When I was growing up in the 80's, my buddies and I would go to the park. However, we went a little differently than most. We were given $10 and dropped at the ferry in downtown Sandusky. The rule was, we had to save enough money to get the ferry home. If the parents had to battle the traffic and pick us up at the point, it was game over. The ferry was $2.50 round trip. We would arrive at the ferry dock at CP with $8.75. Lunch could be had for $5. That left $2.50 for the arcade or sweets and $1.25 for the ferry ride home. However, we'd get off the ferry and immediately blow every last cent in the arcade. We'd then spend the day riding Demon Drop with our little hands digging in the crack of the sear while riding to get money to get home. Over and over again! The ball pit at King/Kid Arthur's court was also a great spot to find change (and bio hazards, ha!).
This brings back so many memories. As a kid, this ride scared the daylights out of me. It took a couple trips to the park for me to get brave enough to ride the Drop. Nice to see that it's still alive and kicking.
I worked at Cedar Point in the summer of '87. I must of ridden that ride 50 - 60 times that summer. I lost only one quarter from my knee. It was my favorite ride at that time and still would be if I can ride again!
I will never ride it, terrible ride, and unenjoyable, I see it when I was there ten years ago, Possessed is better, Power Tower at Cedar Point, Dominator at Dorney Park, Drop Tower at Kings Dominion, Kings Island, and Carowinds is better than that. Very painful ride.
@@paulschab8152 TO each it's own experience.... I remember riding this as a child at Cedar point. I was scared in line lol. But after the fear was over I rode again lol.
My grandpa and I got a t-shirt for being in the group of the first 100 people to ride❤
If Coaster Studios sees this, he's guaranteed to comment "It's not a coaster!"

Another northeast ohio ride at Dorney Park called Possessed was The Superman Ultimate Escape/Steel Venom at Six Flags Ohio/Geauga Lake.
I'm 34 and I'll never forget riding the free fall when I was like 12. first drop coaster.

@@jdhardy10 Thats why no one else is laughing. Has nothing to do with what I said. Just stating facts. You must be some type of degenerate
@@jdhardy10 You know nothing about the amusement industry do you?
@@alecscheerer_run absolutely not. I've only been riding for about 35 years. It was a joke, not a dick, so don't take it so hard.
@@jdhardy10 Kind of hard to tell over text. Don't get what that even is supposed to mean

Demon Drop was a classic at Cedar Point. I glad it still lives on.
