@Jleed989 They can win the natty and ill still bring up the horrible playcalling play execution of that game till I die. That was embarrassing on another level...
@@Jleed989have fun watching us next round 😂
Cry baby losers couldn't beat Michigan! Go Blue!!!
@@t.daniel5003 what round of playoffs are you in? Don’t worry big bro will take care of business and represent the B1G
agree about home field advantage. But Tennessee did bring thousands of fans.
If Ohio State continues to play this way they would be unstoppable. Would...
2:00 Except when it comes to TTUN I guess.🤦♂
I love how you shut up Kiffin, Indiana ended up giving us the best game of the weekend.
Is Tennessee's defense looking at the sideline/out of position a side effect of the DC in the box? They had major issues keeping up in the Georgia game and OSU wasn't as fast last night but the same issues resulted from it. So many plays a defender was a step or two away from making a play.
I feel a TP flash back to 2010 Ohio State 26 Oregon 17. It's a lock
Regardless of how this season ends for the Buckeyes...This season will ALWAYS be measured by the fact that they lost to the worst Michigan team in 15 years. That is fact.
Weekend episode??
Homefield advantage means nothing to Ohio State, if it did they would have trounced Michigan and Nebraska like they should have.. This years OSU team is so unpredictable and thats scary as a fan.
It was a home game for Tenn …. They claimed it
That Michigan game mhhhh if Will Howard wasn’t playing hit in the head the result could hv been different..
Thought the Shoe was Neyland North
home field advantage only goes so far, tennessee would have lost badly on any field with how this game went
Night games in the Shoe hit different dont you think Klatt?
We are all still trying to figure out the game plan used against Michigan.
Hard to win on the road -- against a much better, more talented team.
Why can't Day fix the Michigan problem tho? From a Buckeyes fan btw
Last time they played they were double teaming Smith and mugging him all night. He was visibly frustrated
Hopefully they don’t just key on Smith but use the other talented wideouts
Will Burke and Igbinosun rise to the occasion? Will Knowles play man? I like the creativity with the front 4 to get more pressure. I still say that if Day fails to win it all, he needs to move on.
Luke Montgomery… wow!
As a humbled Vols fan, I have to admit this wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be lol. Klatt was pretty fair on this.
It’s going to be epic… Oregon is really good but tOSU even in hostile environment can beat Oregon… wishing both teams the best! But the worst place to play is Penn State at ‘home’
Unless you’re OSU. We love the whiteouts!
@@rapid13true.. it’s fun
Oh boy the Rosebowl. Mighty Oregon & the resurgent impressive Scarlett bucs for round 2 is going to be amazing. Oregon's tight ends give advantage
Love this rematch for my Buckeyes. Now need to play fast and in space like against Tennessee we will win. OSU has the hardest road to the championship but we want to play the best. Penn st has easy games till they play ND or Georgia
And their quarterback
Herbstreet is part of the good ole boy system so the same teams gets paid.FBS is the only entity that cant run a football playoffs.
Miami?
FYI Oregon and Georgia spent more than Ohio State on players!!!!
@@DawgPoundStoner1252yeah based on what? and where’s the source. i believe oregon got close but not georgia specifically because of what kirby said at sec media days
College it can be said these huge rivalry games end up much closer or can be an upset. Army Navy, Alabama Auburn, Ohio St Michigan. Sometimes you can throw the records out. These young men and fan bases get pumped for these games.
@@GoatedAtNFS Ohio State paid the majority of that money to bring back there own players. I don't really care if you believe the truth or not though.
After the first round, I'm sure many of us are wondering how much better Alabama would have done! 🐘
Isnt Bama worse than Tennessee?
Bama lost to Oklahoma. No one is wondering.
Broly was OSU. Tennessee was Frieza.
ohio reminds me of a Pop Warner team; forget the line of scrimmage. Let your speed in space overwhelm the other team. Sounds like their defensive game plan was Michigan's game plan.
Bucks abused Tennessee, beat them like they stole something...OH!!!
IO!!!!
If WH did not take that hit in the head in the Michigan game…..
He said he was fine and it wasn’t a factor.
Given OSU just lost to a bad Michigan team where do you think OSU should have been ranked?
Rivalry games are always given more leeway no matter the ranking
Evidently still ahead of Tennessee lol.
@TristenCoon-bw3sn I think they would have been 5th or 6th - outside a 4 team playoff probably
I think Tenn hated the cold.
problem for me oregon is different beast
Oregon has a lot of speed and the best QB in the country. Will Howard is as good as anyone on a good day. On Saturday night he played to his potential that I thought he had from watching him with K State
Ohio State with $20.5 million roster has rebranded as the underdog! There is not another roster with this many NFL guys that can line up with them. If the National Championship doesn’t end up Columbus something will have to change.
How much did Texas pay for comparison?
Seriously? The only thing that needs to change is your mind.. common enjoy some football. Go bucks!
NIL spending
1. Texas $22.5 million
2. Ohio State $20.2 million
3. LSU $20.1 million
4. Georgia $18.3 million
5. Texas A&M $17.2 million
6 Michigan $16.3 million
But what team do people love talking about and NIL, the 🌰’s
LSU with a $20 million roster too sitting at home.
Maybe 30 million?
Oregon spent more than OSU
Vols fans talked all that smack just to get run out the building 🤣
Man, they ran their mouth nonstop and now you can hear a mouse pissing on cotton! 🤤🤫😂
Someone tell me where I can get that hat.
Remember that after the rose bowl
According to espn and abc the bestest sec conference was hurt by not having home field advantage in this game and blah blah blah.
Ohio State is the 8 seed. Seems like that shouldn't be a problem for the 1 seed, right?
oregon must be so happy michigan beat us so they dont have to play us 3 times this year
Dan Lanning will have Oregon ready.
His culture doesn’t allow any other way…
Michigan's S.B. fatigued that day
This proves nothing. If this was last year, they won a bowl game. They couldn’t beat michigan, therefore Penn st. became the east rep against Oregon. The playoff is about second chances. College football needs to return its former self.
I didn’t see not one chip Kelly formation that whole game
Who's formation did you see ?
Not true. They did use some counter and QB lead to balance out the inside zone that is usually their only running play.
SOLUTION TO COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF CONUNDRUM
This is a college football playoff point system for a 16-game playoff format.
SEC- 3 POINTS per win, 0 points for out of power 5 conf. wins. (exception ND, UCONN, MASS, which are 1-point rated)
ACC- 3 POINTS per win, 0 points for out of power 5 conf.
No "off week" by playing lame duck team, like, for
Ex: Bama cannot play Mercer week 10 of season.
Ex: Bama played OU at OU late 2024 season. OU would've got 3 points, Bama would've got 0 points.
Teams with most points earn spot I 16-team playoff bracket.
Most point teams get 1st round bye.
Again, based on conference:
Conference champion winner gets 3, 2 ,1 point respectively. Looser gets 2, 1, .5 points respectively.
Ex: Georgia beats Texas in SEC championship game.
Georgia gets 3 points, Texas gets 2 points
Ex: Clemson beat SMU in ACC championship game.
Clemson gets 3, SMU gets 2 points
Ex: Big 12 Championship
ASU beat ISU in Big 12 Championship.
ASU gets 2 points, ISU gets 1 point
AP rank assists in seating of playoff spots.
Michigan has 2 home field advantages ours and OSU the shoe does not affect us !!!!!!! And think about this OSU has to a rookie coach TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe....but who is in the playoffs? Didn't buckeyes just come off a almost 20 year run? I dunno, Tressel and urban had a pretty good run for what 2 decades?
Love the show Joel. But Day isn't the best at fixing things. He has lost that game the same way 3 times. Doesn't mean he isn't the guy, but I think you're glazing a little bit.
Go Bucks! Beat Oregon!
Obviously, 12 playoff teams is 4 teams too many. Every First Round game was boring.
Ohio States all time record against the SEC is...3 wins...14 losses.....even a squirrel finds a nut sometimes...
Yeah, we found one in this comment
Too bad SEC is 0-4 in the Horseshoe all time, and the beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, so Ohio State has at least 5 wins vs the SEC without me having to even Google to remember
@@sethwellendorf9891 My favorite SEC win was 1988 LSU was up 33-20 with 4:29 left in the game but Ohio State and Chris Carter turned it on and the Buckeyes won 36-33. I was at the game hung over and using a free ticket. Almost left but just puked in a trash can and stuck it out. Good times.
Wow Ohio kicks Tennessee. Wow, Tennessee you are an SEC team and you didn’t play like one. Tennessee has lots more work. Ohio played a 12 team, and it showed. What’s the big deal? They were supposed to win.
Do we think Fox employees and talking heads take some amusement or joy from the Big10 beating the SEC because we all know SECPN loves them some SEC.
Ryan didnt fix his kicker! Lol Horribad! If they play like that every game all they need is an extra point kicker.
It was against Tennessee... Eh okay. Play Texas or Oregon like that then I'll be right there with you.
Just a question, were you thinking Tennessee was all that before the game or not? I definitely think they’re still a good team that got absolutely rattled and beat by a team that nearly played to their ceiling as a whole unit
Tennessee made Ohio look

Tennessee fans talk alot for a team who hasn't won anything since they had a guy by the name of Peyton Manning play for them back in the 90's.
Awful argument Joel. Not up to your standards. We don’t tune in to watch fan energy and college football fun. We watch because we want to see the best teams play games where there’s at least reason to watch the 4th quarter.
