Ladies, if you're with a man, and you check on him or he just decides to confide in you and tells you things on his heart. NEVER EVER use that information in a fight against him later. He'll never tell you another thing like that and NEVER truly trust you again with his heart. He may still love you, but won't trust you with his emotions.
As a veteran myself and a female, this video is particularly powerful. Seven years ago a Marine I knew but not well took his life, there was no indication he was in pain. Two years later his best friend whom I knew very well, tried and failed. Thank God he failed. I have five brothers, half are introverted which only complicates the matter and the youngest attempted to take his life two years ago. Even my father, whom passed away 20 years ago to cancer never spoke about his feelings being as introverted as half his sons.
I cannot tell you how much I wish this video had come out seven years ago, maybe it would have saved his life and maybe it would have prevented the attempts of the other two. I don't know for sure but men do NOT get the recognition they deserve nor the ability to lay out their feelings often. Not all women are like this but as a society we have moved in a direction of conditioning men in this way and expecting them to be this way. You can still be a masculine, take the lead, defender and tough man while also letting those tears flow...

I'm a veteran and I'm not proud that I tried once but had 2 misfires . But it was everything building up. I finally got help but it took everything I had to do it

i keep on sharing this idea ... about dax's to be a man
this song being open verse should become the longest song ever written with the most contributing artists
and i think if we crown our king this is where Elvis's should be passed because he demonstrates the example of a true and fair leader each of his subjects gets to lead through the openness of his example..
and it comes to us at a time when we have the least support and have to join together and rise up to bring a change to a world that must pull together or were lost .. and we are at the biggest disadvantage we've ever had .. but this is the time and that's what we have to do.. so we will. what makes this song special it's not just speaking on one element.. relationships, addiction, social pressure, emotional obligation, and the desire to persevere.
I really like what Dax has been doing with his "Open Verse Challenges" on some of his songs.
It really allows and encourages people to connect with the song on a MUCH more personal level. It kicks down the door and starts conversations, and sometimes that's exactly what I need because I tend to get stuck in my head.

I've watched so many of these videos and heard so many younger men state they didn't have a good father figure in their lives. I makes me feel sad and happy at the same time. Happy because I had an amazing father.. some of you would probably put him down because he was strong and tough and didn't show affection the way you all would probably demand. but my father raise 3 boys. We were a farming family and I saw what my Dad had to go through and had to deal with and he never complained, at least not in front of us. We all knew our father loved us. He raise three men who are all successful and strong. I've been through some struggles in my life. Most of them not of my own making and because of the what I was taught and the way I was raise, I pushed through all of them. I really feel bad for men who are either on their own or only had a female figure in their lives. Nothing against women, mothers are extremely important but I get mad at people who discount how important it is for young men to have a good male example in their lives. Great Song.

I'd love to see your reaction to the song, "I'm Not OK" by Rhodes. I found it very powerful and a great message about it being ok to NOT be OK and ask for help or, just to accept help. I think that is something a lot of us fall pray to the stereotype that men aren't supposed to ACCEPT help, let alone ask for it. As a fellow tormented veteran, I love what you are doing with this channel. The struggle is real, but it helps when you realize you aren't alone.
AMAZING reaction bro. I can relate ALL TO WELL unfortunately. 16 year LEO. Sustained a SIGNIFICANT back injury, which lead to SEVERE nerve damage. Legally “ Disabled” to the point where u can’t drive. Also have the ole anxiety and PTSD. This one’s a HEAVY HITTER in the “feels”. As a old divorced Christian vet with TBI and PTSD. I think it can be harder just for knowing, what waits for us is so much better than what we are living. I will be honest, my faith i feel is why im still here. I believe it's not up to me to decide when i go. That is God's decision. So i wake up thinking shit still here. So i get up and try my hardest to be who Gods wants me to be to others. Yet i find myself not trusting any responses from them back, so i don't let people get too close. So i spend my days fighting the battle within. I will use a man's number one and two responses. I am fine and it is what it is. I figure the day will come when God will say I've been through enough.

My little brother years ago tried to commit suicide but his landlord had made a wellness check on him and saved his life and she even gave dad a call to tell him that she called him an ambulance 🚑 and both of our parents went to the hospital and they got him help. He is doing good now. A man who shows their emotions is very strong not weak in my opinion they should always show their emotions.

What resonates most for me is how we, as men, will put everything before ourselves. As a husband of 15 years, father of 2, I would hold in pain and suffer a thousand deaths to see my girls be happy and prosperous. What this song awakens is how a lot of men will give everything for those they love while only praying for a fraction of reciprocity. The second female vocalist broke me, because if I heard half.of what she sang from my wife, i would truly want for nothing.

Its not that its what we do on our own because men have neen dealing with this shit since the beginning of time but lately ontop of our own struggles the world is coming down on us adding so much more weight it cant be sustained but if we cry or complain we are weak and discarded

Unfortunately so much autotunes used on voices. Definitely miss the days before autotunes hearing a singer's real voice. That said the version with darious rucker was better.
