Does anyone remember when scrapman wouldn't even touch logic? and now look it him, making some crazy contraptions with insane logic setups, Absolutely love it
@@DrgnZipi mean, if you're unfamiliar with logic gates as a concept, this would probably seem impressive. i mean, i'm not saying this as some kind of arrogant comment, it's just that logic blocks are pretty easy if you get into them for a short time, for everyone.
If you want them at a default angle of 45 but still have adjustment set the angle to 90 then use a distance sensor that is always on and set the output value to 0.5 then connect it to the hinges and you will have your 45° angle but should still be able to adjust past that mark, you may need to include an XOR gate to get both inputs to work
Next thing to add to this would be a range finder of sorts. See how far the mortars go by default and then have a distance sensor that leads into a tone generator when it is at that predetermined distance. This would obviously require line of sight but could be cool!
I’m gonna keep saying it. Scrapman’s build aesthetics are through the roof! They were already good, but recently with the decal update, sheesh! 🔥🔥🔥 Keep it up!
@@moroblizniak4457 Let’s say you’re on the court. If you saw a grade schooler make a couple 3 point shots, you wouldn’t scoff at the fact that he can’t put up 3s like Curry. You wouldn’t belittle him for not being able to windmill dunk. Swishing a few 3s in a row is pretty good for a little guy. Sure this armored truck isn’t the most beautiful thing to exist this side of the Milky Way by a long shot. There’s a large, vast number of Trailmaker players that have undeniably far far better aesthetic abilities. But recently, Scrapman’s designs have been through SCRAPMAN’s roof. And that’s pretty cool to see imo
Loved to see your interest in this idea become an awesome creation you seemed to truly enjoy making. I put over 1k hours into space engineers and had a few creations that invoked that same feeling. Coincidentally my favorite being a 6 wheeled military style truck.(it has several iterations one of them being a missile truck with homing missiles I created as well) when you dived into explaining the logic, I could tell it was going to be one of those creations, you can't help but want to explain every detail.
I made a missile-launching truck and used pistons as means to angle the missiles upwards, and a hinge with 0 strength as the connection. A servo controls the direction. Though it was not very solid so I could not have more than one piston at 100 strength without using suspension springs. I love the finished product. Very well done :)
I’d love to see a 2v2 battle where each team has a mortar truck and a tank You could also expand the battle to encompass more with more people maybe land v sea (mortar truck v ship)
These mass-destruction weapon systems keep getting better. I think ScrapMan needs to revisit the zero-G battlebots idea using these updated weapon system concepts.
When trying to balance recoil or massive moving objects, you want them to alternate from side to side not firing fully one side then the other. Alternating will produce vibrations and some spread but going one side after the other will deviate one way then the other making the spread that much worse.
advice in case you haven't thought about it. Do that when pulling the turret out of the back, angled pistons with friction plates lower and raise the truck for better stability on steep surfaces
8:20ish... if one can't get a Hinge Starting Angle and a Hold Position option in one Hinge... maybe it could get broken up into 2 Hinges working together...?
Hi scrapman, the "feedback" front the motor is actually called recoil and this is because of newton's 3rd law of motion, the way to fix that is either add more weight or add recoil springs( springs to absorb the recoil ). Love the videos, please keep making them
You should give a few friends one of these and have a an old Flash game style Tanks mortar battle. So you have to move and then shoot, then stay in the same place, then your opponent moves and shoots etc... until everyone dies.
I dig it. If you made the pistons that raise the weapon array wider, it would be more stable when firing. Overall, the function is sound. Including the protective canopy.
To limit the steering hinges, use steering hinges. Set the angle range on your "aiming" hinges (the amount you want to be able to adjust them) then attach that to another steering hinge with a permanent preset angle (representing your desired default angle.) Aiming hinges = 90° limit + Mounting hinges = 45° preset = Firing solutions from straight up to straight forward ONLY
5:11 place a distance sensor facing the ground telling the hinges to toggle and hold position. It'll set them to 45 when it spawns in and still let you adjust via the controls. I'm working on a quad jet engine hovercraft and have 4 distance sensors on hinges triggered by a different sensor, as a secondary function.
I'd like to see something similar to this, except it's rotating, and the rotation is what propels it and if you get it right you could possibly use the same amount of bomb bays as the constant bombing plane, so you would have a constant raining of mortars
Dude, Scrapman; PLEASE link your workshop for us!!!!!!! I NEED to experience your creations first hand! ALSO, great video! Well done and keep up the great work!!!
I wanna see scrapman re-imagine the constant missile launcher, but build it as a rotary/revolving gun like how miniguns have rotating barrels or a revolver
New idea! Instead of the lids covering the turret, give that truck a set of giant wings that are mounted on the roof of the cab with bearings and make that sucker fly! And yes, this idea was inspired by some concepts from the military.🤪
I love it can you make a flak turret and a battleship turret like you did on the plane? And yeah and make a tank out of it and do a dogfight for that and tank fight?
To prevent from angling backwards past the zero point, could you put your hinges on another hinge? You could have a hinge at 30 degrees forward fixed, with no controls, and then add another hinge on top with 15 degrees flexibility...or something like that, you might have to play with the angles to get the wanted result.
Video idea: -------------------------In scrapmechanic survival in the mechanic Station Theres an actual blueprint of an Haybot (henk?) maybee u Could try To Build These Parts in Huge size pictured on the blueprint and try to assemble them (Maybee Even so That it works?) good luck cucumber
Scrap man, if you are having trouble with steering hinges not being able to set certain angles on both sides, use 2 hinges, one on the bottom at a fixed angle and one at the Top which you can change the angle of. If you set the bottom to 45 and don’t let it move, and another at the top with a range of 45, now the max range at the top is 0 and the range at the side is 90
Reminds me of an RBU / Hedgehog launcher used by corvettes in ASW. Might be interesting to try having a submarine hunt using those up on the bow of a ship and depth charges or something similar off the stern. Totally not just saying that because I’ve recently seen a few Cold Waters with Dot mod videos by Wolfpack345 or anything…
To help a little with close range you can add two smart canons that are stable or have little of own steering, this for sure won't be main weapon but i think it can help in emergency situations
Use angle sensors to make a bomber that flies down at a specific angle to bomb accurately. I think the pilot seat has a sight of some sort in it you may be able to use.
I have a sniper mortar that uses armor piercing physics of missile launchers behind missile launchers like bleachers and a piston launching mechanism/glitch to increase the speed of the rockets. This is good to know for my current cluster missile project though.
I want to see a multiplayer challenge where you create mobile artillery using this method and have to destroy eachother / eachother's bases. I think it'd be really nice.
After all of your recent experiments, I really want to see you and Kan try From the Depths. It's a building game, with a similar style to Trail Makers, but much deeper and focused on battle ships, so it has really detailed weapon and damage mechanics to play with. With how far you guys push Trail Makers and Scrap Mechanic, I bet you could pull off some really crazy builds in FtD.
