I started making candles years ago, I recommend a kit from bramble berry. I started with them and they will not do you wrong. If anyone is wondering what the white stuff on the candles it’s called frosting. Kind of cute ☺️ To try to prevent it you can, mix the wax slower, pour at a lower temp, heat the jars up before pouring, and placing the candles on wire cooling racks. Frosting will not affect the candle though it’s just cosmetic. The lazy easy way that I use is using a heat gun on the tops if I’m giving away the candles.

Yeah, of all the ways to live cruelty-free, consuming soy products isn't high on my list. Same with agave, quinoa, palm oil, and other such health-nut foods/products that entitled rich people in 1st-world countries can't get enough of. A tad more research to find locally-sourced products is a better way to go than just following vegan trends online.

@@hauntedshadowslegacy2826 And if you would be really educated on this topic you would know that nearly ALL of the soy planted on the rainforest area is for feeding animals. Usually soy that gets consumed or made into wax isn't from there, because the "rainforest soy" is so highly genetically manipulated that it is actually restricted from eating in a lot of countries. So please educate yourself on this before making false statements and trying to prove others wrong with lies.

Chloe if you heat the pokey tool, you can push it through the rose candles and insert a wick, feeding it from the bottom up through to the top. If the wick seems a little loose at the bottom reheat the pokey tool and touch the wax around the metal plate of the wick to help set the plate into the wax. You just forgot the steps because you were filming, the micha is probably not the best color agent for making candles, usually the pigments are actually small chips of wax with really high amounts of color already added. On your multi color candles, it would be cool to add lavender to the purple color wax and eucalyptus to the green.

You can probably remelt the ones you don't like, like the broken rose, and try pouring them again.
Re: the ones that go white at the tops, my first thought is that your mica pigment is particulate rather than liquid, and while the wax is still liquid the particles slowly migrate downward because gravity is a thing. So by the time the wax hardens, there's more mica pigment lower down and less up on the top.

So much going on in this video! I kept saying to the screen put the wick in! You can always re-melt the wax and try again! I am just not sure about the mica powders, they did not look like they were working with the soy wax. I hope you try again even if you don’t film it maybe you can post some results on Instagram? OR you can do another video showing your viewers how much you have learned? I hope you had as much fun creating this video as we did watching it! Please take care and be safe, we are rooting for you!

This was a fantastic video! Now you have tried candle making you should really try painting with wax. That is what I do on my tiny RUclips channel and it's so much fun. Also I have been wanting to try out those pigments to make my own wax paints but was not sure of a safe brand. I will probably get the ones you used because also a great range of colours. Thanks.

Liquid pigments would probably work better. The powders will settle to the bottom. I've used just normal food dye and they've worked fine.

I used to do that back when I burned a lot of candles. I bought a pot at the thrift store and melted the candle stumps and made new candles. I did not have a wick holder I used a fork. Unfortunately I have MCS and we lived with pets so candle burning does not happen as often anymore. Yeah you needed to give them more time too cool an hour or two is not enough.

Hey Chloe. I love that you are getting into bath and body works stuff. If you decide to make more candles or soap please find a verified and reputable source for mica powders and other ingredients. While amazon listings say it's body safe we don't really know since they're just sold in mass.

Every time you picked up the jug of melted wax, in my head I was saying 'Wick Chloe, add a wick' or 'Fragrance Chloe put some fragrance in it.' But still, watching you make home made candles was cute. You are so vulnetable, and funny, and adorable. Everything you do is so cute and I love watching your videos.

This is such a cool kit! I've always wanted to try my hand at candle making but was too intimidated by it all and didn't know where to start. But this kit looks like a great option! If it isn't already, you should make the Amazon link an affiliate link cuz I'm definitely thinking about buying it!

Frosting is the white stuff that appears on waxes that contain soy wax. You can use a heat gun or blow dryer to re-melt the surface and give it a smoother finish. While you can lessen the effect of frosting, you can’t eliminate it completely.
so...it's just a byproduct that does happen.
