I just stumbled onto your channel today. What a blessing you are to so many, I am sure. Hubby and I are in our mid 70's, have raised three great kids, all married, and have been blessed with 16 grandkids. We have five acres, two steers, two mini donkeys, a few chickens, and one fat cat named Bob. We have been eating what we grow and growing what we eat since moving here in 1981. At that time, we had no money, the farmhouse was a literal mess b/c it was old and we just kept plugging away at it day by day. My husband worked outside the home and then helped with things here. Over the years we have raised meat goats, dairy goats and hogs as well. Take heart friends. We eventually saved enough to start working on the house and did most of the work ourselves. We paid off our mortgage in our late 50's and so I know that can be done. We have a big garden every year......still. Our kids live closed by with their families and two of them live in town and our youngest son has a little homestead not far from us and he too, works outside the home. The others work as well but they all come back here to help when it is time to butcher and do the really hard things. They all reap the benefits of that and our youngest son has hogs on his little farm, so we all share in that endeavor as well. We aren't "rich" monetarily, but we are rich in the things that matter. We love God, our family and our community. We help people when we can and have a lot of friends. Our church family is such a blessing to us. There are so many things in life that God gives us every day that are worth so much more than the world thinks of as "riches". The sweet smile of a baby, a toddler giving you a hug with muddy hands and telling you they love you, a husband that tells you that you are beautiful and gives you a sweet kiss on the neck when coming home from work as you are at the stove finishing supper. All through my life, it's the everyday blessings that take my breath away and I cherish that. So, sweet Mama's and Daddy's out there, keep doing what you are doing and trust God with the details. He will never fail you and you and your life will be so full of joy! I chose joy every day. Be well. 😃

Its me again. ..We are so excited because for the past few years, we have had our own calves born from our cows and this year and a few weeks ago, we sold 2 bulls that were born last summer and we finally made money off our farm...Halleluijah...My husband and son built a greenhouse for me Spring of 2023, so this past spring I started seeds and am trying to sell my plants on MarketPlace. Like you, I set the bar too high for myself at times, but, the Lord is helping me not to be so hard on myself and to take it a day at a time and do my best and He will do the rest...God bless you dear and thank you for your transparency. And btw, don't let the negative comments get to you. There will always be mean people who feel the need to share rude comments...You are awesome and I look forward to seeing more of your channel...Sherri-Idaho

I just found your channel and I absolutely love it. You have a great sense of humor. I have 2 sons in their 30's and have a 16 yr old son and a 14 yr old daughter. I feel the same way you do when it comes to socks. It doesn't bother me at all that I wear mis-matched socks more than half the time...LOL Life is too short to worry about whether or not my socks match..We are christians and I homeschool my kiddos as well and we live in Idaho on a 13 acre farm. We raise beef, we have chickens and one dog...God bless you all...Sherri-Payette Idaho

I feel ya on the stove 'issues', Shayla! We bought a new stove about 3 months ago. My requirements were; propane, ALL 4 burners the same size (for canning purposes), no digital anything, no clock, no light, no glass window in door, sturdy racks, no buttons & a pilot light that stays on all the time (meaning no electrical ignition). Well that turned out to be like finding a leprechaun. Basically, I wanted a duplicate of the oven that I purchased 20 years ago, just a new one. We searched for a long time. Because what I want is a super duper stripped down basic model it is impossible to find. everyone wants these gigantic, blackstone top, griddle cooking monsters and they are like $3500! I want function & durability & no frills. Well, it took 3 tries. every time my husband would go to pick up the stove it was smashed in inside the box. We finally gave up & got one that was dented where no one can see it, because I could not go any longer without a stove. It still doesn't have the functions I really want. It DOES have 4 burners the same size, no clock, no digital display or buttons, no light or glass pane. BUT, there is no more pilot light - you are forced to get electrical or battery ignition (we chose battery) which stinks because our power goes out....a lot! AND I use the pilot light for rising dough & making yogurt - so there goes that. The racks are flimsy & actually 'dump out' of the stove if you have a roaster on one. And now, the oven will NOT stay lit. I have to check it every 10 minutes & the flame keeps going out. My husband has tried everything (& he's a handy guy) and we have contacted the manufacturer. No dice. So to bake a loaf of bread that takes 20 minutes I am now up to an hour, because if I don't keep checking, the oven turns the flame off. We also bought a new fridge (same deal, wanted one that is absolutely no frills) & it freezes everything. I just CAN'T keep produce in it. And we had to buy a new washer & it sucks too (pardon my french) - it has a lid locking feature that I hate (my hubby has tried to disable it) & it fritzes out all the time & stops in the middle of the cycle & the digital part won't let you select anything. yOu have to unplug it & re plug it for it to get movin' .... we have spent a fortune in appliances these past 2 years & have been let down on all of them. I truly wish we were off grid & just learned to function without modern appliances, but my family is not on the same page. Well...gotta go check the oven now🤞

Thank you for your lovely encouragement. You are a blessing in my life. You truly inspire me! ❤ I just started a RUclips channel myself and I’m working part time and taking care of my handicap husband and I also have a little homestead as well. sometimes life is so hard and I don’t even know where I get my patience, but even though we have nothing and we’re starting over again I have hope! God is always here with us and always has a plan ❤

I have a mental hurdle about my fridges right now. We have two and normally I organize them weekly to take stock of what we need to use up but after a busy few weeks of hosting church home groups and basketball team dinners, I just can’t bring myself to organize the fridges. I’d rather be outside working with my plants. I have noticed that it actually makes me scatter brained in the kitchen! Like I can’t get meals on the table as easily because my brain just can’t make sense of what’s going on in the fridge. I’m sure I’ll find time eventually, but for now, I’m enjoying summer freedom from homeschool for a time before we get back to more routine.
Thank you for the video! I always enjoy them!

When you said “pickled beets” my mouth watered! That is one of my favorite foods! I wish you could send some of cooler weather to Tennessee! It’s sweltering here. I am on a fixed income. I want to learn how to make frugal gifts for family and friends. I believe we are all struggling now. Let’s all pray for each other. 🙏🙏

I had to laugh... I use an actual toilet brush for my dishes! I just buy it at dollar tree... It works better than a dish brush.
