I just wanted to say thank you the way you explained this and the little strategy with the arrows makes it very easy so thank you looked all over RUclips and couldn’t find what I needed came here and said he needs to know he really helped me thank you 😅
Sometimes I struggle with Math or can't revise well but this video helped me learn how to simplify ratios. Now tomorrow I'm going to be in my Maths class nailing it! - 19.04.2018
Momina Hussain asks: How would u simplify the ratio 151.875:45? ** Since 151.875 has three decimal places, you would start by multiplying both numbers by 1000. That makes them both whole numbers. Then simplify the usual way by dividing both numbers by a common factor.
@@tan_kp320 If I am interpreting the question correctly, it would be 5/720 : 4/720 Then you have to simplify this by dividing each fraction by its HCF.
Since the digits of each number add to a multiple of 3, we can start by dividing each number by 3, ie 343:168 Since 343 is 7^3, I tried to divide each number by 7 - bingo! 49:24 And no more common factors other than 1, so that is the simplest form.
Divide both numbers by 10 to get 8:10 Find the most common factor which is 2 And then find out how many times 2 goes into each of those numbers Answer: 4:5
@@RexBoggs Oh yes, thank you. Also, i need your help because we are gonna make a volcano model. The volcano that we're gonna make has a height of 1,196 m with a base diameter of 10 km. We have to scale down in order to get the right maeasurement in cm for our model. So, 1,196:10.. i will divide both by 2. Therefore, it would be 598 : 5 i will change the unit into cm btw. So you think this is still big for our model? Then how would i simplify it because their only gcf is " 1 "
@@jasminetiongco859 If you are using it to make a model, your lengths only have to be approximately correct. So you can divide the base and the height by any number you wish, and round the numbers (in cm) to one decimal place. So decide how big you want your model to be, and divide (or multiply) by an appropriate value. Good luck!
Good nice conceptz💕💕💕
Thanks. Not to hard if you know your number facts.
Thank you so much for this video by the way! I've realised how to simplify ratios properly. I'm so happy that I've learnt this! 😊
I watched numerous videos on ratio simplification and this is the best yet
I just wanted to say thank you the way you explained this and the little strategy with the arrows makes it very easy so thank you looked all over RUclips and couldn’t find what I needed came here and said he needs to know he really helped me thank you 😅
Thanks! And all the best!
Thanks teacher
You're welcome!
You are very good at explaining also it helped me a lot I was falling behind in class but this video saved me keep it up
Thanks for your comment, it is very much appreciated.
Wow this is the only video I actually understand and learn from
Lol

its really helpful thank u
and im here 7 years later
I had a test today and it saved me
This helped me a lot thanks 🙏
You are very welcome!
@@RexBoggs thank you I’m actually doing a sum right now for homework it’s 5:4 divide 720 can u help me

How would u simplify the ratio 151.875:45?
thank you grandpa!❤
Thank you so much! I was struggling so much and learned how to do it half way into your video!
Glad to hear it was helpful!
helpful
thank you for teaching me!!!
Thank you so much this really helped me!!!!
good
I have to play world of tanks blitz foot
The way he explains is really good
Thank you so much I wish you were my teacher
Can we multiply instead of divide?
Both are doing the same thing
Yes, as long as your final answer is in the simplest form.
THANK YOU SO MUCH !!
Big THANK YOU SIR❤❤
You're very welcome! Thanks for the comment.
Thank you so much!
for 12:30 I divjded by 6 is it correct and I got the answer as 2:5 pls reply I really need to know I have a exam in few days plz
+LiveLaugh Love It sure it. Well done.
I just wanna learn how do you know that your gonna divide or multiply
Since we are simplifying, we want smaller numbers if possible, so we divide.
What... i did it with 2 , the last one, and it was also simplified, how come you simplified with 4 only? Where did i go wrong?
You are supposed to divide by the highest common factor. In this case, 2 is the lowest between them.
Shheeeeeeeesh
My teacher told us to watch this video if she said so its probably good ^^
Smart teacher :-)
thank you !!
for the ratio 12:30 the hcf is 6 not 3!!!
Sorry. I'll have to fix this.
40:300 the highest common factor is 10.
If you divide both numbers by 10, you have 4:30. You can then divide by 2 to get 2:15.
thnx m8

What is 80:100 simplify
Divide both numbers by 10 to get 8:10
Find the most common factor which is 2
And then find out how many times 2 goes into each of those numbers
Answer: 4:5
15:40
6:40
How would you simplify:
1,196:10
The factors of 10 are 1, 2, 5 and 10. The largest of these which is a factor of 1,196 is 2. So divide both numbers by 2.

2:5=x:10
Since 10 is double 5, x is double 2, so x = 4
Love how they purposely use even numbers......... Fuck can anyone do the 7:5 ratio???????? Jesus.
it's 12:30 u said 2:5 the answer is 3:5 lol
u got one of dem wrong not smart after all
it's 12:30 u said 2:5 the answer is 3:5
12÷6=2 not 3.
thank you for teaching me!!!
