  • Curved Air are an English progressive rock group formed in 1970 by musicians from mixed artistic backgrounds, including classical, folk, and electronic sound. The resulting sound of the band was a mixture of progressive rock, folk rock, and fusion with classical elements. Along with High Tide and East of Eden, Curved Air were one of the first rock bands after It's a Beautiful Day, The Flock and the United States of America to feature a violin. Curved Air released eight studio albums, the first three of which broke the UK Top 20, and had a hit single with "Back Street Luv" (1971) which reached number 4 in the UK Singles Chart.

Chills. Genius composition. The rather aggressive, cold vocal opening just makes the pastoral violin melody progression that much more sublime.

I totally feel that. I was lucky to be there when my local FM station played Marie Antoinette on the Phantasmagoria album in '72. In a sense, it was recommended to 'me' by forces beyond my control, too. For you, the algorithm of the RUclips edifice; for me, probably one dude who said 'this is growing on me, freaking me out even, it's pretty damn good' or something, as it happened. It rankles me when I hear there wasn't any good music in the '70s. RiDICulous.

Hi, I replied a month ago to your comment obviously, but I only asked your age because I’m 21 this year and like you obsessed with Curved Air, in fact I’ve both seen them live and talked to Sonja Kristina online (She’s a very nice woman) I’m sorry if asking your age sounded weird (if it did) I just feel relieved knowing I’m not the only 21st Century born Curved Air nut and would love to discuss with other young fans, particularly across the pond (I live in Yorkshire, England) Sonja actually wants to carry on the band for at least another decade when she’ll be in her 80s!!!, Hopefully you’ll be able to see them in that time.
