Dude I don't know if it's because I'm tired or not, but I straight up thought this was a video game / unreal engine tech demo. And I watched it for over 3 minutes too, I'm like oh this is a creative way to showcase a game engine. I was even looking at the shadows and finding places where the ambient occlusion wasn't that good. Nope, real life.
Lmfao. Not me imagining there’s some homeless guys feces on the floor and this poor robot turns it into one maintenance guys bad night into a trail of actual nightmares tracked throughout the hospital by the robots wheels 😂😂😂😂
I assume the water it spraying is pretty hot and he spraying it with pressure - result will be way better then average human cleaner can achieve even with chemicals. I assume it has two tanks - for clean and dirty water so even if dirty tank gets really dirty over time it might stop robot from functioning correctly but will not compromise hygiene.
I'd actually assume that depending on the place, this might do a better job than a human janitor. At least from experience of how some public bathrooms can look. This looks like a pretty well-off/well-maintained place though, so maybe the janitor would actually be paid enough to care about sanitary.
@@MrMpakobec unless a homeless crackhead decides to shit on the wall and then this thing just spreads the shit from being on the wall to being everywhere, including on its treads
why isn't it flushing the toilet *before* it sprays into the bowl with high velocity liquid? doesn't this risk spreading into the air what was mistakenly left behind from a previous use of the toilet? except if the toilet auto-flushes, then there wouldn't be anything left behind for the cleaner spread around.
it would cost more to make it tele operated as you have to pay someone still to operate it and then you get a whole can of worms where you have a login that controls a robot that has a camera that goes into bathrooms
I'm only three minutes in and you've already sprayed potential feces everywhere... You didn't even flush the toilet first. Now clean an actual dirty bathroom with an actual dirty toilet and an actual dirty floor... Let me guess you'll erase my comment as well.
You should abandon the mecanum wheels and go for hub motors and a differential drive. Mecanums are loud, pricey and difficult to service. Very cool project but your bot is noisy AF and I'd hate to be in its vicinity while its rumbling around.
So instead of paying a Human you think these companies are going to spend a fortune on these machines that will inevitably become obsolete and cost a fortune to repair?
It's a job that nobody wants to do... yes. If you get 5 years of life out of it - if purchased for let's say... $150,000 anything after that is pure profit compared to a $30,000 / year laborer ... and those are all VERY generous numbers. Not to mention administrative costs associated with hiring as cleaner jobs can have high turnover rates... Oh, also benefits.
*You forgot the first law of bathroom robotics.*
LAW #1: KNOCK ON DOOR
Nah im pretty sure the first law of bathroom robotics is:
DO NOT USE THE BATHROOM WHEN ITS ROBOT CLEANING TIME
The robot needs to drop a sign saying cleaning in progress just so if anyone is in the building at night they don’t get spooked
Mid shit and this robot starts cleaning the stall one by one
This is an unbelievable technical feat. Impressive.
It's cool. The era of robots is coming.
And then at some point it will end because AI tries to kill us all. Then we will start the Warhammer 40k era.

SAAAAAME
imagine taking a dump and this thing busts ur door in 😬
nice! do you have an example of an actually dirty bathroom being cleaned?
Lmfao. Not me imagining there’s some homeless guys feces on the floor and this poor robot turns it into one maintenance guys bad night into a trail of actual nightmares tracked throughout the hospital by the robots wheels 😂😂😂😂
Wait now that I think about it... why is there a camera inside the bathroom? XD
Smile and wave
lol, there's no way that's sanitary

you mean the robot koodies ?
Bro why are you recording bathrooms? 💀💀💀
Why are you watching bathroom recordings?
the age old answer to Frank Fontaines statement, amazing
How does it handle Walmart levels of bathroom aim? You know like when they use excrement to write biblical quotes on the stall walls.
or crackheads leaving needles and shit covered TP everywhere
Cool! Keep it up!
Fantastic!
amazing
Yes, it's very good at cleaning clean bathrooms.
Needs a cat dressed in a shark suit sitting on top of it for the internet to like the idea hahaha
how did i end up here
why isn't it flushing the toilet *before* it sprays into the bowl with high velocity liquid? doesn't this risk spreading into the air what was mistakenly left behind from a previous use of the toilet? except if the toilet auto-flushes, then there wouldn't be anything left behind for the cleaner spread around.
Wait, there's cameras in the bathrooms?
Will scare the sh*t out of you and clean it too!
Make the bathroom dirty on purpose with food coloring and let's see the results
So the sink, one of the worst areas is totallt ignored? :)
This is a great idea but it doesnt seem like it could replace TP rolls.
It's cleaning clean toilets. Show us how it deals with dirty toilets. Colour of bronze.
So this is fully autonomous? Not tele operated?
it would cost more to make it tele operated as you have to pay someone still to operate it and then you get a whole can of worms where you have a login that controls a robot that has a camera that goes into bathrooms
it doesn't even clean the sinks or any of the door handles. terrible

Its all fun and games until it does the roomba dog crap spreading trick but with human feces instead lol
Cameras in public bathrooms? Is that even legal?
Its a stage those bathrooms aren't even being used.
It's a demo. The building was closed for the night, and the cameras were taken down before the start of the next day.
scary

2:29 you can tell even the robot is complicating its job
