great job
You have to go to Ghana one day. Cudjoe is a Ghanaian name.
Wear a hat next time to keep the sun off.
Rocheline next time you are in the states you have to get a DNA kit to see your admixture. Most Jamaicans are a mixture of Congolese and others.
Good morning Rochielin. What happened to the video uploaded yesterday? I'm almost sure I watched it...was I dreaming?....i know I was asleep but...i think I woke up and saw the upload with little Princess...what a dream. This no be joke ohhh. Hey!!!. Tufiakwa!!! What kin sleep be this one... a whole me...dreaming.. heyyyy!!! Ah Ah. How come???
THIS warms my heart to see my fellow countyman share their side of their culture. I hope this side of the country won't be sold off to foreigners like so many parts of the island. It's amazingly informative and it would so much more educational to keep learning more about the island's people. Just brilliant
That Andrew wa do but Currie a stand up so him a get backlash and fight. This land is very rich
Stuff to your family
Very informative. Can Chief Curry think of producing turmeric, ginger, and most of what’s being grown for export.....turmeric is widely sought after and is pretty expensive. That would generate revenue to build the infrastructure of Maroon Town. Love your channel Rochielin, and admire you as a young lady making great strides. God bless you🙏🏽
I would second what you have written. 👏🏾👏🏾
it only right chief CURRY produce TURMERIC!! 👨🏿🍳😂😂
Rochelle u are so intelligent n smart I enjoy watching u
I would love to live there the place is so beautiful,Cheif Curry big up yourself.
GOOD IDEA
Rochelin, the community looks so well cared for. Wonderful interview.
This is a very good expose... big up the camera person they have been walking backwards on VERY challenging terrain!!
I've learned more about the maroon in this one video than I was taught throughout school.
Living in the USA made me appreciate the maroon people more than ever,I met nanny in my dreams a few times and seeing the legacy she left behind,am in awe of her
I would love to dream the great Granny Nanny.
Please stop calling them maroon answer this what were they call before the slaves Master say they run away and maroon in the hills that is what the word maroon mean
@@keithmaxwell6941 but that is what they call themselves, the chief himself says they are maroons but you made an interesting point. They shouldn't.
Outstanding documentary! Breath taking interview! Blessings to all maroons in the entire world!
Well done Rochielin! 🇯🇲 🇨🇦
You and Mr Curry make a great combination. Carryon Rochielin
Great reporting!!:)
Next group to interview would be "Germans of Germantown " in Westmoreland
This was such a pleasure to watch. I remember when I was a little girl my great grandma told me I am a Maroon and I should be proud and never forget. No one in my family talks about it nor have any knowledge. But I am going to change that. I have decided to learn my roots and pass it on to my daughter even though I love in the states and my child is American, I will make this one of my life goals. Thank you for this and I wish Chief Curry much success.
Thank you for this tour. That's a part of Jamaica that we hear about but never visited. Living in the US has mase me appreciate JA more.
Happy you enjoyed it!
Rochielin, I am immencely satisfied watching this video. I left Jamaica over three decades ago so it's good to be learning so much about my homeland. Chief Currie you are an inspiration. So well spoken as well. Blessings to you all.
Same Yardie. I haven't been back in decades, since leaving as a child. I learn so much from this channel.
Please do not sell your Land next thing the Chinese will want to take it over, Please Chief don't sell your Land
Yes please tell him.becouse they well
I absolutely agree! They are only out for self here in America 🇺🇸 it’s sad
🤕🤕🤕🤕🤣
I am simply amazed at how well kept the town is and so breath taking, wow!!!! Why all of Jamaica couldn't be so clean, organized and well kept? Smh I really which all of Jamaica was like this! I would definitely live there, the fresh air & the lusciousness 😍 Omg. Anyhow this is & always has been on my bucket list & will definitely try harder to make it happen. Wonderful video & interview 👏🏾 Very much informative 👍🏾
Love hearing about the Maroons and seeing how they live and operate 👍💯🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
I do enjoyed the video but you also made me laughed a lot through it you are a very funny person please keep up what you are doing
I’m happy I was able to make you laugh. Thanks for watching!
Rochelin why I think you and chief Curry would be a beautiful combination! 😉😉
This was so beautiful to watch, the area is so lovely. Hope to see there in person one of these days. Thank you for showcasing the maroons
Thanks Rochielin and Chief Currie. I love learning bout my Jamaica history. Many of us have Maroon blood even if we were not born in any of the Maroon town. My mom talk about powerful ancestors from there and that there are light skin maroons.
I remember the first person who moved into my community from Maroon town. They were beautiful and black as midnight. We were so excited to have them and could not wait to make friends with them. We really wanted to know if they could really cook without fire.
I love the Maroon history and proud of what the ones in Jamaica accomplished.
Great
Great comment. There are Maroons in the hills of Clarendon, hills of St Ann, hills of Manchester, hills of Trelawny & hills of St James.(Cockpit country is 6 parishes) Cudjoe first lived on Beckford Plantation in Bull Head mountain area Clarendon. He started the revolt, plantation burned to the ground, Some of the enslved Africans fled down with him into Manchester and St Elizabeth. Some went into the foothills of the Bull Head mountain where I'm from. Accompong was Cudjoes brother. Village named after him. There's a statue of Cudjoe in Chapelton Town square, Clarendon..
There is African blood, not moroon. They were called maroons because of their combative behavior, not because of ethnicity
Need part 3 right now,sml love the energy and the vibe with the nature, and the Maroon Boss
Coming up soon!!!
Loving this series so much good knowledge thank you. I would like to see you do a live discussion after the series completed and have the chief join in on the live for a QA. I also think you should Study journalism you are such a natural. You make your guess feels comfortable and open up to you. Thank you 🙏🏾

Rochielin, this was some very interesting info, I enjoy this video, thanks for sharing, and bringing us along, 👍💯💕.
You are most welcome love. Thanks for watching!
I let the commercials play on this channel because I want to make sure to support Rochielin. Here's why; She is doing far more to help the people as one individual than any po-lie-tician I ever will.
This is the way to go rather than voting people into offices and tying up their hands with political ropes and enticing them with power and money. This young lady is ambassador of love and kindness and is truly out to see everyone thrive no matter their location. Thank you Rochielin for doing things Yah's way!
They need to apologise to Jamaica for their assistance to the slave masters during slavery of selling runaway slaves back to the oppresors

Roch.Good day to you.Congratulations on teaching us sbout the Maroons.Chief Richard is an asset to his people. It great to see you both harmonising so well.I live in the UK and hope that if health permits to return home in the not too distant future.I have always had a fascination in learning more about theMsroons and their culture and would like to visit one day.I do hope and pray that Richard and hisvpeople will be able to keep their culture alive for the benefit of all our people.I am eagerly awaiting your next installation. By the way Roch.are you secretly flirting with the Chief.(smile) Well done on another superb video.
Well he is an attractive man. I am sure she is quite impressed and spending that much time conversing with him, I can’t imagine she wouldn’t be subconsciously flirting but at the same time maintaining an air of professionalism😂😂😂
I thoroughly enjoyed this video ❤️I thought you guys were a couple before I clicked on too watch😁 said to myself that’s a good looking couple 😁

Happy you enjoyed it!
Big thanks to Rochielin and Maroon Chief Richard Curry.
Thanks for watching 😁😁😁
Wow beautiful am from St Thomas and my father is from the Bongo Maroon but I live in the west I love my culture 👍
As related to me, by my father, I am a descendant of the Accompong maroons. Although I grew up in a village neighbouring one of the enclaves inhabited by the Windward Maroons and have a keen interest in the history and culture of the population the COVID-19 pandemic deprived me of what would have been my first visit to Accompong in 2021.
I found the walk through and interview quite revealing and to some extent informative. However the camera person while doing a good job could have earned an "excellent" rating if he/she had focused the camera on the points of interest mentioned by the Colonel during the exchange eg:- the "typical house" and the one that was said to include rooms for hotel accommodation. Another was the 450 years old T'ree. Although shown in an insert, it was not highlighted even when the narrator sat beneath it to enjoy her water coconut. The focus, instead, was devoted to the signage describing the location.
My second area of disappointment was the Colonel's presentation so far. Sovereignty presupposes at least a measure of selfsufficiency. But while mention was made of contributions from the state (and its insufficiency) and Food For The Poor no clear indication was forthcoming as to "autonomizing" the economy within his domain.
Nevertheless you are to be commended for the exposure you have been giving to features of national importance that would otherwise be hidden from the Jamaican public and the world at large.
Thank you for your insightful coverage. Congratulations to Colonel Currie on his ascension to the throne and the youthful vigour that has accompanied him.
You are too critical
@@daphldavy2252 You obviously are among the echoes of our society. You haven't a clue as to the gist nor purpose of my expressions. Insularity and mediocrity ah guh kill summa oonu 😂
would love to get land there so my son will always see Jamaica in its original form..
When Jamaica becomes a Republic, the Treaty will become null and void. Another arrangement and agreement may be needed to maintain the Maroons' historic significance. However, they will no longer need protection from Monarch.
Have you been sleeping for the last 60 years? The Treaty became Null and Void in 1962 when Jamaica became independent of the British Colony . Being a Republic changes nothing apart from the GG will no longer exist . The British Queen has no power anywhere in this world . Not even in England . She is not allowed to enter the British Parliament . So all you people need to stop living in the pass . From in the 1700 Cayman islands was governed by the Jamaican GG until 1958 when it was separated from Jamaica in preparation for 1962 Constitution to be enforced . If the Maroons were to be independent of Jamaica , it would have been written in the Constitution which it wasn't . These people are living in the pass . Every Jamaican became a Maroon in 1838 . They called it Emancipation when every Negroe became as free as the Maroons . They had a Century head start over other Black Jamaican and in this Video Currie could tell you what the community laws are . They still making up the story as they go along after over 250 years of freedom .
This is an excellent interview very educational
There are also Maroons in the hills of Clarendon, hills of St Ann, hills of Manchester, hills of Trelawny & hills of St James.(Cockpit country is 6 parishes) Cudjoe first lived on Beckford Plantation in Bull Head mountain area Clarendon. He started the revolt, plantation burned to the ground. Some of the enslved Africans fled down with him into Manchester and St Elizabeth. Some went up into St Ann, Trelawny & St James. Some went down into the foothills of the Bull Head mountain where I'm from. Accompong was Cudjoe's brother. (Accompong village named after him). There's a statue of Cudjoe in Chapelton Town square, Clarendon. My paternal grandma was a Beckford she had ancestors from Ghana that lived on the Beckford Plantation in Bull Head. (Common surname in the area)
Some very interesting stories. Thanks for sharing these valuable information. I have learnt so much about Accompong and the maroons.
I’m happy you’ve learnt from the videos . Thanks for watching love 😁
Epic piece of history. This story cannot be erased as based on precedent the Maroons are the recognized first freedom occupants. To the Jamaican Government take careful note that not even the mighty Germany are able to financially compensate for their atrocities.
I love this gentleman Chief Richard Currie, I have been following him from they did a segment about him and his college degrees, I would love to go and visit them. I feel I am so much a part of them. I am seeing Jamaican Blackness, The rest of Jamaica feels like America too much. They are not treated well at all. They are the Real Black People of Jamaica. Yes I am Jamaica but I have so much different Blood in me I am not sure who I am. Dem ya a me People .
I am lving in the U S and would love to meet with Mr Curry , I am not a Jamaican .
ITS A LOVELY PLACE. MY NEXT TRIP YO JAMAICA I WANT TO VISIT THERE AND GET A TOUR.
Thanks Roch I’m from Moore Town. Just across the river from Nanny’s grave. Love it 🥰 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️
Such a lovely video and I love your style of presenting. Helped me to connect with my ancestors all the way from London, UK. Thank you 😊
Rochielin…. This is great!!!! Keep up your good work ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank youuuu😁😁😁 thanks for watching 😁😁😁
Thank you for this interview it’s awesome.
Informative. Great questions. Great answers. Continue to keep it real Chief Currie. Stand tall. Stand proud. Keep the Maroon culture intact.
Words are in short supply to xpress my thoughts, but all I can say 'FANSTASTIC & INFORMATIVE' which fits in with my studies on the History of Jamaica during my school days back then & I am hoping the blessings & purity of the Maroon towns & their History & will be vigorously protected. Its a legacy we cannot afford to lose or destroy. 'Long Live the History of & the Maroons'.
That's my town I have my own house 🏠 they too, even tho I live in New Kingston. Going back is always exciting to me. I also do airbnb.
She told me of a time when the slave master found there camp site and everyone had to move out, days before the invasion and they were waiting for the army to arrive but nanny said she decided to check the camp one last time and found a young boy about 8 or 9 years old,and they couldn't take the child with them and they couldn't leave him behind and risk the boy been captured so she had to kill the boy,and it was the most painful decision she had to make
Wow this was extremely informative💯✅thank you
Great video the interview was classic as you allows the chief to just naturally flows in the conversation. It was quite interesting - good job
How does pregnant women get cared for. Do they have prenatal clinics and what about the new born. Do they have clinics for them
This is amazing. Thank you so much for doing this video. I really enjoyed it. I've head that I have Maroon Ancestry (via Manchester) so this video makes me want to delve deeper to figure it out. It's all oral history right now.
Enjoyed this episode can’t wait for part 3
Coming right up!!!😁😁
This video is simple smooth and sweet and very informative and educational
