    There's some yo-yo in this thread claiming that it's a man posing as Sonja on this track. That's complete rubbish. The bass player is my best and oldest friend Mike Wedgwood, who well remembers this session for German TV. I know Sonja well and she's a lovely lass with a pure voice. The line-up on the album is Sonja, Mike, Darryl Way, Frank Monkman and Florian Pilkington-Miksa. By the way, it was Flo's 69th birthday on the 3rd June. Mike also plays bass and keys on both of my daughter's beautiful albums. See "On my Own" and "Keeping on" by Isobel Thatcher. A man, indeed.

    PHANTASMAGORIA IS A STORE IN MONTREAL

  • @13towerofpower
    @13towerofpower 9 лет назад +1

    PHANTASMAGORIA titulná pieseň tretieho albumu progresivne rockovej skupiny CURVED AIR, ktorý bol v UK rebríčku päť týždňov od 13. mája 1972 a skončil na 20.m. ako v poradi tretí album skupiny v TOP 20 a posledný úspešný album. Autorom skladby bol Francis Monkman nar. 9. júna 1949 v Hampsteade v severnom Londýne, ktorý s Darrylom Wayom v roku 1968 vytvoril súbor Sisyphos, ktorýv roku 1970 premenoval na Curved Air podľa slov z názvu albumu A Rainbow In Curved Air z roku 1969 od obľubeného amerického skladateľa Terryho Rileyho nar. 24. júna 1935 v Colfaxe v Californii, priekopníka minimalistickej hudby v ktorého kompozícii In C Monkman hral počas koncertu v Londýne. Názov skladby a albumu bol prevzatý z názvu básne Phantasmagoria britského básnika Lewisa Carrolla vl.m. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (1832-1898), ktorý bol autorom aj románu Alenka v riši snov.Záznam bol z vystupenia skupiny v TV Show Spotlight z 22. oktobra 1972, pričom moderátor mal problém správne vysloviť názov skupiny.Na albume sa prejavili spory medzi dvomi zakladajúcimi členmi o hudobné smerovanie skupiny.Zodpovedá tomu aj členenie skladieb.Na prvej strane sú skladby Waya a na druhej Monkmana, pričom pri ich nahrávaní nespolupracovali.V zostave popri Sonji Kristine Linwood spev bol névý basový gitarista Mike Wedgwood nar. 19. mája 1950 v Derby, ktorý v rokoch 1968 -1971 hral v skupine Overlanders preslávenej cover verziou piesne Beatles Michelle, ktorý potom hral v skupine Arthur´s Mother. Po odchode z Curved Air bol členom sprievodnej skupiny Kiki Dee a neskôr v skupine Caravan. Na bicie hral pôvodný člen skupiny Florian Pilkington-Miksa, ktorý ako jediný hrá s Kristinou v súčasnosti ako jediný z pôvodnej zostavy. Dokonca bol členom aj skupiny Sisyphos v ktorej boli ešte Nick Simon klavír a Rob Martin basová v gitara, v dome ktorého pod názvom Curved Air už s Kristinou namiesto Simona skúšali reperoar skupiny v ktorom boli aj skladby pôvodnej skupiny Sisyphus.

    The negative picture certainly doesn't help, but I can tell you this much:
    The Aircut lineup didn't convene until early '73. I saw this same lineup live a few months earlier.
    Definitely Florian, not Jim Russell. You can tell by a) the hair, b) the orthodox grip and the older Ludwig logo.
    Definitely Darryl, not Eddie who had long straight hair.
    We never see the keyboard player's face, but the fact that the organ has tabs (so is a Hammond L or T series) means that it is not Jobson, who had a C3.

    Sounds great. Mike Wedgewood on bass I believe, is this the era of young Stu Copeland (drums) as well ?? Thanks for the awesome posting!

      That was Florian Pilkington-Miksa founding drummer, Stewart Copeland mentioned the late Florian Pilkington-Miksa as his landlord and mentor in the 70s, Florian encouraged Stewart to drum and taught him the techniques he later made famous. Florian was drummer for Kiki Dee after Curved Air, brilliant drummer.
