  • This is a '81 Aria Pro II TS 600 is a 24 fret 5 pc.neck-thru that was made in the famous Matsumoku. The maple neck has walnut strips, ebony fretboard and a brass nut. The body is ash. It has an onboard pre-amp, a 6 way tone switch, coil taps, out of phase, and high distortion pickups. I think they are MK-45’s. It has a very fast neck. These were made from '79 to the early '80's. These guitars sold well in the US. In '81 the RS X-70/RS X-80 model lead to phasing the TS Series out.
    Amp - Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister 18 watt w/12" vintage 30 cabinet
    Dirt pedal - Weehbo Morbid Drive

    Best damn neck thru guitar I’ve ever owned. Need one one in every color. I replaced the original pickups with a set of 1957 re-issue Les Paul pickups. This thing is insane now ! Sustain for days! Any ones I buy going going forward will all have the Les Paul pickups. That built in fuzz preamp ?! Sounds like old MXR DISTORTION + with a flic😮k of the mini toggle switch. I can’t stress what a a Beast this guitar is! Total sleeper guitar...

    Theres one of these for sale here locally. It looks like a really cool, unique and versatile guitar.
    Unfortunately, I am trying to refrain from buying any new guitars for a while. Ive still got one being made for me thats about a month out.

      Same for me. I saw one for sale and I’ve never heard of it. But I really shouldn’t be buying anymore guitars.

    Hey Frankie, I took your advice and bought a '78 PE-1500 at GC. I love this guitar, it really is "The Magnificent" as they called it back then. Carved top AND back, mahogany between 2 pieces of maple. Neck is very much like my '81 Tokai, love it. Mother of Pearl inlays, Ivory binding and comfortable heal.

    Bought one of these back in about '77. Now up for a rebuild.... the only thing I don't like is the narrow neck at the early frets. But the tone stuff is amazing. I think though that I may be re-doing the pick-ups. I also nowadays prefer a shorter scale (PRS). But, yea, this guitar has been with me for the life journey, I couldn't sell it.

    Great video Frankie! I have this model but it is missing one of the bridge pieces. Do you know Is there a way to get a replacement? It’s an odd bridge piece because the mounting screw (or whatever you call it) is set to the left side where as most guitars are set to the right. I actually built a replacement from aluminum (I used to be a machinist) but haven’t yet ourchaced the replacement set screws (that adjust bridge height) and the Phillips head screw and spring (the mounting screw). I think I know what size they are but a factory replacement would be better. Any info would be helpful! Thank again for the informative video. Cheers!

    I owned and played this guitar (the one in red on the left) for many years - then it was stolen. I never found a real replacement, my fingers were so used to that neck

      Sorry to hear that. I looked for years to find a good one. So many of the X-70's and X-80's are badly beat-up with chips and dings. Many people who owned these guitars did not take care of them. I hope you can find another one someday. My RS X-70 is my most played guitar.

    If you ever open it up for repairs please make a video I don't want to touch mine for fear of ruining it

      Sorry I do do repairs. I do have a schematic for the TS 600 wiring. If you need it I can email it to you. It is complex.

    I'm going to be getting one of those t-shirts soon. First time I saw that shirt.
    How is the neck shape C,D,wide,flat? Also are the frets jumbo or smaller.
    I have a '81 Tokai strat copy and I love the neck but the frets were low, not worn, just low.
    So I had jumbo frets put in it. I love it now

    • @frankiecasper2903
      @frankiecasper2903  3 года назад +1

      The neck is a C shape. It is small, narrow, somewhat tiny, and very fast. Frets are not jumbo but seem kind of large for the neck size.

      @@frankiecasper2903 Thanks Frankie, so it sounds like you do not have any trouble bending strings with these frets. Which is the problem i had with my Tokai, small frets

    Hey Frankie, I actually have a 6 on one side TS-300 (bolt on neck) that says ThorSound Series on the head stock, and not a TriSound (I have seen the 6 on a side TriSound though) maybe it's from a transitional period with the names though. I haven't quite nailed down the year, but it is Matsumoko though)

    • @frankiecasper2903
      @frankiecasper2903  3 года назад +1

      The early models were 6 on a side headstock. They were 1st called Tri-Sound and then but change the name to Thor Sound. I think the 3 on a side headstock came in early-mid 1980. There are 1980 model with both headstocks. I have seen TS-400 with boly on neck but I have never seen a TS 300. The 1st number on the serial will be the year. (example 9 = '79, 1 = '80, 1 ='81). From what I have seen I think the TS was the best selling model in the US.

    • @frankiecasper2903
      @frankiecasper2903  3 года назад

      The 1st # of the serial # on the haadstock will tell you the year. Example (8='78, 0= '80, 2='82 etc).. Thanks for watching.

    This is complete garbage. The Vintage Aria Pro 2 guitars were quality made guitars for a low price. But nowdays they are still not getting much for them.

    The RS-600 is a neck-thru with single coil pickups. The center pickup is a blank and is suppose to cancel feedback that is common with single coils. There are not as popular as the Humbucker models and can be bought at a much lower price. They also made a RS-600H that has the MH-I humbuckers from the SH-800/1000 series guitars. My favorite Matsumoku guitar is the RS-X70/80 models. The RS bodies are very small and have a great shape. They are very comfortable to play. Fast necks. This is a good deal on a RS-600 on Reverb. reverb.com/item/40192387-aria-pro-ii-rs-600-1982-brown-tan-amber
    Thanks
