    Not my price range, but the idea of a flame lamp with cooking ability is quite appealing. Sitting in the front of a bell tent around such a cooking lamp, talking and cooking dinner… But also at home, a session of an armchair roleplaying game (similar to better known tabletop roleplaying games, just with emphasis on telling a story, not on miniatures fighting on the table), combined with a slowcooker meal when the party gets hungry, or maybe just Raclette… Waiting for the not limited, cheaper standard edition, or maybe for a competitor. But no big deal if nothing in my price range ever shows up, it’s something I would like to have, but not really something I need.

      @@TheMidweekEscapeArtist Yep I saw that one while looking for this one and the design is similar, but the material is Stainless Steel and not Iron. The Iron will give off much more heat than the stainless steel version and that is part of the attraction. Also the ThousWinds version is a good two inches smaller in all dimensions and while they show a photo of a person cooking in a grill on top of the unit, they do not apparently sell the grill on their site and because of the size, I don't think I could use the Winnerwell Iron grill with it :( They have some other accessories on their site that look interesting and I may pick up one or two but as for the stove itself, The "winner" is Winnerwell :) No worries, she'll crack eventually! Thanks again , great video :) LOL I was on a roll, I just replied to like 10 people here asking different questions I had answers to. I am so psyched about this I could not stop myself!

    • @twill9278
      @twill9278 28 дней назад

      Too much smoke is generally user error.
      Proper wick trimming (a very shallow "V"), height adjustment, and high-grade (K1) kerosene will minimize, not eliminate, smoke and odors.

    beautiful, its like a table top fireplace, what a huge flame! definitely great for vintage lovers like me, this goes back a long way, I think around the 1880s or so, it was used to heat old clothes irons, (old ones didnt use electricity, just a solid block of metal heated over a fire), or for boiling a small pot for tea, but its definitely strong enough to cook up some serious chow

    This stove reminds me a bit of the paraffin heater we had in the kitchen, when I was a kid.

      @marcoshernandez1427 Well in fact it isa not the "same stove". The ThousWinds version is made from 304 Stainless Steel and while it is a good material, it is NOT cast Iron and will not generate the kind of heat you would get from the cast iron version. Also as in my previous post, it is about 2 inches smaller in all dimensions so you would not be able to use the Winnerall's cat iron grill with it. And yes, I also noticed that they have a phot of someone cooking on a grill on their site but do not sell the appropriate sized grill...

    Did you know about the seebeck effect? You could place some platinum at the hottest part of the stove, and put a cooling fin on top... and run a copper wire in a circle from one end of the platinum, around the fin, and back to the other end.
    At the tip, you could place a wire, connected to the other fins in a circle, with the end of the circle being a + lead into a battery.
    Which I can also construct.

    Looks nice like a soapstone wood heater. I have had an old GI M50 single burner stove and the integrated 2 pan carrying system. This "Tanker Stove" is 70 years old. It will burn white gas, naphtha, mogas, diesel fuel, probably Ron Rico 151 (a waste of good drinking booze though). For car camping the weight wouldn't really matter but ounces equal pounds when you carry it. I think that I'll stick with my Coleman single burner. If it needs repair I can send it back to Coleman and for $50.00 it will come back running like you just bought it. Soup, eggs, bacon, fried spuds in a cast iron skillet. If I need light I'll use my candle lantern light

    I wonder how often the wicks need replacing and also if it gives off much ambient heat to warm the inside of a (properly ventilated) tent for example?

    • @BedsitBob
      @BedsitBob 3 месяца назад +1

      Provided you don't let it run out of fuel, the wick should last a long time.
      It's the fuel that burns, unless/until it runs out of fuel, at which point the wick starts to burn.

    Great review! I got notified by Winnerwell about the development of this stove before it was produced and I was going to get in on the presale but the price at the time was a bit much for me. This video sold me on the idea that maybe I really do need one! So I just ordered one! Thanks!

    How much soot do you think this will generate on canvas tent above? My white gas ( Kerosene ) stove would blacked the bottom of pots.

    Could be a dumb question but is it meant to be leak proof or no? I don’t think it is just due to the build and physics of it. If not you’ll have to be careful when traveling and keep it upright.

      Very unlikely, the liquid reservoir is sealed but it will leak out the top if it tips over. Yeah transit will be the real test! Thanks for watching!

    In fact this is a very nice furnace with high BTU rating. If they made this out of aluminum or low plate steel it would be an alternative to a foldable woodstove. If it burns 6-12 hours on 1 liter it is the best option ever. You got a heater, cooker and light.
