Going Full-Time in Voice Over? 10 CRUCIAL Mindset Shifts!
Alright, let’s talk about the mental game of going full-time as a freelancer. I’m talking about the shifts that take you from “Hey, I’m doing this voiceover thing on the side” to “This is what I do. Period.”
The mindset stuff is just as gritty and real as all the tangible things you’re already doing to make the work happen. But the mental side is where you’ll make or break yourself long-term.
Let’s walk through the shifts that get you from being part-time to owning this path full-time and for good.

    Thank you for the real talk on marketing. I haaaaate marketing and ads and wish it all would go away, in general. 100%. I know it makes this world go 'round. I need an attitude adjustment and what you said gives me something to think about. I'm not totally sold (because the annoyance is real, guys) but I'll work on it...and if someone here can @ me with resources that help me change my tune about how I view marketing/ads/sales, I'd appreciate it.

      Bonnie, all due respect, it’s not complicated. If a business wants customers, it has to market. It’s as essential as fuel to an engine. If you’ve ever collected a paycheck, SOMEONE marketed your company and sold the products or services to bring the customers in to fund your paycheck. To be annoyed with sales and marketing is to invalidate the very function that puts food on EVERYONE’S table. It is important work. Crucial.

Online resources are great, but face to face conversations, shared moments - learning & laughter during the keynote or in a conference room with J. Not even close. If an artist publishes a cover song, the composer gets paid. You want the benefits of a professional actor without paying for it. But AI doesn’t give you that because there’s a chasmic difference between a voice and a performance.

    I see your "FU AI" pillow and was wondering what your predictions are for Voice Over acting in the future? People keep telling me that AI will take my job if I pursue this. I worked in Radio for years and vividly remember people telling me "radio is dead". Meanwhile I had a 10 year career in that field. I didn't make much but I still found jobs!

    • @vo-pro
      @vo-pro Месяц назад

      I knew 25 years ago radio would be gutted because they failed to get really really good at listening to the audience and to embrace the internet. Voice actors who don’t get really, really good at acting and don’t embrace AI to make it work for them will be gutted. Your choice.

    • @vo-pro

      @@Shannon_Robbie Two separate questions. First AI won't "take your job" if you're really well trained. Secondly, you get AI to work for you by getting a very good voice model made with contract that protects you and gives you control, consent, and fair compensation.

    _// Thanks for sharing the video! Let me tell you something important: God loves you! God loves us ! He is no respecter of persons! because God wants us all to be saved! and let's go to the knowledge of the “Truth” God wants to save us from eternal damnation, which we all deserve because of sin, who entered the world through Adam, and death entered through sin, and thus death passed to all human beings, Therefore, we are all “Sinners” But God's Love was so great for us, that he sent his only Son (Jesus Christ), gave him to this world, to die and rise for all of us! No Respect of Persons! so that everyone who believes in Jesus Christ does not go to eternal punishment, but rather has “Eternal Life!” “ Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures; and he was buried, and rose again on the third day, according to the Scriptures Jesus Christ came to call sinners to “Repentance! “ and, he who believes in Him, has “Eternal Life! “But whoever refuses to believe in Jesus Christ, the wrath of God remains on him. Then, as through Adam's transgression, condemnation came to all human beings, in the same way, through the justice of Jesus Christ, justification of life came to all human beings! All of us who believe in The Only Savior of the world! The Only Mediator between God and us! The Lord Jesus Christ! The son of God! All of us who trust in Him; we have “Eternal Life! “ And we must know that there is salvation in no one else; because there is no other name under heaven, given to human beings, in which we can be saved. Only by Believing/Trusting in “Jesus Christ” can we be Saved! But Jesus Christ also said: Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Therefore, we must be doers of the Word of God! and not only listeners and/or readers, deceiving ourselves. So let's read the Word of God! There is His Will! what God wants us to do! Let us read mainly the Gospels; Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and let us pray to God, our Heavenly Father, all the days of the life that He gave us! God loves you! God loves us! To Him alone be the Glory Forever! Amen! Bible Source: Acts 10:34-35 / 1 Timothy 2:3-6 / Romans 5:12 / John 3:16 / 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 / Luke 5:32 / John 3:36 / Romans 5:18 / John 6:47 / Acts 4:12 / Matthew 7:21 / James 1:22 /|]l

      @@innercynic2784 lean times always thins the herd. I work in film and television for the last 46 years and the most recent strikes in Hollywood, backed right up to the pandemic sent even a lot of veteran’s packing. Our union International Cinematographers Guild Local 600 of course honored the strikes and then our IATSE contracts were up for contract negotiations in July and of course no producer in their right mind wanted to chance starting a show and then get whacked with another strike. We lost a lot of good talented members.

    Its like that weird old guy Epictetus could see through a magic crystal ball to paint out my life so vividly by the numbers. All from 2000 years ago.
