    Momina Hussain asks: How would u simplify the ratio 151.875:45?
    **
    Since 151.875 has three decimal places, you would start by multiplying both numbers by 1000. That makes them both whole numbers. Then simplify the usual way by dividing both numbers by a common factor.

    Am trying to find the ratio of 1029:504

    • @RexBoggs
      @RexBoggs  5 лет назад

      Since the digits of each number add to a multiple of 3, we can start by dividing each number by 3, ie 343:168
      Since 343 is 7^3, I tried to divide each number by 7 - bingo! 49:24
      And no more common factors other than 1, so that is the simplest form.

    How would you simplify:
    1,196:10

    • @RexBoggs
      @RexBoggs  2 года назад +1

      The factors of 10 are 1, 2, 5 and 10. The largest of these which is a factor of 1,196 is 2. So divide both numbers by 2.

      @@RexBoggs Oh yes, thank you. Also, i need your help because we are gonna make a volcano model. The volcano that we're gonna make has a height of 1,196 m with a base diameter of 10 km. We have to scale down in order to get the right maeasurement in cm for our model. So, 1,196:10.. i will divide both by 2. Therefore, it would be 598 : 5 i will change the unit into cm btw. So you think this is still big for our model? Then how would i simplify it because their only gcf is " 1 "

    • @RexBoggs
      @RexBoggs  2 года назад +1

      @@jasminetiongco859 If you are using it to make a model, your lengths only have to be approximately correct. So you can divide the base and the height by any number you wish, and round the numbers (in cm) to one decimal place. So decide how big you want your model to be, and divide (or multiply) by an appropriate value. Good luck!
