I've read a million comments about this unit and find it hard to understand why people don't grasp what it it. It is a 2 channel standalone unit which can be upgraded to a 4 channel setup because Pioneer didn't limit the channel number on the mixer, like on the RX/RX2. Simple and very much appreciated. Personally I really dislike that layered option you have on controllers and on Denon players. If I was to play with 4 decks I would require 4 independent jogs and it's various controls. For this unit to be perfect for me, I'd ditch that center screen and opt for a screen on each of the players. And the pads in one row, like the Denon's. As I see it, you get "almost" a nexus kit, with some added function here and there, for a fraction of the cost. And that is not a bad thing 😊
The hate for this controller is so hilarious. It's an NX2 setup for 5 grand off. Sure you can't play 4 tunes all at once off your USB...but I guarantee 98% of you can't even competently mix 3 tunes at a time, let alone 4. I am absolutely stoked on this thing. Finally full sized jogs and a DJM900nx2 feature mixer in a standalone...the hate is idiotic.
Such a weird product this. In standalone mode it's a Prime 4 with less features and if you plug it into the computer it becomes a DDJ-1000... with less features. All of this for the low low price of more than either of those products. If you need a 4 channel controller you'd go for the 1000, if you need a 2 channel standalone and you're too Pioneer to go Denon you'd already have the RX or something... Who is this even for? People who think the RX is brilliant, but needs to be too bulky to take out of your house? You're paying 700 euros more to get 6 more beat effects and CDJ size jogs. What are they thinking?
When connected to a computer what features are not on it which the ddj 1000 has? And if so can’t you midi map the pads differently so that you have those options then?
@@djdommenjay To be fair I've actually had the chance of testing one out. The missing features I was referring to were the pad FX and Sampler. Not really
this is still a huge piece of shit let down from pioneer. who the hell makes a 4 deck unit designed for stand alone use and only gives you 2 decks to use? this garbage is a joke.
The XZ is an oversize DDJ 400. Why Pioneer didn't make it a 4 channel standalone like Denon Prime 4. I feel they dropped the ball with this kit. Pioneer is charging $2300, U don't see any DJ's running out to get this. Don't get me wrong. I am a die-hard Pioneer user. They should have done better with this kit.
Its sold out in the UK. I ordered mine yesterday. Very few people use more than 2 channels simultaneously. The XZ is perfect for me as its very close to a Nexus system for 1/3 of the price. I will be running Technics through channels 3 and 4.
all the kids here crack me up with their comparison with prime 4, the XZ is NOT meant for you, now keep playing with your kid toy prime 4 and look somewhere else.
What a stupid childlike remark Waleed, no facts what soever…..Clearly Pioneer fanboy. This unit for me in 2019 is a big letdown.
I agree Waleed. Pioneer and Denon are like iPhone and android. Android might have more things it can do but, it’s not an iPhone. Plus android/Denon is for poor people that can’t afford the better product.
Hi, Can you add technics vinyl player on deck 3 & 4 or does it need to be serato?
you can play any source you want through 3 & 4
