- Frank Prentice's survival of the Titanic's sinking in 1912, at the age of 23, is one of the miraculous tales from that tragic night.
More than 1,500 people died when the Titanic struck an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912, causing the boat to sink.
In the BBC documentary The Great Liners from 1979, he vividly depicted the harrowing events of that historic night.
Prentice described how the Titanic sinking continued to haunt him in his dreams for decades afterward.

Bless him. That kind of experience is one that would follow you for the rest of your life. His story about the half filled life boats stuck with me. It really is a well known phenomenon, people just can't accept the danger that is in front of them, often until it is too late. It's always something that happens to someone else, never you.
With all certainty he had PTSD. We're just now, in the 2020s (45+ years after this interview was recorded), beginning to effectively treat patients with PTSD in clinical settings. I wish it hadn't taken this long.
He's pretty sharp for a 90 year old.

Doesn't surprise me at all that he ended up being rescued by a lifeboat and sitting next to Mrs. Clarke. He helped her and saved her life, so the circle of caring was completed when she saved his.
If only we all could face calamity with our caring & courage intact.

no it never fully broke in two pieces. The first piece helped pull the second into the sea.

@@ethancoster1324 half the survivors didn't see it break from their line of sight. So for around 70 years it was debated until the scientists physically dove down and saw it in two pieces on the ocean floor.

I want to let you know that AMV33X made it this year. Any better way to start a global change? Dont get me wrong I know they are not like altruists or something but they keep doing the right thing to improve the situation, power the ecomonmy and so much more.
