    I love this, I WANT ONE, take my money! Then I saw the price (CA$499.00), humm. Limited... hummmm... DAM! I showed the video to my wife and I thought she would love it and say get one but most of the things coming out of her mouth was "he's so cute" she laughed every time you giggled talking about it, she was like OMG he is like a kid with a new bike! She might still let me get one though ;)

      @@TheMidweekEscapeArtist Yep I saw that one while looking for this one and the design is similar, but the material is Stainless Steel and not Iron. The Iron will give off much more heat than the stainless steel version and that is part of the attraction. Also the ThousWinds version is a good two inches smaller in all dimensions and while they show a photo of a person cooking in a grill on top of the unit, they do not apparently sell the grill on their site and because of the size, I don't think I could use the Winnerwell Iron grill with it :( They have some other accessories on their site that look interesting and I may pick up one or two but as for the stove itself, The "winner" is Winnerwell :) No worries, she'll crack eventually! Thanks again , great video :) LOL I was on a roll, I just replied to like 10 people here asking different questions I had answers to. I am so psyched about this I could not stop myself!

    Not my price range, but the idea of a flame lamp with cooking ability is quite appealing. Sitting in the front of a bell tent around such a cooking lamp, talking and cooking dinner… But also at home, a session of an armchair roleplaying game (similar to better known tabletop roleplaying games, just with emphasis on telling a story, not on miniatures fighting on the table), combined with a slowcooker meal when the party gets hungry, or maybe just Raclette… Waiting for the not limited, cheaper standard edition, or maybe for a competitor. But no big deal if nothing in my price range ever shows up, it’s something I would like to have, but not really something I need.

    They're li.mited edition new but you can still find original ones.
    These were made all over the 1700s and 1800s meant as train station lanterns but hobos stole them and used them in hobo camps, they also work well for keeping warm to.
    The original ones also had the metal handle on them so you could carry them they didn't have the hinges on them.

      @andrewvautour1795 Месяц назад +1

      @marcoshernandez1427 Well in fact it isa not the "same stove". The ThousWinds version is made from 304 Stainless Steel and while it is a good material, it is NOT cast Iron and will not generate the kind of heat you would get from the cast iron version. Also as in my previous post, it is about 2 inches smaller in all dimensions so you would not be able to use the Winnerall's cat iron grill with it. And yes, I also noticed that they have a phot of someone cooking on a grill on their site but do not sell the appropriate sized grill...

      Kerosene-Based Fuel lanterns and stoves are safe for indoor use. Indigenous people in the north have been using lanterns and heaters for generations. My family had a cottage in the woods, very secluded with no electricity and we used Kerosene-Based Fuel lanterns and stoves exclusively and there was never a problem. We later switched to a cast iron wood burning pot belly stove for heating but again, we used the Kerosene-Based one for years. HOWEVER, because they burn oxygen (like any flame based devise) they produce carbon monoxide so make sure you have a well ventilated camper or tent. Use the same rules as you would with a Mr. Buddy Heater unit. They (like a Mr. Heater) are not recommended to keep on while sleeping but personally I have done it many times, again, make sure you have flow through ventilation and you are fine. Also note unlike a Mr. Buddy, they do not have an auto shutoff feature that activate when it's tipped over so DO BE CAREFUL, if it tips, fuel can leak out and that can be VERY BAD. Always make sure you have one of these fire blankets on hand and close by: www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0BVZ7TDK7/ref=ewc_pr_img_10?smid=A2VWS0TSRMSZRQ&th=1

    Not sure about the Mica window on something so expensive!

    • @tangopapajuliet9469
      @tangopapajuliet9469 2 месяца назад

      Mica is a naturally occurring mineral that can be split into thin, flexible sheets. It has several properties that make it useful in various applications, including its resistance to heat and its electrical insulating capabilities. Here are some considerations regarding mica versus glass for a product like a mini oil-fired grill or a tiny iron oven:
      Advantages of Mica:
      1. Heat Resistance: Mica can withstand high temperatures without melting or breaking, making it suitable for environments where heat is a factor.
      2. Flexibility: Unlike glass, mica is flexible and less likely to shatter under stress, which can be advantageous in products that may experience vibrations or impacts.
      3. Lightweight: Mica is lighter than glass, which can contribute to a more portable and user-friendly product.
      4. Electrical Insulation: Mica is a good electrical insulator, which can be beneficial in applications where electrical safety is a concern.
      Disadvantages of Mica:
      1. Durability: Mica is not as hard or scratch-resistant as glass, making it more prone to surface damage over time.
      2. Transparency: Mica is not as clear as glass, which might affect visibility if the window is meant to provide a clear view of the interior.
      3. Perceived Quality: Consumers often perceive glass as a higher-quality material compared to mica. This perception can impact customer satisfaction and the perceived value of the product.
      Customer Concerns:
      The reviews you shared indicate that customers were disappointed by the use of mica instead of glass. The main issues raised were:
      • Perceived Flimsiness: Customers felt that mica is flimsy and likened it to plastic, which suggests they were concerned about its durability and quality.
      • Price Justification: Customers felt that the price of the product was not justified given the materials used, particularly the mica window.
      Is Mica Better?
      Whether mica is better than glass depends on the specific application and user needs:
      • For applications where heat resistance and lightweight are critical, mica might be a better choice.
      • For applications where durability, scratch resistance, and clear visibility are more important, glass might be preferred.
      Conclusion:
      The choice between mica and glass involves trade-offs. Mica offers benefits like heat resistance and flexibility but lacks the durability and clarity of glass. The negative customer reviews suggest that, in this case, the use of mica did not meet their expectations for quality and value. It’s essential for manufacturers to consider these factors and communicate the benefits of the chosen materials to their customers to manage expectations effectively.

    You're a true enthusiast, exactly the right person who should be reviewing this kind of gear. Good on your daughter for trying some of your seafood, even though she thought it wouldn't taste good. She discovered that prawns taste like butter (or buttered corn). Your video reminded me of this other candle stove i saw a fears ago. Both great stoves and great videos! ruclips.net/video/EtPoq4XHTn4/видео.htmlsi=qCkGD18iRojWvZsK

      It puts out a lot of heat. But I think it’s for outdoors use only. I wouldn’t recommend using this inside. It will put out co2 and breathing it in could cause death if you fall asleep not to mention the other risks.

      @@bozwick019 Reposing for information: Kerosene-Based Fuel lanterns and stoves are safe for indoor use.

    This winnerwell stuff is so over priced for what it is
    It seems they feed off people's RUclips videos, we know what that means, and its become a popularity thing rather that a value for money thing.

      i respect that but, value is subjective for each person, you might not see the value in it, but others might. I really like mine and the amount of use i get out of it justifies the cost for me, but that's me... I do agree that it is very expensive, i mentioned that in the video as well. it's not for everyone and i totally accept that.

      Can't believe they are pricing $400.00 for an oil lamp. Winnerwell must have bought the patents . So! They can charge this outrageous price. OMG. it's a retro novelty oil burner. I would like one myself just for that fact, Midweek Artist, I'm not disrespecting you by no means. Hope it gives you joy for many years. I have seen one of the original ones in an antique store many years ago, but I can't remember the name of them, seems to me ,,from what little I do remember,,,,it was named after a family member. A females name. That's what the antique dealer told me around 1968. The one he had didn't even have a wick. Enjoy! Yours..

      @@danieledwards8779 Hey Daniel, they aren't charging 400.00 for an oil lamp, they are charging 400.00 for a CAST IRON Stove that doubles as a heater and lamp, that's a BIG difference.. They were originally designed for train conductors to be used in the caboose of the train for heating and cooking. They were often stolen by hobos jumping trains and became known as the hobo stove. Cast iron is not cheap bro. Cast iron will put out an incredible amount of heat and if you have ever cooked outdoors in a cast iron skillet you will come to appreciate the material.

      @@andrewvautour1795 thank you for replying, glad you gave me the correct information on this stove, still, why the $400.00 price tag? Winnerwell, a great reputable company and are known for their stoves, evidently they are a replica or similar type, and yes cast iron stoves are great at putting off heat, I just can’t see why they are so expensive.

    • @andrewvautour1795
      @andrewvautour1795 Месяц назад +1

      @@danieledwards8779 I believe it is in the material. Cast iron is more expensive to manufacturer than stainless steel. something like this, a stove, can be bent to form a shape where cast iron, as the name implies, needs to be cast into the shape you require, so casting molds need to be made, more costs. Secondly, take for example a cast iron skillet, most are sandblasted but not polished because there is no need to polish a skillet so that brings down the cost. In this stoves case, it is polished, more work requires more skilled workers, which in turn drives up the price. The more work that goes into finishing a product, the care in it's assembly, the attention to detail like brass fittings etc..., all these will drive up costs. Honestly I don't think the price is exaggerated, YES it is expensive but you are getting in return an heirloom product that will last generations.

      Texan here for some clarity. Chorizo in Spain is the reference to ground spiced meat inside of a tube/skin, here in Texas and Mexico chorizo is super oily greasy fatty ground up skins and all the good stuff made spicy. Usually you split it open and fry it up

      What he was cooking is Espanol chorizo, the dish is called tapas de chorizo español, what you are talking about is Portuguese chorizo. The title of the video would indicate he used the correct sausage, they are both sausages. There are so many different versions regionally and nationally like Chorizo de Cebu from the Philippines, very different sausage but still chorizo.
