I came here cause you mentioned it on Scotts acoustic version of creep..I've never heard this version..thanks..My take on it is its pretty good and Chester is good..but its very hard to get Scotts out of my head ...that's with most originals ..but I enjoyed this version for what it is..Thanks fellow STP and Scott fan..👊

God, Scott...such an amazing singer. I can't help buy wonder how it could have turned out if he had never used...obviously he was good before heroin, so we can't say drugs' influence made him into the artist he was, but still...the self-immolation suffering artists go through is part of what draws people as if we suffer vicariously through listening to and identifying with the "narrator" of the song.
You are and will continue to be missed, Scott. I hope his k8ds turned out okay.
Chester is a great singer. Sure most of the Time the orginal artist's Version is the best. But Chester did a great job and gave the Band a new perspective.

@@ichheidochso2720 It was definitely a hit in America ir was a single off that album and also got some extra recognition because it was on the soundtrack for the movie The Crow which was a popular movie with a popular soundtrack at a time (in America at least) when movie soundtracks were very popular. However, I don't think it was/is as big as a few of their other songs. I'm not sure official numbers but it definitely seems like there were 3-4 songs that were bigger hits and get much more airtime still today which personally i don't get, I think it's their best song
You are correct...this isn't even close to Scott's performances. You gotta listen to the Purple Super Deluxe Edition. On there you will find an acoustic version of Big Empty, if you ask me, it's the best version out there.
Big Empty was actually a replacement for Only Dying, which the band originally considered for the Crow soundtrack. But since the main actor died due to a gun accident on set, they figured Only Dying wasn't the best choice for a song title on the Soundtrack.
One of my favorite Stone Temple Pilots songs! Chester I love your voice man. I have so much respect for you, I mean lead singer off 3 bands and your going strong till this day! I've seen you live 2 times once with Dead by sunrise in Amsterdam and last November in the ziggo dome with The best band in my world Linkin Park. Fucking awesome!

I know there's a lot of differing opinions with Chester becoming the new front man for STP, but to those who slander him because of some outdated loyalty to Scott, its time to "Let it Go"..to quote some LP lyrics. It isn't doing STP or Weiland any good, nor is it fair to Chazzy. Take the few mins necessary to actually LISTEN to how well he performs these songs, out of a desire to do them justice, BECAUSE he has a love for them. He was already a fan of their work, not just somebody they randomly auditioned who had no clue about their music. He is truly one of the hardest working frontmen in the music business today. He is tourning with TWO bands, still frontman for DBS, still working to contribute to the charitable origanizations & relief funds he helped to create and/or support. And even though lately he'd been forced to take time off after his surgery from his badly broken ankle(which might I add he never left the stage because of until the entire concert had finished, now if THAT'S not dedication I don't know what is & he will give no less of himself to STP)....he's making ready to jump back into touring(bad choice of words perhaps) through all of April with STP and then from May til September with LP. The Brothers & Kretz made the decision to keep the band going with a new face, lots of bands do & personally for them they made the logical choice. They'd worked with Chester before...they knew his level of talent & dedication and of his appreciation for their music, he knew the songs well & had the ability to partner his song writing talents together with theirs to create some entirely new pieces. He KNOWS he isn't Scott, nor is he trying to be...he's simply Chester trying to give the bandmates what they asked of him, his time & talent. Weiland has a new band all his own & has begun touring(so perhaps it can be assumed he has put his demons to rest; maybe even for good this time as one can only hope) and moved on as well. I hope Chester continues to lend his golden voice to the band for as long as they continue to play. Just my thoughts after listening to these mixes from the Arizona set, watching the concerts & listening to the EP High Rise.

Frank Lopez Stop pulling shit out of your ass. Robert wrote the majority of STP's songs. Apart from that he is one of the main founders of the band. He has a say in whether he wants to keep HIS band name or not. Just because Weiland fucked his bandmates over and everyone else doesn't mean that he'll drive them into his "shit in a stick".
EveofIsis I didn't liked at first and it wasn't due to some loyalty bullshit, it was just that i liked Scott most, his style his damn voice, and to the contrary I do not liked Chester insted for me he didsn't fit. but after listen this Arizona session I must recognize he just earn his place, his now polished and sounds smooth.
I appreciate your honest thoughts here. Don't get me wrong. I loved STP with Scott's vocals. It was what got me listening to them when they were first on the music scene in Seattle & California years ago. I just know due to Chester's respect for the band he listened to for so long, that he has worked hard to lend his vocals and yes I agree...the Arizona sessions have definitely shown that work paying off.

Well , I'm a Chaz admirer and LP is one of my all time favourite bands,I respect him as a vocalist but I miss Scott's snarly and raspy voice colour that would make songs like this unique.Scott's performing style and distinct vocal accent along the 90's made him an irreplaceable frontman for the band.Chester is magnificent but just ain't fit.

I grew up listening to STP.... But hearing this song without Scott Weiland....... Nah
yup. STP was like one of my favorite bands back when I was in high school, in 96 they played their cover of Dancing Days on the radio a lot. I remember getting into Zeppelin after that, but one fun part is hearing the LZ influence on STP.
It's a good tribute, but Scott had a powerful voice and really nobody sings it like him. Some people you cannot replace, like Layne Stayle.

There is nothing super special about STP in 90's, same about Alice In Chains etc.
