Nice vid. And a nice blade. Seems very capable. And that small hands of Ms Tac seem capable too! Se gets the job done! Nice touch in reviewing and testing. Tx for sharing.
I think it’s better suited for urban tactical utility, as well as wood processing. I’d like to see you do a steel door test . Where you cut around a deadbolt. Or through the side of a camper. Cutting fire holes in the bottom of an oil drum.Breaking through a mud brick wall. Making a hobo stove out of a big tin can.Or busting through a hollow concrete block wall. Urban survival stuff.
I get mine in about a week very stoked thanks for the review its the review hat has mentioned the handle protruding so it could be an isolated finishing issue. If I have the same concern I will remove the scales and trim and polish till its fits comfy, again thanks guys fairly to your channel but enjoying your reviews. Lee
I was expecting a loud smack to the side of your head the second you said 3 finger action, thats what she said.😀 this is a great review of a great knife. Thanks to you and the Mrs.
Hi I m from India nd I nobody is interested in knive related videos but I do............... I not only Luv but enjoy ur reviews Man......... Keep up good work Bhaisaab
Mrs. Tac is too hard on herself. I actually think having her in these vids is not only more entertaining but helpful as well because she will have a different opinion.
+Robert N I also think it opens up the possibility for lady subscribers to become fans of Tacs vids..More often than not women want to her from other women what they think about gear due to having smaller hands, slightly weaker hand strength etc..Mrs. Tac does fine in her cameos imo.
I have had my Schf9 for a while. Its my favorite Schrade so far. Many complain about the handle scales, but it fits my large hands well. The scales are not perfect, but for the do it yourselfers out there, it makes a fun project. For a $40 knife, your not going to find another knife with these capabilities and be as dependable. Just fyi, the F9 is 1/4 inch thick, lol. Good review, really like the intro!
+Tactical Yep, I'm still here. I have been busy. I had to place my wife into assisted living (memory care) because she has Alzheimer's. I'm trying to get used to living alone after 45 years. Your videos actually help me pass the time and cheer me up, so thanks for your efforts. Hey, give Ms. Tac a hug for me, brother.
+jffrocks my long time sub & friend, I'm sorry my brother I can't imagine.. your a great guy & she must be a great lady to deal with you for this long :) GOD bless my friend
+Blue Mountain Bushcraft and Outdoors My next woodworking project is gonna be new scales for mine as well... TPE is good, but the factory scales are not very good, also I don't like the way they are secured to the knife, you might want to use pins
I got an earlyer version of the 9 before they re-did the edge, Mine was like 45 degree edge and i change it to 35 (see my vid) that handle is for large hand. It batton like and axe and it is good on feather stick. good review. I'll probably do a review in the spring when i will have had this knife for over 21/2 year.
Thanks for the review, Tactical, I'm thinking of getting one! Mrs. Tactical didn't seem to noticed thickness of the handle, are her hands bigger than yours? Just kidding. Seriously, though, your comment about wide handle made me think should I get slightly smaller SCHF26 instead? I, actually prefer big handles, but this thing is a beast! My hands are barely medium size, did it feel really uncomfortable? Thanks again. Best regards!
great video tac , i have had one for about 2 years and i love it , but i will say that the dagum edge geometry is thick , it is hard to do close up work with it because of that , i thought I heard you say one time bush has a channel, if do whats his name ? thanks man and take care of yourself
Damn Brother, I got my kid one of these thinking he could beat it to death and it would take it. I was pissed at the grind on it. I could do a video about it, I am glad you get the good ones I am 0 for 2 with them. :)
I know you don't get into doing modifications, but I figured that somebody by now would have simply unscrewed, sanded and replaced the handles or made new slabs. There are a few videos of people modifying the other Schrades (SCHF10, 36, 37, 38, etc). I like the fat grips on this knife as I think there will be times when your hands need a different grip just like we tend to wear different shoes or sometimes prefer a backpack to a shoulder bag. God forbid if all knives had the same exact size, weight and handling.
Neato !!!! Figure grooves They cause "hot spots". Very good review , nice price no doubt , if Schrade would put a razor edge on these knives you test , it would really put them over the top in selling them ,
Gotta say it man...intro is much better with the classical/lord if the rings music. Every gun and knife video has some sort of "rock" or metal intro. You got it right with the classical stuff.
Schrade changed the design a bit compared to mine I got mine a couple of years ago and mine has 3 screws in the handle and the handle on mine is a little shorter I wear a medium glove and the handle isn't huge and I didn't get mine for $40 sadly mine was $55
I absolutely love this knife 🔪...used it all day yesterday building my shelter! Great bushcraft blade....goes great with drinking beer 🍺 and touching boobs! 😂
That's a nice blade, especially for the money. Not sure about the handle and black paint. It would look nice with a wood handle and silver blade. But for $40, it's a good'n.Thanks for sharing.
Dude, love your channel! But dont you get sick of reviewing Schrades? I know they are one of the only Knive companies to send you review pieces so far!...Hopefully more companies see the potential of using you for reviews!
The 9 is a superior batoning knife. The 9N is the better slicer. The 9N is TERRIBLE at batoning because the hollow grind is deep. The 9 is very hard to get slicy because of the geometery, which is very much like how they did the early JX testers. I tried to do a pros/cons of both video once but it made me crazy.
+PREPAREDMIND101 I had my SCHF9 sharpened by a professional on a belt grinder with a much shallower angle than the factory. I don't know what it is in degrees. It went from only a chopping tool to something that could actually slice things, like smaller plants while clearing trails. I took it to my water stones and then a strop and got it to slice paper pretty well. The factory edge felt like it was over 35-40 degrees inclusive, which is pretty silly.
Matt Mead I have mine (schf9n) at a 35 degree angle because I use it primarily as a chopper (why else get a knife with a 3/16" wide blade), if I were going to slice something I'd just grab my carbon steel mora or my trusty CASE XX sod buster Jr.
unless they redesigned the 9 its 1/4in thick there 4 -16ths in 1/4in and 3-16ths in 3/16 just so you know! that means that a 3/16 blade is 1/4 smaller than a 1/4 in blade thats kind of a big dam difference!
Say Heah Tac't and your Ms.'s, Yeah, I would like to Wish you a Happy Thanksgiving, Yeah, I found my Knife Grail Knife, Although I had to go out of the box to find it, I always wondered if there was such a thing, a camp/field knife and a bonified survival knife. I have a few knives and a few 24's to know what I wanted, First of all some of my 5" blades to me are a bit too short in areas like chopping and batoning, forget shorter blades, although the Bravo 1 I like. Mors Kochanski in one of his videos said a prybar that works wood well is a criteria for a survival knife. I sort of fell into my Fav's, I almost a complete line of Swamp Rats, the newer ones, I don't have the MountainManDu a 10" blade, but everything else including the Rucki and the RatWeiler, Anyhow when it came to getting the 6" blade I hesitated G eating it because I didn't like a Tactical looking knife for the bush. But then I found out that at their Custom Shop they could take the top gaurd off, so I did have it taken off, also at .260" thickness, I thought it was a little too thick again for the bush. So I had it thinned down. It came out beautiful, the surprise was it sliced pretty good and makes decent curls, But the area where the top gaurd was allows my hand motion better than all my other knives making my Modde Rodent 6 a very good chopper for a 6"+ blade, and the SR101 Steel hold's a great edge for a long tine. In my opinion a 6" blade is my minimal size to consider that size to be a survival knife, infact I like atleast a 7" blade for a survival knife, But what I had done to my Rodent 6, I don't hesitate using it as a camp/field survival knife, I guess I got lucky again, , , again, the two of you have a Happy Thanksgiving, , ,
+Tactical I assume you wear the mask to conceal your identity a bit... worried about crazy people out there knowing who you are... etc. I can understand that, but having Ms Tac and your friends unmasked could compromise your ability to remain anonymous. Also you talked about the possibility of being on a show... they probably wouldn't let you wear the mask and/or would blast your name out there. Just a couple things to think about.
Great review as always!! ..... the fit of the scales is shit! ... sounds like i have been lucky on the schrades i have, i don't mind touching up the edge as long as thee grind isn't off by a mile LOL
Not trying to be a dickhole by any means, but I have kinda mixed opinion on ms. Tac's performance. On one hand, she demonstrates quite a lack of skill. On the other hand, it shows a point of view of a woman/less skilled person on the subject. What I say is let's give lady a try.
mr tac you the man you kept your work ....respect ..respect
Good to see Ms Tac gettin in on the action!
Ms. Tac's enthusiasm is awesome
I like that miss tac is in this vid. The different view of the knife is great.
It's cool your wife is into making these vids with you Tac. Happy thanksgiving brother
Always good to see Ms Tac. Great vid.
Nice vid. And a nice blade. Seems very capable. And that small hands of Ms Tac seem capable too! Se gets the job done! Nice touch in reviewing and testing. Tx for sharing.
+KnifeCollector031 The Netherlands (Messenhobby) thanks man

I think it’s better suited for urban tactical utility, as well as wood processing. I’d like to see you do a steel door test . Where you cut around a deadbolt. Or through the side of a camper. +Robert N thanks man
+Tactical no problem Tac. Good review, I really enjoy you and the Mrs. doing reviews together. Keep up the good work man.

Should have gave her the Gloves!!!!!! Gr8 review and keep it up there ALL good!!

Love that disturbed intro Tac
Awesome job my man.. starting to like this model

+jffrocks your alive! aw yeah

+Tactical Thanks! Yep, she's a great wife to put up with my motorcycles, guns, knives, and all the other things I spent money on.
I think it's important to hear the female perspective on these things. My wife is very much like yours. We enjoy your videos.
Great Review Brother Tac!
Hi Tac!! Do more vid with Mrs Tac!! She is very nice!! She is charismatic!!!
Wow New intro was suprising af! I jumped a lil Bit :) but nice vid as always player

Great review MR.& MRS. TAC
Great review, as always. Cheers from POLAND :)
Schrade Knifes are very good stuff.....Thank´s for that video....
+Rolf Schelling anytime
I threw one in the truck , can't beat the price but ya can beat the knife 👍 The handle works well for big paws.
Is this better then the 42 and 42d?
Awesome intro song
I'm going to have to pick one of these up. It looks like it's begging for a new set of grip scales.
+Blue Mountain Bushcraft and Outdoors My next woodworking project is gonna be new scales for mine as well... TPE is good, but the factory scales are not very good, also I don't like the way they are secured to the knife, you might want to use pins
+Gabriele Magnabosco I love the tpe scales on the 52. But they are much thinner. A good set of Loveless bolts would do the trick.
+Blue Mountain Bushcraft and Outdoors I'm in Italy, I don't know what you with "Loveless" bolts...
+Gabriele Magnabosco they bolt together then both ends are ground flush with the grips.
+Blue Mountain Bushcraft and Outdoors id luv to see it after
I got an earlyer version of the 9 before they re-did the edge, Mine was like 45 degree edge and i change it to 35 (see my vid) that handle is for large hand. It batton like and axe and it is good on feather stick. good review. I'll probably do a review in the spring when i will have had this knife for over 21/2 year.
I'd like to see it with a full flat grind but I think they make one already or do they anyway good stuff Tac thankx for another cool vid 👍👍
love your videos
+Michael Hoek that's cuz your awesome
Nice review Tac, wished it didn't have the finger grooves, otherwise it would be awesome.
Thanks for the review, Tactical, I'm thinking of getting one!

Yeah they over thunk the handle but the business end is pretty good. one of my favorites.
Damn Brother, I got my kid one of these thinking he could beat it to death and it would take it. I was pissed at the grind on it. I could do a video about it, I am glad you get the good ones I am 0 for 2 with them. :)
+D.J. Moore dam my man, ill pray for you :)
LMFAO, I just ain't touching any of these again. I would rather pay a little more and know what I am getting. :)
I know you don't get into doing modifications, but I figured that somebody by now would have simply unscrewed, sanded and replaced the handles or made new slabs. There are a few videos of people modifying the other Schrades (SCHF10, 36, 37, 38, etc).

I like to mix it up
@Tactical If you were to choose between the SCHF42, the SCHF9, or the SCHF51... which would you choose (as a companion to a larger chopper.
+Roy Fernbach i own the 9 but as a companion the 42 is the way to go
+Roy Fernbach I should do a shoot out
+Tactical You should... since you have all 3 and you have the knowledge and firsthand experience. I look forward to seeing that.
The blade has a nice round belly !
Have you done a review on the habilis blades yet?

+Captain “The Iron Wolf” Arminius depends on price.. for $50 no sir but that's just me

if it is under $20 shur
***** Thanks man, keep up the good work.
Was that a walnut stump you were stabbing?
Is this really 1095 hc it just says high carbon stainless steel
Schrade changed the design a bit compared to mine I got mine a couple of years ago and mine has 3 screws in the handle and the handle on mine is a little shorter I wear a medium glove and the handle isn't huge and I didn't get mine for $40 sadly mine was $55

so if i had to pick between the Kabar bk7 or the uncle henry bowie set which one would should i get tac?
+Green Tea King bk7
Disturbed-the night NICE!
Love the intro bro
Nice and thnx, schf10 and Esee 5 and beat the snot out of them :)
I'm new to knives, anyone have any advice on this blade or the 42? or if there are any other blades you would recommend? bk2?
classic blade. i love this thing. ive beaten the crap outa mine and its still kickin ass. aaaawwww yyyeaahh.
+Blade Jockey good to hear
Its surprising you did on this blade seeing how there are millions out there. The TAC effect makes it worth watxhing brother.
I really liked this knife but it was not as good as a light saber but it still cuts some things.
Well it already lasted longer than the Kabar Potbelly and I am 6mins into the video..LMFAO.
That's a nice blade, especially for the money. Not sure about the handle and black paint. It would look nice with a wood handle and silver blade. But for $40, it's a good'n.Thanks for sharing.
Need one.
great vid
+Thanksman thanks playa
Good video, like the knife .40,00$ can't see the down side.
+Tom Juzba thanks for watchin Tom

Hey Tac, think you could turn down the intro a bit?
+Nick Kewageshig its to late now
***** Just for future reference!
difference in the SCHF9, SCHF9N, SCHF9CP?
+twillis1986 the 9 is 1095 carbon steel the 9N is 8cr13mov steel & not shur about the other
+Tactical thanks for the quick reply, might pick one up cabelas has these on "sale" for 39.95 online
It's the zombie girl star!:)
The 9 is a superior batoning knife. The 9N is the better slicer. The 9N is TERRIBLE at batoning because the hollow grind is deep. wish they made it out of 1051spring steel ,none the less for the price its a exceptional kidney poker,
Who is she ?
unless they redesigned the 9 its 1/4in thick there 4 -16ths in 1/4in and 3-16ths in 3/16 just so you know! that means that a 3/16 blade is 1/4 smaller than a 1/4 in blade thats kind of a big dam difference!
The difference between 1/4 and 3/16 is 1/16 not a1/4 the difference is not that much
+49Giants no 1/16 is a quarter of one quarter and it is a lot
+Larry Lee get a ruler look at 3/16 then at a 1/4
+49Giants but over the whole knife it will make a difference in weight
+49Giants my bk9 is 3/16 ill take it over that any day the bk even has more dexterity than any 1/4 in knife I've ever tried
SWAG
I have that knife bro it kick ass I did not like the sheath it come with so I got a kydex sheath from your recommendation
+bigbad Knapp my man!

Hell yeah Disturbed!!
+WeepingAngel04 U ....
i prefer a fatter tip thats not so good for stabbing, because then you can dig small holes in wood
+TheFreeViper true

+Roy Fernbach haha
+Tactical I assume you wear the mask to conceal your identity a bit... worried about crazy people out there knowing who you are... etc. I can understand that, but having Ms Tac and your friends unmasked could compromise your ability to remain anonymous. you know what would make these reviews better? ms tac in a bikini.....just sayin
