Rocky has to be the most underrated or maybe overlooked guitarist in the history of metal.
History of rock, friend. For a time he was THE heavy guitar player.
Inimitable
Absolutely he is criminally underrated!
I cant think of a more criminally underrated guitarist in all of rock music. Greg Ginn is a singular figure in punk rock because of his talent and style. Rocky George was unheard of in punk and insanely talented/GOOD.
Constashredding
Rocky George's "melodic shredding" is on point!
❤️
This song, along with Fade to Black saved my life back when life was kicking my ass on a daily basis due to drugs and drink. Kept me from doing something stupid. Been clean for over 16 years and still every once in a while when I listen to it and it will bring me to tears when I remember those feelings of darkness and despair. I'm actually tearing as I write as I am so grateful for life today and even more grateful for this song giving me a release when I thought nobody cared. Love and hate when that happens. Anywhoo, great reaction, thanks!
Glad you made it out brother.
@@alxf66 Thank you!
Someone cares. You are never alone.
Prayers brother, keep up with what gets you by🤘🙏👍
It's really strange how the mind works. When songs like this pull you out of a dark place. Been there. Congratulations. This year is 30 years for me.
The guitar goes from loneliness, sorrow, pain, anger, frantic, despair and back to start the cycle again. Reflects the lyrics perfectly.
Rocky George is one of the most underated guitar players that ever picked up the instument i suggest you cant bring me down for a more thrash metal sound
You wouldn't know what crazy was if Charles Manson was eating fruit loops on your front porch!
They reacted to that a few months ago
ruclips.net/video/7J_dRwrZq_M/видео.html
I think i remember they did that one already
That whole album (Lights Camera Revolution) is great and a veritable playground for Rocky George. "Alone" and "Nobody Hears" would be great reaction video fodder, but any song off of the album is worthy of a listen/checking out.
@@Gekokujo76 I barely even remember those songs.. off the top of my head i remember You can't bring me down, Send me your money, Lovely LOL, Breakdown .. damn now i gotta go listen again to the rest again
This whole album was my life when I got it at Hastings at the age of 18. Learned this song by ear.
Same!!..most of it anyway.
@@vonclod123 My Life/16/Hastings/Never learned any songs
Suicidal Tendencies will probably never get the prominence they had when Rocky George & Mike Clark (guitars) were in the band... People today forgot that bassist Robert Trujillo (Metallica) was once a member of Suicidal from 1990 to 1995.
Who forgets that? Rob don't fit Metal-lica! Best to go back to ST. & With Rocky, Mike & since they landed the Mighty Dave Lombardo (who James asked to join Metallica early years a few times even, lol) Anyways, that would be the superist version! Ah to dream... Yet never know? 🤞🤘💜
Well, they're in their 50s. They're not gonna have a comeback all of a sudden.
Metallica bites
@@tomgnyc Only Mike Muir is in Suicidal today... the line-up today is Dean Pleasants (lead guitar), Dave Lombardo (drums), Ra Diaz (bass) & Ben Weinman (guitar)... Their 2016 album 'World gone mad' charted in top 200. But they r not what they r used to be back in the 80's/ 90's...
@@tomgnyc Who? Comeback? No ever left, ever sine they started. So are no comebacks!
This album has to be in my Top 10, it just means so much to me. The lyrics and the music is just so good.
Absolutely, Miracle is probably my favorite if I had to pick one.
Yep it's up there with Rust in Peace, Seventh Son and And Justice for all
Definitely in my top 10 of all 80's Metal, and that's a crowded field.
@@bschuler6216 Yeah, come to think of it 80's for sure.. During 90's, and since 2000 there have been some blinders, so squeezing in an all time top 10 becomes real tough
@@metalcryptor Super choices!
One of the best albums ever, with one of the best line ups in music let alone metal. Rocky on guitar tho, takes everything up a notch. Not only is he my favorite guitarist, but one of the best to ever play it.
One of the greatest bands, not only of The 80s, but ever.
70s- all started 45Ish years ago
Rocky George...in high school we used to call him "the black dude with the Pittsburgh Pirates hat"...but he is a very underrated guitarist...this album most definitely in my top albums that I love. I can listen to the whole album from beginning to end.
Yup. This is a just press play album.
Funny, in the 80s color was never mentioned. Metal heads didn't think colors & we had a good amount we listened to & thrashed out with us. Brotherhood beyond til NWA forced a separation that has yet to be undone again. Another reason 80s were the greatest!
I first heard them when I was in 11 and it saved me. There was this guy, from the other side of the world, who put into words all the shit I was feeling and going through. It completely blew me away. ST and Mike Muir saved me.
I saw them open for Anthrax (Persistence of Time) at the Troubador in Hollywood in 91.
NICE!!!!
Probably one on the last times they were allowed to play in LA.
Seen them open for Metallica with Danzig in 94 Milwaukee Wi
"Won't Fall In Love Today" is a must hear, along with "Join The Army".
One of my old school favorites. I still listen to them today and smile tomorrow. "Subliminal" is a must listen.
This album rocked My 7th grade year and showed Me that ST understood Me better than teachers or parents ever could… if you like this , check out :” Through and Through “ by Life of Agony.
All I wanted was a pepsi and they wouldn't give it to me.
I feel you I was a very angry kid from a not so good homelife having a parent drank heavily and did harder drugs as a freshman I found an outlet in wrestling for alot of my pent up hurt me and this albumn have alot of running miles together and plenty of life's perspectives and experiences throughout my 50 years and hope you are doing well I your life and ill check out the song you suggested as I don't think I've ever heard it
@@m90rider65 all I wanted was some time not your time my time but you never have any time 😀
@@jamesdavisjr6937 : I’m glad to hear you are doing well. A lot of Us kids with real issues at that time identified with Suicidal Tendencies . I still have My bouts with Depression , but for the most part Im a better Dad than mine was ; and life is sweet despite the bitter aftertaste it often leaves.
@@jamesdavisjr6937 : Life of Agony :” This time” sums it up pretty good too
This was one of my favorite bands in 80's HS, along with Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, Testament, Fates Warning, Sepultura, Queensryche and Candlemass
ST took me through High School, and much more. They are definetly apart of my youth!!!
You and me both, this album and Lights Camera Revolution.
Someone needs to make a compilation video of Lex everytime she moves her fingers as it to play the notes. So we can see how well she improves overtime with her air-guitar accuracy.
Thought she bout to throw up some Crip signs or just arthritis lol.
🎸
This album is top tier from start to finish, if you do more ST make sure it's from this album! Lights, camera revolution is great also though.
All of their albums are awesome
Suicidal has so many great tunes. For some reason though, when I hear the name, all I can think about is wanting a Pepsi. 😁✌️
😂😂
Thank you for finally reacting to this, I knew Lex would love Rocky Georges insane guitar work & having her face melted & Brad would understand the lyrics! Awesome reaction!!!
Most people don't realize how kids back in the day went through these feelings all by themselves. Mike put into word what a lot if us kids at the time were feeling. We didn't have the help there is today. Most if us were what you might call popular loners. I knew a lot of people but never fit in anywhere. Suicide and depression was shuned back then ..... you were on your own. S.T. helped a lot of kids just making them feel not alone. One of my favorite bands for helping me cope with life. Most of their songs are this deep you just have to hear what they are saying.
VERY SIMILAR to all i said above!
Brad - some of ST best poetry is on the first record, all songs. "Two Sided Politics" is one raw minute of punk rock poetry.
"I'm not anti society-society is anti me" Love that first album.
Mike Muir is beyond a poet. He has probably saved more lives than any other musician. 45 years & always need my ST fix!
Finally you guys played a real classic!! I had this on LP and there was no greater feeling when the needle landed "Trip at the brain" would always kick things off oh man side one of this album is total killer!! Lex if you like this you'll love Hearing voices from same album. This album along with it's cover is sheer genius and Rocky George (yes he's Ethnic!) is one of the least talked about (underrated) guitarists in the 80's and really shines on this album.
I first heard this band from their song "Pledge your allegiance".
Haven’t listened to this one in years, Rocky George is a goldang wizard. Great song, really took me back
On of the coolest dudes. Every show i have ever seen. They sit by the front door and great and sign anything you would like. There is also a heavy emotion version
To me their best album and definitely my favorite track off of it.
amazing band. favorite album is controlled by hatred
Right there with ya Lex. I love me some ST, but this one just hits different.
ST is unique and the most important hardcore band from USA. Very underrated these days...
Hardcore Punk only for the 1st album. Agree, unique though - in terms of lyrics (although Bad Brains were similar lyrically - a lot of their songs too also spoke about 'believing in oneself'. '
Punk at many points later & Mike hits deeper than any💜
@Brad & Lex Finally! Wanted to get this ST song played first. All about the order of introduction. Understanding what the band is truly about is key. the music in the earlier Punk stylings can cloud the messages for one who is not open to it. was too early to hear those i feel.
These Metal Years as many refer to are easier to absorb & have many more mellow songs also with deep meanings. Could go on so much about info in how important of a band they were/are. Mike Muir, (Singer/founder) his words reach deep & have saved my life numerous times as well as millions of others as the comments & voting over the years have confirmed. More than any other i have ever saw. Not just 1 song, but over 40+ years of impactful, helpful words to make those in pain not feel so alone.
I wish you would have watched the video for this song. There is an alternative version done years later called "Heavy Emotional Version" & the video for that is a must. & They are not a band who blocks. Mike is a sharing caring guy who gives a lot & dies a lot for all he can. & do know this personally.
Hopefully yous can do that next! & then explore more & see the many sides as well. Some great ones are "I'll Hate You Better, Alone, One Too Many Times, Send Me Your Money, I Wasn't Meant To Feel This, Lovely, Trip At The Brain- are a good start! Any questions i can be the one to set anything straight as well. truly hope y'all are open to hearing more now? Cheerz❣️
One of the most underrated metal band. I watched them live two times here in Milan and Turin, Italy, in the early 90s, when I was about 20. And I met and talk to the singer during a Festival called Monsters of Rock while another band was playing (probably Testament or Anthrax I don't remember 😂)
Suicidals were one of the most exciting band on the stage, they had a great frontman
I saw them too live in Turin, with Metallica. One of my fav band, i love every stage of their career, from join the army to the thrash era and the still cyco years.
Great band, great lyrics and great music.
@@larsmaresca esattamente quel concerto: Metallica a Torino 1992. C'era il diluvio universale, ma quando hanno suonato i Suicidal... I was caught in a mosh (Anthrax dixit) 😂
Azz, l'altro gruppo erano i Megadeth mica mi ricordavo en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clash_of_the_Titans_(tour)
Great reaction guys I saw Suicidal Tendencies for the first time live open for Megadeth I think around Nov 1992 at The Ritz in Manhattan....Suicidal was touring for their The Art of Rebellion album and Megadeth was touring for their Countdown to Extinction album just an AMAZING!!! show Suicidal has so much energy live and they absolutely killed it that night
I saw same show in Montreal, definitely Nov 1992. Was my first real pit experience, when suicidal opened with You Cant Bring Me Down, I thought my life was over, lol
@@roadhammer7543 very cool!!!.....Yeah I think at the show I saw they opened with "Trip at the Brain" I just about lost my shit!!!!.......lol.....the pit was insane!!!!
First hears them in late 70s, first show 82 i think & NEVER been let down by any of the multi dozens if shows i have seen in 40 years! Still & always amazing!
See same show in Albuquerque.. great show
Saw that tour twice. Mike Muir had a broken leg and sat on a couch while he sang.
Rocky george is so damn good... He's influenced a hell of a lot of people and made a lasting impact with his guitar playing a lot more than he typically gets credit for... An absolute guitar god
Rocky is the black gentleman in the Pirates hat lead guitar
Yeah, Rocky was such an underrated guitarist.
Such a great song. Love the "Heavy Emotion" version too.
ST is probably my favorite metal band. Their lineup of musicians is an all star/who's who. My fave song is probably Pledge Your Allegiance, but Rocky's amazing guitar work is sprinkled all over ST's songs. Pledge has one of the catchiest riffs ever. and War Inside My Head could give Lex the zoomies.
Been a ST fan since their start! This is one of those songs you can listen to over and over and it never gets old. Rocky is the most underrated guitarist ever, the guy is a great guitar player.
Amazing these guys are still kind of underground, no radio play ever , and a hidden gem.
Nah, they got a lot of radio play around here & other places
@@zeny7155 where’s “around here”? In the 80’s and 90’s here all stations were pop rock , not hard rock .
@@shawnfate2656 East Coast, Philly, New York, New Jersey, areas. early 80s they got a lot of radio play on the college station. which we have/had a lot of. Then there was a lot of specialty shows on the radios Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights. Metal Shop was my fav! & So many venues, thus endless concerts/shows!p at least three great ones a week. Sometimes three in one night, or more. 70s was a lot of Punk. Ramones, Misfits, etc, then Sex Pistols/Sid, since Nancy lived not far feom me (she is buried, & his ashes are 5m away).
All these shows were getting so much promotions and therefore much radio play. And then multiple sold-out nights which way to go teach one usually. And then when that was done they play a few nights in New Jersey or Upstate PA ignore New York and sometimes I would see 1 band several times in 1 month. Then some would have multi-legs of their tour & swing back few months later & again another few months. As Dio & Metallica often did. & 1983/84 Metallica playing around here nonstop. Were pushed endlessly after moving to NJ.
Great area & time to be alive!
@@zeny7155 I’m in the Bible Belt unfortunately lol
suicidal tendencies was therapy. gotcha feelin positive after a few songs. kept me right through my teenage years. sadly todays music just makes depression worse
Finally.....Been months waiting on this..
Rocky Dennis is a criminally underated guitarist..
"Trip at the brain" by them...You like deep lyrics, there a line in it "I took a wrong turn and I ended up at my heart....It could barely even pump no blood it was so thrashed and torn apart"....
LOL, so criminally underrated that people forget his name is Rocky George.
Rocky George bro
Rocky George, Rocky Dennis was that deformed kid from the movie Mask. Lmao 😂
So the elephant man is guitarist??
@@markwillis675 bruh, Google the movie MasK (1985) starring Cher. That kid in the movie is who I'm talking g about.
you guys should check out the Suicidal Tendencies songs "Nobody Hears" and "I Wasn't Meant to Feel This/Asleep at the wheel"
Rocky George is so fucking underrated as a lead guitarist!!! Hearing this really brings me back to the late 80’s, so cool you’re reacting to this!!!
This album is solid from top to bottom and is full of emotion. Truly a classic
Rocky gets his power from the Pirates cap .
Thank you for this one, I often forget how much good music there is that I don't listen to anymore and you remind me that I need to dust off my old CD's once in a while.
All I wanted was a Pepsi
these vatos always belonged in the Big 4 conversation in my book... saw them here in San Antonio, TX in small venue about 5 yrs ago... I got to thrash with them and then stage-dived into awesomeness! I was 45 then and am ready to do it again! I'll be done when im dead! Metal Is Life! AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!! 👊👿
this whole entire album is fuckin 🔥
Yessssss!!!! One of the hardcore balad of ST:) It's so good to listen to
Rocky George on lead guitar...the baddest black man to ever walk the Earth (next to Mike Tyson)
I think Rocky himself might defer to Ali.
This is the soundtrack of my teenage years. Loved listening to ST when I was out skating with my walkman on.
The bass player for suicidal tendencies is now the bassist for Metallica
This isn't Trujillo, it's Bob Heathcote who was the Bassist for ST after Louiche Mayagora (Join the Army) and before Trujillo joined in 89 but Trujillo joined after Controlled by Hatred was recorded (despite appearing in some videos).
Rocky George is a guitar god...under rated to an almost criminal level.. I recommend pretty much everything they have done each album has it's own sound and each sound is gold.
FINALLY I have been waiting for u all to react to ST TYTY
This is one of their best songs, an absolute masterpiece! Right up there with Asleep at the Wheel, Nobody Hears, and This World.
When this first came out the gorgeous harmonies were so unexpected from a Suicidal record. It is their undisputed masterpiece, though, lyrically and musically
Cyco Locos 4EVA!
Should do: "Subliminal" or "I Saw Your Mommy" or "Possessed" or "I Want More" sheed just do the whole album.
Also do: "Nobody Hears"
more Metal
🌹 Lex's Metal Show ☠️
🤘💀✌️
And "Suicidal Failure" ☝️
"Nobody Hears" is a great song.
Wow this pleases me to no end! Few reaction channels have ever done suicidal tendencies! I absolutely love this album!
One of my favourite Metal bands in the 80's and 90's, and this tune is particularly awesome. 🤘
The melody in this song was so good that even the king of pop lended it for his song give in to me
You guys need to listen to the entire 1st ST album. That album is one of the best hardcore albums ever made.
Incredibly well-produced too for a punk rock album in the early 80's - Still sounds fantastic
I started listened to Suicidal Tendencies when I was in late grade school. I was trying to deal with surviving cancer twice as a young child, as well as the two study groups that put me through more pain than anything in my adult life. Music was the only way to deal with the pain in my mind back then.
Currently Bass player for Metallica, Mike on vocals, one of a kind, and Rocky on Lead guitar 🔥
Institutionalized is a GREAT Suicidal Tendencies song! It's from the 80s but, I can't remember which album.
Actually, the song was briefly used in the first Iron Man movie.
When Tony Stark is in his office/lab tinkering with a car engine the morning after he spent the night with the reporter, you can hear the song playing before Pepper Potts comes in and turns the music off.
Is it obvious that I'm a MCU fan? Lol!
In 1992, I was so into ST that I almost went and got an ST tattoo, but I didn't because I figured by the time I was 30, I wouldn't be into them as much. Turns out, I was right. But I still do really dig them and I really dig this song! Awesome reaction as always!
One of my all time favorite song!! Thanks for checking it out
Thanks for doing this , one of my all time favorite songs. It's basically about heartbreak taken to the extreme. And most of us know how it feels and can relate. I've been a fan of ST since their first (very punk) album. This album is my favorite, they really had a killer line up of musicians and songs on this one. Cheers!
Haven't even watched the video but mind blown you're doing a ST song especially this one. Good shit!
An outstanding band that has an authenticity few can match . From the same scene as the Chili Peppers .
Love Rocky George ST, this was the 1st song that really grabbed me, when it came out.
My favorite ST song... it's a really good jam with a nice groove.
ST has grown and changed their musical sound so much through the years and every iteration of the band has kicked ass! Even though the music style might change (punk, crossover, metal, funk-metal) the message has not. Fight the power. Right the wrong. Believe in yourself. No one can tell you what to do. Injustice will never prevail. And Charles Manson eating Froot Loops on your front porch is crazy! I was born to be, ST!! and I'll ALWAYS be, ST!!
Man does this take me back! Thank you for being open to some old hardcore! I was bobbing my head on that one.
Great song. Helped me through high school.
ROCKY GEORGE shreds in beast zone non stop !!
Oooooo. You did Suicidal. Good for you guys. All time fav - 'Two-Sided Politics'. Still relevant, maybe more now than ever. Keep it up you two!!
Rocky George belongs right up there next to Eddie Van Halen and Dimebag Darrell, an amazingly underrated guitarist
Mike Muir is lyrical genius.
Was aware of Suicidal Tendencies for years growing up but never got into them. Now, after hearing this, I'm totally perplexed as to why. This was really good!
Just got back in country, so glad you did this one. I'll expound later. Love ya'll 🤘🍻🍻😘
blam! right in my childhood! this shit got me through high school man. super happy to see yall digging it.
That entire album is epic. My first Tattoo is Suicidal Tendencies. Mike and those guys really made the best music.
I NOW have the vinyl sleeve of this album signed by then bassist, Bob Heathcote! I messaged him in USA and he agreed to sign it! amazing song, and I just love the album sleeve.
C.
One of my favorite ST songs. Shout out from Bangkok for the inclusion of Thai subtitles.👍👍
I still play this every time I go to the bar! Favorite song
The immortal Rocky George on lead guitar.
Rocky George is a beast on guitar! Robert Trujillo played bass with ST for quite some time too before moving on to play with Ozzy Osborne and then Metallica. Mike Muir wrote incredible lyrics. You should check out, You Can’t Bring Me Down, Send Me Your Money, Emotion Number 13 for some more serious lyrical work from them or Join The Army.
They were also heavily involved with the movement to try to end gang violence in the LA area with a lot of other Metal, Punk and Rap artists. Unfortunately instead of being recognized for trying to end the gang violence many politicians labeled them as encouraging it and worked to get them banned or their shows shutdown.
Seen them open for Megadeth the Beacon theater in New York City maybe 3000 people incredible show ! Great reaction Bralex
That was the same tour I saw ST open for Megadeth. I had heard of ST but had never heard them. Fan ever since
Stephen Priola......I also saw Suicidal live for the first time opening for Megadeth on their The Art of Rebellion tour Megadeth on their Countdown to Extinction tour at The Ritz in Manhattan I think around Nov 1992.......Suicidal was so good live I was really impressed with their live show so much energy and I mean I was a huge fan of theirs from day one I had all their albums up to that point and still have the recent stuff......also Rocky George is one of my favorite guitar players ever I just love that era of the band they were so creative with him on board
First hears them in late 70s, first show 82 i think & NEVER been let down by any of the multi dozens if shows i have seen in 40 years! Still & always amazing!
It's funny how much Lex gets into the guitar work I love it!
It seems she's enjoying it and feel much more tuned with the song.... ☺ Both reminds me of two different "joint" reactions.. 😉
From the time when music was made of skill, feeling and magic. What music in the last 10 or 20 years feel so true... don't matter what u like but this is just magic
SWEET. You did my all-time favorite ST song
Love it
I'm a big fan of you two!!!!!
the song - feeding the addiction - always got my blood pumping lol
Seen these guys many times. One of my all time favorite songs.
I’m very partial to the lights camera revolution album! The best line ever in a song is “you wouldn’t know what crazy was if Charles Manson was eating fruit loops on your front porch”
My all time favorite song.
Tell 'em what's up, Rocky!
You guys , Brad and Lex , surprised me with this one.
I grew up with the different musicians in this band and close friends with a few of the originals. I also did a lot of skateboarding with pros on teams like Dogtown which the team was run by Jim Red Dog Muir , Mike Muir's brother (Mike , the Singer and founding leader of ST)
You should listen to the side project of Mike and various other ST members and other musicians including Ozzy Osbourne doing back up vocals , the band Infectious Grooves. They combine punk, metal, funk and the first album absolutely will blow you away
