This episode continues with the discussion on the nature of God. Most religions describe man's relationship with god as parental. The gods and goddesses of the Hindu Bhakti tradition carry the suffixes 'appan' meaning father and 'amma' meaning mother. A filial relationship ought to be one of closeness and belonging. However, the Bhakti mode emphasizes difference and distance - while god the father is addressed as the Pure and Perfect One the bhakta or the devotee calls himself or herself as a lowly person, not as the confident child of the Supreme Father and the Inheritor of His bequest.
Sloka 9 Chapter 8(8;9) Sloka 5 Chapter 9 (5;9) Sloka 21 Chapter 8(8;21) describe God's attributes, His role in creation and His home respectively.This knowledge is the correct basis for understanding and relating with God.
God can be perceived and His gifts received only when our minds are pure, that is,they should be deserving of Him. Prevailing practices are too far removed, as pointed in detail in this exposition, for the true experience of God, as they are based on fear and ignorance.
