In my '69 FORD, I had a metal rack on the box, and dropped a canvas tarp over it. I slept in the box, on a plywood floor to avoid the ribs, in a down sleeping bag. Those were the days when you just went, fished, hunted, or just took to the bush for a weekend after work. Ah! Good memories. Getting stuck to the axles was just something we expected once in a while, part of the course.
Thanks for your video- a nice escape from politics right now....brought back memories of camping with my dad in his "67 Ford and 8ft camper, back when you could just go anywhere...without fighting for a "reservation"....
Those were the good times for sure. Times have changed. Luckily most of that hasn't hit all of Utah but it's gotten busier in the outdoors for sure. That's so awesome you have those memories with your Dad! 😁
Great video and I subscribed by the 27:00 mark. The simplicity of your meal preparation and camp is right up my alley. I’m not sure why you were embarrassed about being stuck. To paraphrase Forest Gump, mud and stuck go together like elk, pronghorn or deer backstrap and mashed potatoes! Looking forward to more.
Some of the best content on RUclips, PERIOD! My Pop was my hero. He taught me to drive in an old Ford similar to that one when I was maybe 6 or 7. He also used his knife for absolutely everything including camp cooking!! I owe most everything I know about how to survive in the world to him. As a 35 year auto tech, I'll share a little info with you, you may already know, but if not it will help the vintage vehicles. Due to emissions, oil companies have taken the zinc and phosphorus out of our oil. Modern oil is great, but not necessarily for older engines especially with flat tappet cams. Rotella T4 and Schaffers oil still have good amouts of zinc and other additives for these engines. I use Rotella t4 in absolutely everything. It's cheap and available just about anywhere. They offer it now in 10w30 and it's fine to run in the bikes with wet clutches too. Thanks for all the great content man. Hope this little bit of info is helpful. Your videos really motivate me to get out there!!

That brings back memories of 2022 for me. I was out there with my UTV. We fished that lake and I couldn't cast far enough past the weed line. So instead of hashbrowns and trout, I had to make hotdogs and burgers on my Firebox. We sat and enjoyed our friends company and basked in the sun. I remember all the names on the birch trees as we had to get through that mud hole. Thanks for the memories Steve.
Such a cool truck. Love the old school theme. A simple locker (lockrite, Aussie style in the rear axle would do your truck some good. Easy to install and less than $400 total.
Great video sir! Just subscribed. Love old trucks, off roading, old school camping, and mountain fishing. Get ya a winch and you could go just about anywhere in that beautiful ol rig. Can’t wait to see more trips in your 66 Ford. God Bless!!
Thank you so much for the sub and comment! I'm glad to hear you've enjoyed watching. Definitely need a winch or something of the sort. 😁 God bless you and yours as well.
Lol! It really was true. If you've ever driven a carbureted 4x4 you know that when the float goes on that much of an angle you have a good chance of stalling and when you do sometimes you start sliding backwards and when you do sometimes you get sideways on the hill and when you do sometimes you start rolling down the hill and when you do you usually die. Lol. That was off the cuff but that's probably obvious 😜😀😂
That's awesome! I think you're going to have a lot of fun with it Trent! Did you know that you can turn it over for grilling or use two of them to make waffles? 😁 It's like a barrel full of monkeys... never-ending fun! Cheers!

Great video! You talking about the older generation and their pocket knives totally made me think of my dad. At 85, he still does that!
