@@RedFoxCrypto awwwww, you guys....lol... i still cant get over this..... i at least thought he had glasses... i just pictured him between certain words adjusting his glasses
Thank you guys for doing this video! I am also a haggling miner
If I was to sell my 2 3070 non lhr and 3060ti non lhr how much would you pay. They've been mining since about mid May. BTW I am in Delaware and if the price is right I'll deliver 😀 I have more GPUs too.
in my country rtx 3090 is 3000 usd lol
more like $400 for rx580...
I think your prices are a little low. $300 RX 580's? $2000 RTX 3090's? Have you guys checked eBay lately?
Yeah those prices are about 30% to 40% low.
Thats the secret offer price lol
i find those all day on fb marketplace...
Facebook marketplace, OfferUp, Mercari, are you even watching the video??? No one even uses eBay to seriously buy cheaper gpus
The 580 8gb is a great buy for ether mining.. but when eth switches to POS.. not so much. Although the 1660's (ti and supers) are only 6gb vram, they are 30-50% more profitable on non eth coins. Most coins will be minable till 2025 and on as well. So for a budget builder, I'd recommend a 1660 ti or super.
The 1660s also make building large rigs easier due to their electricity usage. I have had 36 on order for months. lol
i was going to buy one for $100 but then the price almost tripled thanks to stupid miners and scalpers couldnt you guys spare 1 gpu for gamers like me right now im stuck with a gpu over 10 years old its so bad driver support was ended last year so now i have to download modded drivers
Got my gtx 1660 super for 125 bucks and now its running at 30 mh/s
OMG!!! I had an idea of what the Hobbyist Miner looked like in my head and it was nothing like this! lol, not a bad thing; just was surprising
Lol me to! Nice to finally get a face to the voice :-)
I calculate the price/mhs and buy the low price per mhs, im wait for 2 1660ti this month. I dont have much but im work harder for this.
Vega56+3070Ti+5900x+[3060Ti housing (20% for me).].
I used my $1200 stimulus check to buy crypto. That grew to around $7500 when Bitcoin ran up to almost 70k, and it sits at about $3500 today after taking a few loses trying to catch a moon shot with alt coins. Should I cash out (except my initial investment) to buy some mining equipment? I could set up a 4-5 card miner if I shop around for some deals. My ROI wouldn't be that important since it's profit from my original $1200. Anyone have any advice?
Super cool collab Mike. Recently started watching Hobbyist’s videos so it was cool to put a face to the channel. Totally agree with the slow approach, building up a mining rig one gpu at a time initially, until you’re more familiar with how one should work, so that you’re prepared on how to troubleshoot one when it inevitably doesn’t work.
that fireball in the back is for when your cards are not being detected and u dont know wtf is the problem
I started a year ago and definitely in the budget-side mindset on gathering GPUs. I've never spent over $1000 on a GPU and have piled up 26 of them at MSRP over the last 11 months. If I had started in 2020, I would have done it the same way, but I think I would have evolved into bigger budget buys. It's all about when you start and where you think mining is going. Right now, I want to be fully in the black by April and be super conservative with where ETH might be going and what the post-ETH mining world looks like.
Have you broken even?
ngl the camera shy and awkwardness makes this video better and wholesome
I just started mining 3 weeks ago.. I started off with one 3070 TI I got new for 1100, then I got a second 3070 TI for the same price, a used 3070 Non LHR I snagged for $900 on Offerup (sold by a gamer), a used non LHR 3080 for $2000, and finally a used 3090 Founders Edition I luckily got for $2k! I’m $8050 in my set up, I spent too much on the the motherboard and CPU but I also wanted to get my parts asap, rather than wait. I’m getting 384 MH/S
hey red fox r u going to try to get the new 3050 or 3090 ti?
Efficiency is everything. Time for me to make a video. Lol.
You and me agree on that!
I got started with two GPUs in a desktop. Then I looked for GPUs that were cheaper than the ridiculous 30 series prices. I was able to find 1070s and 1080s for a decent price. To acquire enough for a complete rig takes some time, but you can average out with a fairly reasonable cost per megahash. I chose these GPUs because to pay them off would be about 5 or 6 months based on prices at the time and ethereum’s profitability at the time. $12 to $14 per magehash was my target price.
Hardest part is finding people who are not scammers to buy cards from.
i started with my 1070 gaming pc, then bought a Optiplex and added a vega56 then a 6800xt then 1660ti
then i knew how to build up
bought 5600xt and 470/480/570/580 8gb cards
Happy new year eople. Shit i payed nearly double the price you pay for the 3090's in South Africa such bull shit . Thanks for the great content
Great collaboration gents and getting to see your face hobbyist ! I’ve been mining since October 2021 - and as you said in the video, you just have to start. I’m up to 9 cards, and nearly 600 MH/s. Server Power supplies have worked really well for me (Parallel Miner). I’ve gone from a small diy rig next to me when I do my day job to a dedicated room I’ve built in the garage. I’m in this for the long term and am completely addicted. Hunting down the GPUs is tough here in Melbourne Australia but I’ll keep at it. All the content on your channels have been a massive help - thank you.
What about 5700xt? I could get some of these but im not quite sure if its that good, i can get one for 1100$ Cad, i think its pretty good since they go 50mhs+
I used my 4 year old gaming laptop. 1650 Max-Q (whatever that is) gpu. Worked great to get me started fiddling with the various programs and exchanges. $1.50 a day profit. Learned TONS in a month and watching every video I could fine. Now I'm up to 6 GPUs in addition to running my gaming laptop when my kids aren't using it. Using the same technique on my 3090s as I did with the 1650, so great learning tool...
That's awesome buddy! 3090s! Heck yes. Happy mining brother!
Under $80 for a 6 pcie motherboard?
I’d be like Oscar the grouch of mining because I got first 3 mobos free and the rest of my parts from the pc salvage store other than the important parts , psu , risers , gpus.
This is a great video. It is so tempting to buy a GPU as soon as you find one because they are not easy to find. I encourage everyone to plan ahead with a budget so you don't impulse buy and blow your budget.
Best practice is to mine with your first cards to earn the budget for the next one. So you always have all cards paid off
The problem I have is not choosing which GPU but buying it at a fair price...
Little suggestion here: the flow of the video can be better if you reduce a bit redundant conversation, just simply list out the criteria and your recommendation
Thank you guys for consistently pumping out awesome content. Great to finally see what Hobbyist looks like :)
I started with two GTX 1060's, and then the X amount of $ a day got me and fueled the fire.. :P
On my first rig i bought cheaper cards like vega 56's, and got a few rx5700xt's. Rolled with that for a while until last summer when i started buying rtx 3070 cards for all the eth i had gotten. Now im saving again so i can buy more.. :P And i have promised my self that ONE DAY, im gonna have atleast ONE rtx 3090.. Just to have one. :P
Nice to finally get a face to your voice @The Hobbyist Miner :D
Soooo, tell me where you are buying RTX 3090's for $2,000. That is about the price of 3080 ti's. I started off with 4 GB AMD Cards used and then bought some 580 8 GB cards because 4 months ago there was nothing available new. Now I have almost all AMD RX 6600 's and XT's because those have been available and available new for about the same price as the 580 8 GB cards were selling used. I have a 3080 ti in my main desktop that I think will switch out with 2 RX 6600 XT's and then make it a dedicated mining card. That way I can use its full potential for mining.
if you can get an 6600xt for 500 to 550 its worth it. 6600 450 max ill go. two 6600xts have 1-2more mhs then a 3070 non lhr for 1k and same wattage.
Nice work fellas!
With crazy demand for server power supplies, prices are further inflated making them not nearly as worth it as far as I can tell. Used 1200w hp server psu plus 8 cables, breakout board, and 30 day warranty is 160ish on parallel miner. I just bought a brand new evga 1000w platinum psu that comes with all the cables and a 10 year warranty from Newegg for 169.99. Plus Atx psus will deliver their rated wattage on 120 or 240v and they run cooler and quieter than the server power supplies. Hope this helps someone else who is in the market for a psu for their rig!
I started off with 5600 XT's and I've had to increase my density due to space constraints. I was able to start getting 3060 Ti's to replace them. I paid under $300 for each 5600 and have been able to sell a couple and turn around and buy the 3060 Ti to replace it.
I don’t understand the density issue myself, I can fit 13 gpus, a psu, and a mobo all on a 30inch tall wire rack. Even in an apartment that doesn’t sound like it’d be an issue until you have a large amount of gpus and at that point density is the least of your issues as balancing electrical load becomes the main problem making efficiency paramount correct?
800 sqft a toddler and a wife. 6 stacked 12 gpu racks is already too much. I ran out of space before I ran out of power
@@joelstmartin makes sense, I feel fortunate to have a bit larger house at 1300ish sq ft where space is less of a concern. Kiddo and wife are still a concern though haha! Wishing you the best and thanks for sharing!
What to mine in 1660 bro?
Cool video dude! Rad to see ol hobbyists face too ! Keep up the awesome work man - sweet track too brother, love this jam 🙌🙌🙌🎉
great work
can I use this card below
GTX1050TI 4GB
Interface: HDMI-Compatible, VGA. DVI. PCI - E
Video memory width :128bit
You mentioned that you like to purchase GPUs from 2nd hand sites. Do you mind sharing what some of those sites are?
And now its time to finish that bottle behind you ;)
I am currently making around 2.30 a day for my first setup, you think it's worth it?
Bro its 2.30 nobody has mining is a long term play. Depending what coin you mine.
So currently i have 5 rx570's 2 480's and 470's i have a asus b250 mining expert i want to complete the mobo with 19 cards what would you recommend?
fkin amazing bro's
Awesome video guys! Very insightful! Earned a belly slap! THWACK!!
time and time again: rx 570 580 590 8gb and 1660 super ti. Ignore the rest if you are on a budget.
I started with 6 1080ti's, 4 3080s, 1 3090.
soo, 4 of the 6600XTs hash the same as a 3090, but at maybe 2/3 of the wattage. Why would you get a 3090?
resell and space efficiency
Well a while back I bought a 3090 for under $2k. So depending on the price it is nice to have all that hashrate coming from one GPU. I mined with it for almost a year and recently sold it for a little over $2600. =)
Surrrrrre make the cheap guy go first so you can bust out the Gucci gpus ;)
What's your opinion on the 1660 super vs RX 6600 if they are the same price?
About to do a video on this actually. RX 6600 is much more efficient, but the 1660 Super can be found at a cheaper price. Going to dive into this more ASAP.
@@RedFoxCrypto looking forward to it! I currently have 3 of each
Rtx3090 for 2k$?
No way you can find one in that price with a good cooling
Wait, what!? There are 3090s with good cooling? lol
Mike,, dont forget the Asrock H510,, its a great board, especially for beginners, and it will take up to 3 ATX PSUs. a bit pricey,, maybe ? but readily avalible so are CPUs, maybe not super economic for the big Nvidia "home heaters", as if you only put in 4 cards to get the needed spacing, cost pr. slot is maybe too big, but then gain, do you care if you are in the 3080 and up pricerange ;-) besides that, GREAT video with priceless info
I have found that many motherboards will work if you use 4 x 1 PCIe splitters when there is a lack of PCIe slots. I have 8 RX 570s and 8 1070s on two separate setups like this. They have been stable for months. I use one EVGA 1600w PSU on each frame.
Started from the bottom now we here.
My mining experience started with a gtx 970 but that never made much of anything. This was back in 2015 or 2016 when I built my first gaming pc. Fast forward to a year ago, I got a 3070, quickly hopped on nicehash. Ever since I've added another 3070, one 3080, one 3070 lhr, one unlocked 3060 and a 1660s I got from a friend who was upgrading and doesn't mine.
Nice dude! Congrats on being involved and happy mining brother!
how do you conect the server PSU its there some video on how to?thank you! Subscribed, the 3 gpus on the left the big ones what are those?
Would you also recommend buying mining rigs? I have done a little research on them, and they seem profitable
awesome
This is great guys, ty!
I'm planning to start minig with an ASUS GeForce GTX 1660Ti / Super 6GB, is this a wise decision?
Yea
omg hobbyist miner face reveal :P nice to see the face behind the voice/vids. Keep up the good work guys!
Thank you buddy!
@@RedFoxCrypto you're very welcome, keep doing what you're doing, i'm really enjoying the vids!
I wanted to buy more rigs but with Eth2 coming. Im not sure whether to purchase. Whats the advise? To wait or buy now?
Where are you finding 3090's for $2000? Jan 5, 2022...No Chance!
Awesome video guys - great to see the community thrive and collaborate like this - thanks
First?
Gpus at msrp are scarce. Bot miners have dem all lol
I’m more of a budget and low roi rigs. Doing the ol prebuilt way. Buy a 2nd hand prebuilt in stores, 20-50 % discount, take out the gpu, sell the rest on ebay etc
so nice video
I'm only in my second month of mining. I went in with 4x 1660Ti (because of their low power consumption) @ nearly $600 USD each .....
I've a single 1660 ti on Nicehash BTC and 3X 1660Ti on Minerstat ETH but I'm just stacking all because it's such a small amount...
I'm still trying to figure out pool switching and the best software, it's been an intense crash course so far... but hoping to add a further 4x 3060/3070 Ti (non LHR @ $1300/$1700 USD each) and get a spare BTC B250 8x GPU M/board up and running to consolidate a lot of it.... I do worry whether I should be spending the money on ASICs though instead...
Anyone have thoughts on this?
Thanks my friend! I run 3x RX6600 icm 2x RX580 in a single RIG. It works great and super efficient! Thanks for the confirmation that i make the right choice ;) The only worry i have is ETH2 and the fact the RX6600 isnt doing very well on other coins like Raven or ETC, what do you think? Keep up making this great VIDS and stay safe!
Same build here plus a 6700xt, I love it. 6600 dropped this morning on newegg but I got no money, lol.
@@pioneersmokehouseschannel i Just bought a 6600 on eBay from spain secondhand for 380 euro, so Happy 🎉🎊 i was looking for a 5700, 6700 of 6800 but are to expensive, they are realy nice to have
Solid advice and guidance guys really appreciate it.
Thanks buddy thanks for watching!
Great collab Red Fox! Keep it up bro
DON'T SPEND TIME AND ENERGY LIKE I DID WITH MINING RVN AND ETC
I BURNED MY GRAPHIC CARDS ON RVN AND I HAD TO SELL THEM AS TRASH
MINE DIAMOND
MINE EPIC CASH
Lol
Super cool seeing you guys working together !!!!
Love the little 1660 and 1660 super/ti I got one for 300$ used recently 24mh @ 48w is nice. 2060 and 2060 supers are pretty good too. got a few recently NIB for 500$ each 31mh or so out of the box @ 70w I tend to just buy Nvidia cards so when ETH goes 2.0 I can hopefully use them other algorithms.
What is your plan after ETH goes to proof of stake?
What are you going to mine?
@@frostsmaker8966 not sure what I'll swap over to mining after ETH 2.0. I don't expect them to hit the target date of june 2022. Most if not all of my gpus will be paid off by then though. Not going to sell my gpus I'll keep mining.
@@VRChance From what I see proof of work is still the best way because it is powerful. I mean, no one can hack it, and the environment (miners) are decentralized.
Yes, the downside is too much electricity being used worldwide. The proof of proof of work is the best is that 12 years had been passed and there are no attacks affect on bitcoin.
Please let me know what are you going to mine, I want to have insight. After knowing what ETH 2.0 will do, I don't know what to mine in the future.
@@frostsmaker8966 I agree with you and like I said I'm doubtful we will see 2.0 this june. Probably later in the year. It's hard to say right now what I'll end up mining I just use whattomine to keep an eye on my profitability. I've experimented with ravencoin ergo flux etc but nobody can tell you what will be the best coin to mine after eth until we see what happens. profitability will go down for a while, at least i anticipate it to but i think we can get good deals on hardware again when it does and over time i think it'll find a balance between ATH profitability and now.
3090 are point less you get 3080s and 6600xt's will hash better than a 3090 and cost less
just great to see the face mr hobbyist
I started out with a dell XPS pre-built from Costco with a RTX 3060 TI and some other old computers then I started expanding by plugging risers to the pre-built and basically I just let the gpu just sit there and power supplies to the GPUs then I made one cpu mining rig then I went to GPU mining rigs
👍👍
So… I’m considering a 3 card rig with 3080ti gpus versus a 6 card rig with 3060ti gpus. What would you build?
Try to find 3 3080 non LHR used
got a used msi b450 tomahawk max ii for under 70 dollars on Amazon wearhouse and it's done me well! I got a everything needed expt power supply and GPUs for under 200 dollars I think that includes my risers. it has 5 slots with out you splitting or using the m.2. I had trouble booting the thing at first but im pretty sure that was human error. if I spilt the x16 I can get alot more cards on it. also fyi yeah CPU was half the cost of the total.
Great collab, guys!
Thank you my dude!
Have you ever been burned with used gear? I've been nervous to venture into used gear, the fear of getting a gpu that runs for 3 weeks and craps out. Just curious if this is something you've encountered.
I watched like half the video before I was like why am I watching this? Me who is almost at 2gh...
Just because you LOVE mining just like us!
Had your investment returned now?
What year did you start mining?
@@frostsmaker8966 Yes I have gotten my investment back I started last year early in the year.
I’m surprised you didn’t have a little gnome covering hobbyist the whole time. Would have been funny but awesome to finally have a face to put to the voice!

1660sup hynix mem
LOVE THIS!
LOVE YOU!
Do a video on buying the mining hardware vs just straight up buying eth.
The gtx 780ti seems like a good price to performance
yeah for gaming lol
yea bro i got a rx 480 LMAO it sucks.. :(
What’s wrong with it?
@@Ash-my4gf it barely runs call of duty, gets 90fps on fortnite at most and only 4gb of vram

i bought 8 3070tis for 9k and am in love
Nice dude! Happy mining with those!
wow nice collab i like your channels guys!
THE BOYS!! Awesome video guys 👍 really like this collab content

First thoughts.. you should spend of that budget on proper lighting. It looks like you guys are in a dungeon.
The two of you work really well together!
NEVER BUY A 4GB CARD THE MINING ABILITY IS ALMOST OBSOLETE AND NOT EFFICENT AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
6GB cards can mine RVN until 2026 and ETH until 2024 (if the merge wasn't happening). 1660 Tis and Supers still come in with a .42 efficiency which is very good though not as good as non-LHR cards or 6600s.
@@RedFoxCrypto yep definitely ment 4gb not 6gb
If I told my wife: "I'm gonna go hang out with my buddy in his basement", she'd think I was cheating ...then the video of me and my buddy in his basement shows up 😂😁
Thats weird she would think that
Cool collab!
As someone with high power costs, high temps and a home setup really efficiency is king.
i only run multiple PC's with dual cards in them dotted around the house
Do you guys have any recommendations for server PSU's that are actually quiet?
Like to expand into a rig but noise is a concern
Again, Nice to meet you The Hobbyist Miner, you looking good there ✌🏼
Great vid... one problem... if i ever come on ur show.... im 6'6 .... ud see from my shoulders down LOL
