On today's episode of Wasted Characters in Warcraft, we bring you Vol'jin. Darkspear may never die, but the people that write them don't seem to know that.
vol'jin and varian had to die to start battle for azeroth. Both of these characters were too reasonable to start a war with each other. it sucks, they're both such legends but to continue the story with more drama it had to be done.
Actually, in the original version of Legoin Vol'jin did not die, but went "to meet with an old friend, who knows much more of the Legion than I do" (probably Rastakhan). In this version, Sylvanas attitude seemed much more in line with the Broken Shore scenario and Vol'jin's death cinematic, as well, according to a datamined conversation between her and the Warchief. When they decided to kill him, both him (*) and Jaina, coming to the Broken Isles as Azshara moved onto the forces of Horde and Alliance -weakened after fighting the Legion- with Zuldazar and Kul'tiras fleet, was going to be the pre-xpack event. When they changed the final act to Argus, though, they had to move all of that forward, and what should've been but a patch became a whole expansion... well, not the whole expansion, what's happening in 8.2 surely was already intended for this xpack. 8.0 and 8.1 is made up content to link both stories, which can easily be proved by Vol'jin's death cinematic being almost entirely retconned in 8.0/8.1, and besides the two little bits of Sylvanas with Helya and Graymane in 7.0 in Stormheim, that was the last piece of Horde development until BfA, and BfA immediately changed more than half of it. (*) resurrected, surely by Bwonsamdi after Rokhan took him to Zandalar, and that's why nobody showed at his fake funeral, which, btw, doesn't make sense because Trolls don't have orchish/shamanistic funeral burning their dead, but they mummify them in voodoo ceremonies, so what was burnt was probably intended to be a cleansing totem, so that the fel poisoning was taken away from his body.

Truly great video ! My first character was a troll and I always wondered about Sen'Jin and Vol'Jin. Thanks to you, i'm all good :) A thousand thanks ! Keep up the epic work
VOl'Jin is such a boss, he is one of my favourite characters in WoW and in my opinion the best candidate for Warchief. I am so mad that they killed him off after him only being warchief for one expansion and he did nothing at all in the one expansion. Plus he died like a bitch. He just gets poisoned and dies from a wound, not like Varians death which was epic as hell. SO gay.
I'm horde here, and Vol'jin is definitely in my top 3 characters, but to be completely honest Varian deserved that death way more than Vol'jin. I feel so bad for saying that, but think about it. Varian has been king of the alliance since like forever. He was an amazing warrior, and would do anything for his people. On the other hand we have Vol'jin. Vol'jin has better lore and was also a great warrior who would do anything for his people. But Vol'jin was only warchief of the horde for one expansion and had done no great feats for the good of his faction. Vol'jin definitely deserved a better death, but Varian deserved it more.
Never forget the day the Trolls, Orcs and, whatever was left of The Humans after getting overrun by said Orcs were fucking wrecked by a bunch of god damn Murlocs. With one of them being a magical talking one.
Dude you foking rock ! Thanks for entertaining me while I work and for helping me understand the history better. Stay cool and nerdy (not a bad thing) and keep them coming :)
Honestly, thank you so much. This game means so much to not only myself, but of course so many more. You really bring it to life, I watched your whole Reverse Lore Playlist, really magnificent. I will never forget your videos. I refer to you to every guildie I have in all servers. Hope You get enough credit where credit is due! Much love!
Also around 30:17 what does Thrall mean by the Wrath Gate and Undercity display that put Thrall out of control of horde. As well as 50:56, when they say Saurok were created, I don't think I've seen a video on them. If so let me know please!
All I want is when Sylvanas goes ape shit becomes the lich queen(let's be honest that's pretty much a given at this point with how Bolvar is starting to go evil) when she is about to gain ultimate victory we just hear "Darkspears Never Die" and Vol'jin puts an arrow right through her heart before taking her head clean off with one fluid strike returning to be Warcheif once more because let's face it only him and Bloodhoof actually give a shit about the people of the horde and what it stands for.
I like sylvanas, but that sounds like a good story line. I guess we shall see! Something has definitely gone wrong with Sylvanas. Not surprising, seeing what she's been through and become after all this time, but sad. Welp, I just hope we get an honorable warchief this next time. Vol'jin coming back would be prime!
Thanks for sharing your story telling abilities it helps me focus while i put it on the background while doing some digital paintings. I love your channel! :)
Vol'jin's somehow can always speak despite the situation. Submerged underwater and stabbed in the neck? He can still speak. Stabbed in the stomach, horn ripped off, being corrupted with Fel Energy? Can still speak. In the midst of battle fighting a huge Fel Monster? Just like any other day.
Nobbel, been following you for a long time. I just wanted to thank you for all the time and effort you've put into creating a great library of information. Have a great day man, you're awesome.

Don't need me. Legion: *Got stab.* I'm too old for this shit. Everything is your problem now Banshee Bitc.. I mean Sylvannas. RiP
i was just casually eating my dinner not paying attention towards the outro when i heard "looking forward to whats in store for voljin in legion" or along that sentiment, initated a chokefest of giggles
I honestly thought that the "Sea Witch" he described was Azshara due to Nazjatar and all that, until we saw that short little image of the "Sea Witch" and it ended up being some random character.
Hey Nobbel, how about doing a video on the Netherstorm eco domes and the lore behind it. Never really understood why or how they got there. No, this is not a troll.
So what?! He did a lot as Thrall's right hand, he did a lot for the trolls, Vol'jin protected the Darkspear and the Horde until the end. Like Cairne, Vol'jin is a founder of the horde, a hero
Now that Vol'jin is the warchief, could we possibly see a playable Shadow Hunter class in WoW? They could bring back thrown weapons! That would be cool The starting zone could be us going through the trials of the Loa, and they'd be a hero class since they are of such high authority, along with needing to be powerful hunters before their trials. The only problem I can see is that they may be too similar to the hunter class, since before they became Shadow Hunters they were pretty much just hunters that used thrown weapons. I hope we see them in-game sometime anyway!
1:09:44 Oh Nobbel, if only you knew… …Still fuckin’ pissed that they killed him off. They could’ve had it so he still got stabbed, but the death was slow and gradual. Until at the beginning of BFA, Vol’jin was on his deathbed, and yadda yadda, Sylvanas is warchief now.
Could you do a lore video on Cairne Bloodhoof and his son Baine? I suppose a single video would be more fitting since Baine's story sort of picks up right after Cairne's ends
Yep, Varian died like a hero, a king. Varian downed a World Boss solo, went to down several trash mobs and then got killed by a Raid boss in a huge explosion. Vol'jin.... get's stabbed by trash and dies like a bitch to poisoning.
LOL when varian walked up to voljin adnd puffed his chest out and voljin just like stodd up i almost spit out my drink XD "darkspear never die. . . you know. . . till they do. . . ."
Update on Vol'Jin: He dies like a punk and appoints Sylvannas, an obviously evil undead lich queen, as Warchief of the Horde. Possibly out of shallow fanservice or a hollow repeat of Garrosh Hellscream.
My main is Alliance but even I can't understand why Blizzard killed Vol'jin off so early. He didn't have much time as warchief. And I really liked his character despite him being a member of the Horde. I was looking forward to see how he would lead them. Instead, he was killed by a random unnamed demon...
Nobbel could You please do a story of Chen Stormstout! i always wandered who he was since the WC3 and since i haven't played WoW since the start of the cataclysm i do not know much about him. please :3
Its amazing how much Jania has helped the horde only to be screwed over again and again, i never knew she helped banes son regain power over the tauren.
Honestly, Vol'jin is the only character that both factions loved, taking him out was so shitty, if you're gonna kill off a beloved character then do it in a way that won't put the entire fanbase against you.
The worst part wasn't even dying immediately in Legion, it was that they made him look like an idiot for passing on the title of warchief to the only candidate arguably as bad as Garrosh just because of the "whispers of the spirits." And even more than that, it's that he was actually being duped and used by the(apparently anonymous to Vol'jin) spirit whispering(Mueh'zala). The loa aren't even considered infallible or trustworthy in the first place. They're often self-serving. At least if it had been Bwonsamdi it could have been played as Vol'jin being indebted and having trust due to being a longstanding supporter of his people, and then perhaps we could have seen that Bwonsamdi was forced to do it. Instead, Vol'jin just looks blind and stupid in a choice that could determine his people's fate. So not only did he suffer an inglorious death at the hands of Legion Mob Demon C, in his last moments he based his most important and worst decision on blind faith and tradition, despite being previously characterized as the main guy with both the wisdom and resolve to stand up to Thrall's decision of warchief. It's just the worst possible handling of a good character.
Hey nobble, good vid. Like to hear your thoughts on if bliz made Lilian Voss undead leader. Currently she couldn't and wouldn't but if they made a story of her rising up to the point of being a leader that would be awesome. She's suppose to be one of the most powerfulest shadow priests in the game. Most ppl believe she was a rogue cause of the daggers she has. I thought she was a dk at first cause her weapons are called rune blades. Still waiting on that tauren video haha.
Hey nobble i was wondering after i watched your old gods part 3 video could the giant statue\dead construct in howling fjord be the fallen titan that needs to be rebuilt it would be awesome if you answered this love your videos keep up the good work
Vol'jin was a good warchief although he didn't do something epic or something really worth mentioning he was well trusted by the alliance leaders which could help a lot in bringing peace. Sylvanas in the other hand was not even trusted by the horde leaders, and some alliance leaders would kill her on sight such as Genn graymane. She's not trusted at all and any mistake done by her could lead to war, I really wish Vol'jin didn't die or at least made Lor'themar lead or the Tauren leader (forgot his name).

I still giggle at varian saying We will end you. XD
Yep, Varian died like a hero, a king. Varian downed a World Boss solo, went to down several trash mobs and then got killed by a Raid boss in a huge explosion. Vol'jin.... get's stabbed by trash and dies like a bitch to poisoning.
Curious, what's a "world boss"?
Is there a video of voljin in legion beta? I really want to see what happened next.

He gets a whole new thrilling story for himself!

Yup, a whole, new, thrilling story. All for himself!
I had to wait an entire hour to hear the troll voice impression 😂 worth it
LOL when varian walked up to voljin adnd puffed his chest out and voljin just like stodd up i almost spit out my drink XD
"darkspear never die. . . you know. . . till they do. . . ."
"I hope Legion gives Vol'Jin more time in the spotlight" ~ Dies in the opening cinematic LULZ
Link to "Exodus of the Horde" with original sound please (at 5:36 ).
watching this really make me want to know more about the history of the trolls as a race
"I have never trusted you, nor would I have never imagine, that in our darkest time, you would be the one to save us all."
Vol'Jin: Darkspear never die!
Also Vol'Jin: *dies*
rise of the zandalari: best trailer
Vol'jin was the 2nd best war cheif. Thrall needs to have his child become the new warchief. Silvanis is crazy AF!
Love u you get me thhrough my days thos os verter than e book keep up the amazING work
Update on Vol'Jin: He dies like a punk and appoints Sylvannas, an obviously evil undead lich queen, as Warchief of the Horde. Possibly out of shallow fanservice or a hollow repeat of Garrosh Hellscream.
Varian: We will end you!
Every Horde player: Lmfao!!! Okay bet!
My main is Alliance but even I can't understand why Blizzard killed Vol'jin off so early. He didn't have much time as warchief. And I really liked his character despite him being a member of the Horde. I was looking forward to see how he would lead them. Instead, he was killed by a random unnamed demon...
Horde is where the cool kids are at.
Alliance r fuqqin lame
"Darkspear never die!" unless there is a couple of felguards around. Those things are tough man
Great lore video as always! Will you do lore video of Archmage Antonidas at some point? ^^
vol'jin was my 1st legendary (which was also golden btw) in HS so I will miss him
Nobbel could You please do a story of Chen Stormstout! i always wandered who he was since the WC3 and since i haven't played WoW since the start of the cataclysm i do not know much about him. please :3
Hey Nobbel! love your videos. so on point i cant stop watching them.. will there be a Thrall/Goel vid soon please please make that your next project !
He was more than just Warchief. He was a leader.
if you watch the end cinematic for siege of orgrimmar closely you'll notice vol'jiin is missing a good chunk of his torso
R.I.P Zuni i wish you had a better and longer life.
1:09:47 Then ya must be as disappointed as I am about da time in da spotlight Legion gave ol' Vol'jin
“DARK SPEAR NEVER DIE”
*Curb your enthusiasm theme*
3:07 I definitely would’ve failed this test
Garrosh... the only WoW char who knows about the meme "Cool guys don't look at explosions" 1:02:30
Lol watching this now, hearing you say we don’t know what happens next. RIP the last good Warchief.
"I hope Legion gives him a bit more time in the spotlight"... I'm guessing someone was disappointed :P
Please do an updated video of this because I believe that Voljin will be an important part in the new patch
One of my favorite characters.. Sad he didn't get to do more..
