You had to sit around the office waiting for them to tell you what door to back up to. Or sit in your truck and listen to the CB for them to call you. We (company truck drivers) used to be able to write our cell phone off on our taxes, but changes to the tax code ended that 🙄😔.

This is why I chose to drive long-haul / relay when I was driving. The only people I depended on were people who worked within the company I was driving for. Had very little 'sitting around' time. However, I did have to frequent rail yards in the greater Chicago area just to get my freight (LTL). I was driving 'doubles' most of the time but about once per week I drove a long-box 48' or 53' trailer as well.

My last drop hook took 3 days. 1 day waiting before Walmart would allow drop, then 2 days before they emptied any trailers. I luckily still made re load, but other driver had lost there's and had to sit even longer

Thanks for the video and showing us what truckers and their families go through to deliver everyone's goods. The entire kiosk, self service/check out process has gotten out of control. We are forced to do jobs that we don't get paid for or get a discount for. Thanks for the Meijer Distribution Center tour. That was painful to watch. Perhaps someone at Meijer or CRETE higher up might see this and think about the amount of time wasted and the effort that went into a simple process of looking for an empty trailer? Then again I must be out of my mind thinking a process should be improved upon. Does anyone at CRETE ever inquire as to why it took so long between the delivery and then the pick up of an empty trailer at the same facility? Kevin on his well deserved soap box. It was interesting seeing their slogan over the fuel pumps. "If you're doing it right, you're doing it safely." Well having trucks driving around looking for empty trailers isn't right, so it's not safe either. Overall the Meijer stores we've been to are clean, well stocked and have great selections. Always interesting to see what actually goes on behind the scenes. Hope your next pickup and delivery goes smoother. When you arrive in the dark, but leave when it's getting light is never a good thing. Tanya was hilarious on this one, very entertaining. She was trying to reel in that 2,000 lb great white shark. I'm with Kevin on the no coffee.

Hey. Not sure if the size. Bottom bunk is a bit wider than the top bunk. We sleep separately as they are too narrow for us to sleep comfortably together in one. We have fridge and a water heater, but we usually get hot water and coffee at the truck stops. 😃

Greetings, The Joy of Trucking and Truck drivers everywhere. After seeing this video, I got to say warehouses need to get better organized with the trailers and it would be so easy to do in today's world with technology. I mean how hard would it be to have lots with designated spots for full trailers and designated spots on a lot for just empties and have it mapped out for any trucker who goes to those places. An put a full-size map on the guard shacks for drivers to take a screen shot of if needed. Of course, in-case the map so it's not effected by weather. And if the yard jockeys and the warehouses want to have a little OCD with the trailers organize them by carrier to have it even more efficient. I mean time is money right workers.

Jealous hearing you had over 700 miles. Can't wait to get a years experience so I can leave this horrible company. So many love load and unload s. It's a rarity to get preloaded and drop assignments. Constantly waiting hours if not days to get assigned a new load. In need of the good money I rarely take home time. I wouldn't mind being out on the road if I didn't get so few miles a week at 48 cents per mile. Praying my next move will make all this tedium worth it

Hi peeps.. MY 20 days (plus a few more) of the CPAP is over with. I'm hoping to fly out to SLC this week and get into a truck. You can claim your cell phone on your taxes if used for business.. just submit the (printed) receipts with your yearly taxes. As far as scanning apps. Try Turbo scanner. It's simple to scan and send to a contact, no ads and it's free. Hunting for trailers.. Ugghh.. It could be worse.. Deep snow, other trucks, ect.. Smile and God bless..
