no sorry not sure what went wrong, possibly I did not maintain it as best as I could have, in fact I only cleaned it once in all those years and possibly a seal went on it
thanks for the view and comments Glen, this was a first to me, you can tell I was surprised by my reaction lol although sadly I speak like that a lot of the time, the gas was so cold, I could see an almost ice like substance on my fingers and had to wash it off... will be testing it with a new canister this weekend to see what happens. ATb and thnx Phil
Had a fuel canister with an aluminum nipple corrode (with the plastic safety cap on) in the trunk of vehicle. Less than 1 year EDC vehicle storage. Night time threading onto JetBoil aluminum thread fuel portal tore it a new butthole. Had to buy another new JetBoil (last one 17 years of loyal use). Now just use the old can for other cooking needs. For ANY fuel canister and stove unit, FIRST get a Q tip, and put vaseline, coconut oil, olive oil, or WD40 on all new fuel canister nipples. Take off plastic nipple cover, TOTALLY oil up, and replace plastic safety cap. Also oil up JetBoil or other such stove fuel portal threads. Will save you time, money, and a lot of frustration at crap products failing - when you truly need them. Glad to have mine fail (not really!) in a pre-SHTF, non-disaster, and non-campout situation. All my canisters and cooker gear fuel portals NOW all lubricated and CONSTANTLY REOILED before and after use preventing corrosion and raping the thread patterns.
Thanks for the in depth comment I will take it.on board and give it a go, also glad this happened during a training walk.and.not when it really mattered.
Any update on why this happened? Great channel. All the best.
