    Great stuff, as usual, Paul! I love watching these as they're solid reinforcement to the much deeper dive you take us on in the VO Freedom course. Thankful to call you a colleague and a friend!

    If you want to get a gig, you mainly need to have talent. That means sound 100% real while you're saying somebody else's crap.

    • @vo-pro

      First, it’s not someone else’s crap. It’s import to them and we can never lose sight of that. Second, talent is just a part of success. Some with less talent is booking way more work than you right now.

    Oh, the irony, of wanting to thank someone on social media, for suggesting, on social media, to not spend too much time on social media.

    I'm using a CRM which is really helping me to keep track of prospects and reminding me to reach out... but damn if I don't have that spread sheet too with little notes you talked about. Jeesh. You hit the nail on the head once again, Paul.

    • @vo-pro
      @vo-pro  2 года назад +2

      Thanks, Tom. Consolidating take a little time upfront but will save you loads of time later. Having one place for all your client relationship info is way more efficient.

      @@vo-pro Well, I originally started doing it that way because I felt like putting every lead that I emailed, and I'm trying to do at least 20 per day, into my CRM seem like an awful lot. My thought was to add them into my CRM only after they become prospects. There's so much to learn!

    • @vo-pro
      @vo-pro  2 года назад +2

      @@tomconklinvo Here’s the issue with that: if you email 20 prospects today, no one will hire you today, so no one gets into your CRM today. Furthermore, you should be logging all your communications with everyone so that WHEN they reach out, you have one place to go to see a record of that communication over time.

    • @tomconklinvo
      @tomconklinvo 2 года назад

      @@vo-pro That makes sense. I guess the sheer numbers befuddle me. If I add 100 leads per week to my CRM... That's more than 5,000 in a year. Maybe I'm looking at it in the wrong way. But hey... that's what your marketing program is for. I respect your time, so I'll look into that. Thanks again!

    Hey Paul, great video. I was checking out the Freedom Master Plan on your website as I am looking to take voice over from a hobby to a sustainable career and am planning to apply. I can relate to many of the issues in this video as marketing is one of my biggest issues. Thanks for the helpful content!

    Really great information as always Paul. Is marketing glamorous? No. Is auditioning 100 times and not getting booked? No. Many creatives think that their work will do the heavy lifting for them. As soon as someone hears them perform they will reach out and book them. That would be nice but it aint gonna happen 99 times out of a hundred. What you laid out in the video is actionable information that can help grow your VO BUSINESS. And don't ever think that this is not a business.

    • @vo-pro
      @vo-pro  2 года назад

      I agree auditioning is important. But when you’re developing it’s less important than growing your own relationships. Thanks for the insight, my friend.

    Consistency is truly the key, if you ask me.
    On that note, having a concise but to the point message when reaching out to prospects is important as well.

    • @vo-pro
      @vo-pro  2 года назад +1

      Thanks, Eric. Any tactic needs to be executed well, but the vast majority don't execute consistently and that's why they don't succeed.

    • @EagleEric_VA

      @@vo-pro Absolutely!
      On that note, to further specify what I meant by a short and concise message.
      Is that I find it best to not send a prospect an avalanche of text with dozens of paragraphs.
      Doing that, if you ask me, shows that we don't respect their time, and they can find all of this information, and more, on our websites, as they see fit.
      Simply capturing their attention, and keeping your concise message interesting enough for them to want to reach out, that's the key, if you ask me.
