  • If you're like me, dairy may not always sit well. Oat milk is a fan favorite when it comes to milk-based espresso drinks but can be challenging to get latte art! In this video, I will show you the way I steam oat milk to the point where it creates that creamy micro foam needed for latte art!

    Not trying to be a jerk here but at 00:20 you said that using oat "milk" won't change the taste or the texture. I feel like this is objectively false, they both are very different in taste AND in texture.
    Great video overall !

      I think the point he was making is that Oat Milk is the most similar to Cow Milk in coffee compared to other alternative milks. In my experience this is true.

    I've been making oat milk lattes with Oatly! Barista Edition with my Breville BES870. It seems challenging to get the same texture as whole milk. Do you know what temperature you usually stop adding air at?

    • @MarcoMHanna
      @MarcoMHanna  3 года назад +1

      As soon as the pitcher is warm to the touch. So something a little over skin temperature. There’s a bit of lag between the milk and the side of the pitcher, but you definitely want to stop adding air when it’s getting warm, and focus on integrating by then. This is why it’s usually preferred to have a powerful steaming machine, so you can get the roll established quickly.

    • @MarcoMHanna

      I’ve had the best results with Original Oatly! I’ve also used their Barista blend, but it’s more expensive to use but delivers slightly better feeling lattes (more akin to real milk, but not a huge difference to warrant the extra cost).

    • @MarcoMHanna
      @MarcoMHanna  4 года назад +2

      I’ve used a few brands of oat milk, as long as you get it with sugar, it should froth well. Non-sugar Oat Milk won’t be able to hold up the froth. Oatly gave me good results too!

    Wow awesome setup! Can you get the right creamy oat milk consistency with a handheld milk frother? I've got a cheap de longhi espresso machine that yields decent espresso. I've been struggling getting the right oat milk texture for latte art.

    • @MarcoMHanna
      @MarcoMHanna  3 года назад +1

      What kind of steam wand do you have? Some of the cheaper machines have the wand with a small hole on the side, it adds way too much air and creates a foamy mess. What you want is a 1 or 2 hole tip, creating a good vortex and only introducing air when it’s still cold. As soon as it begins heating up, bury the wand and keep that vortex going to incorporate the foam.
