  • Probably my favorite Nirvana song of all time. I really dug in on this one and made sure I got the tone for Serve the Servants in its entirety. Such a simple and minimalist song but extremely powerful. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed making it!

Are you ever going to release an EP? That version of StS has been stuck in my head for nigh on a year now man.
Give the fans what they want! (You'll sell more guitars) 😊
On a Ln other relevant note, it would be amazing to see you mod a quad reverb down to a single working tube. Take the tone recreation stuff to a new level.

Tech21 baffles me - their products were so instrumental (ahahah) from 90s and beyond, and yet their name only gets tossed around here and there every now and then. Glad you treasure their treasure. More mileage to you bro!

You didn't post quite for a while, that jaguar sounds exactly the same as the original recording. The jaguar has alot of highs and cuts thru the mix more because it has a 1 meg pot while the mustang and the hi flier (i dont know about yours) had 250k pots. Also I liked the mini cover of serve the servants you did. Do you have a link to the outro of your vid

Hey! Yeah it took me a while waiting to get another sansamp pedal, feels good to be making vids again. You're right! I forgot to mention that about the pots. The outro song I made pretty quickly when editing just to have some background music, I'm gonna finish it though!

Love your channel. I have a question about adding that "you" before the Serve the Servants chorus on your version. It changes the message to an individual. Curious, what were you trying to express by adding that you? imo the "oh no"s after "Serve the Servants" are ironic in Cobain's sardonic sense of humor as an allusion in the vein of don't bite the hand feeds posed as a question and not the statement it becomes when the "you" is added. As in:
Serve the servants? Oh, no! (with pearls clutched in horror at the thought of that).
Hope to hear from you about why you chose to add the "you". Thank you for your work. I'm excited about your The Engine pedal so I hope I can get on the wait list for it.

love your videos, man. they've really helped me get closer to the in utero tone. just wondering, do you think 1 meg pots on jaguars/jazzmasters help with the sansamp distortion tone? like it's super muddy/no highs for me when i play through other guitars, but my jazzmaster volume pot (and maybe your jag's?) is 1 meg and it brings the treble back. not sure if that's normal for an original sansamp or if it's just my unit. much appreciated

DiMarzio have been very consistent in building their pickups, so a new one will sound pretty much identical to an old one. Other manufacturers not so much, if they still make something they claim to be a faithful reissue. Although buying a 40+ year old pickup can have its downsides as well.

When you showed your quad reverb, is that really the settings you used with the sansamp? I find on my quad reverb, I have to use the settings the Andrew Barta (creator of the sansamp) recommended ...
Which is treble 0, bass 0, mids cranked. Sounds much better. And no bright switch. Curious...
