I found that it was easier to learn backstroke than freestyle. It felt so relaxing rather than freestyle

This is the only store I know how to swim and I’m always trying to improve it! I need to work on the 3rd tip, definitely rushing through the pull

Backstroke is relaxing and relatively easy than freestyle.

Thanks for the tips. I was struggling to start the backstroke. Then I noticed Roy breathing underwater initially, in backstroke too and honestly - mind blown

I hate it so much!!! I started learning how to swim all by myself last 3+ months coz there were pool down of my apartment. I'm getting the hang of freestyle, breakstroke is fine, but tiring. But I couldn't do backstroke for more than 10 seconds coz the water keep entering my nose. I've practiced backstroke for like 1-2 weeks casually, BUT I STILL CANT DO IT. Can you share one or two tips/tricks to do it while not getting water in the nose? 🥲

@@mubaraksenju7521it's all about timing, you have to recognize your hand movement while doing backstroke , and as per those movement you have to inhale and exhale , 😩 it took ⅔week for me to learn perfectly

Same here. I worked really hard a fc and after years was still pretty poor at it. Switched to back stroke ans after 9 weeks training hit over 10km in one session.

Anyone have any tips for keeping your head straight/swimming straight while doing backstroke. I do try to look at ceiling beam but doesn't seem that helpful. Thank you in advance!

Check if you go in a straight line just with kicks. This is a reason for a lot of new backstroke swimmers. If not, then your kicks are asymmetric. Check which leg needs correction and work on it. Otherwise, it might be that one of your arms is pushing better than the other.

But Why is it that when my students move their arms, water falls on their face?Although they raise their hands diagonally to avoid water resistance

    • @nataliechandler4086

I like to swim backstroke and the rotation of the shoulders is important so they are not backstroking too flat, could be more splashing from a flat swim. Also, I tend to rest my wrist on recovery, so my fingers are not pointing up, they are pointing sideways (facing away from body) almost pointing down ready for entering back into the water pinky first. Good luck to your swimmers.
